I looked again and I think I made a mistake with the top and bottom of the circular disc. But I am not sure. Yes the leading edge is the cutting edge now that I have had a second and third look. Very good demonstration.
@@WatchingGrassGrowOfficial great video - thanks heaps. If we were to install the disc upside down (but blades right way up) what is the worst that could happen?
2 stroke mowers are generally happy being tipped over in this fashion. 4 stroke mowers however should be tipped over in a specific way, often specified in the manual. For example, Masport 4 stroke mowers usually should be tipped backwards, lifting the nose up. This is to avoid the oil finding it's way from the sump into the air filter & carburettor (2 strokes do not have an oil reservoir).
@@WatchingGrassGrowOfficial Hard to do that when it is fully home and tightened. Comes off "Lefty Loosey" but is the camera reversed like on Tik Toks? I'd normally use a percussion drill and socket to loosen but not being sure of the thread direction I don't want to get into more trouble than it's worth. The Manual is of no help whatsoever.
Not sure what it’s called sorry but any ring spanner would do 🙂 if you have a fuel tap, turn it off (that’s if you do). When tipping, always make sure your fuel cap is at the highest point (don’t tip toward the fuel cap) to avoid fuel leaks

When you install four blades on the mower. I can make the nut and bolt as tight as it can go. But, i find the blade will rotate a little - is this fine or should it be tight?
Yes the blades on a quad blade setup will rotate when they hit things etc. This is nothing to worry about as long as the nut was done up tight, and has lock tight or something equivalent to ensure the bolts dont come loose :) hope it helps
Tighten the bolts firm then move the blade back and forth to ensure they are seated correctly on the bolt shoulder (you will feel them go loose as you do this) finish by torquing the bolts to 15 -18 ft.lb, as someone else said "remove the spark plug lead before you start, the center bolt holding the blade disc should be torqued to 33 - 36 ft.lb
The locking lugs that lock the quad blade disc in place have sheared off and I need to replace the cushion cut blade boss that attaches to the drive shaft. Whats the best way to get it off the shaft and is there a locking pin stopping it coming off? Thanks
@@WatchingGrassGrowOfficial All good it was just a bit rusted and seized to the shaft but got it to slide off ok with a bit of persuasion. Just trying to find a blade boss which includes the top mount for the shredding blade.
im not quite sure. I have a 19" honda and they do use slightly different blades as the disc is slightly different. But different models to mine might be different so not entirely sure
I bought them from binnings $37 per pair $74 for 4 blades, After that went to supercheap auto to buy oil filter for my ute and I saw the same Masport blades for $13 for a pair. I bought 4. Drove back to Bunnings to return those $74 blades and showed them the Mower baldes that I just bought from the Supercheap Auto, and asked why the price difference was astronomical? She said the overhead cost. so I came to conclusion that bunnings workers must be on $60 per hr while Supercheap Auto would be just on $25 hr.

thanks mate, really helpful, quick, to the point, easy to follow. The camera work made it even better. Helped me in lining things up . Thanks again.
Great to hear that Aussie accent!
Just another tip unplug the spark plug before doing anything near the blades
Great video - just bought a Masport President 2000ST S18 Combo - so I will use your video when the time comes to change the blades myself :-)

Should have watched first. Oil pissed out around my feet : (.
Off to Bunnings now : )
✔👍 Thanks mate. Kudos
wonderful. now I know how ot take the central bolt off wiht a hammer.
When tipping over the lawn mower on the side which way is generally the correct way?.
Thank you☺

if you have to tip it on it's side, put the oil side down
Just purchased a new set replacement blades for my masport 19”. Do these blades need sharpening before use cause they have no edge on them at all???
Blades should come ready to mow. So no, you don’t usually need to sharpen them
How did you get the deck off so easy. I've been bashing mine with a hammer for an hour now and no luck
Just double check that your screw isnt reverse thread 😅👍

hi what type of spanner did you use do i have to be careful about oil and petrol when tipping

@@WatchingGrassGrowOfficial thanks for the reply can i do that with a 4 stroke mower
How tight should you tighten the blades? I've been told different things by two mower shops.
How come you don't access the blades from the rear Shute?? Without having to take the disc off??
Never tried that! Although you’d definitely want to ensure the spark plug is removed as rotating the disc can/will start the mower 😅

Hey mate have u tried just running the 2 blades. That’s all I use on my 3 masport mowers.
Whistol Mowing Na man maybe a little better when mulching as more air flow
@@wtfu3953 which blade do you use for mulching 2 or 4?
i cut commercially for over 20 years and used two blades on my honda mowers just fine

no you can't use a Honda blade as is flat around the bolt hole whereas the Masport blade is indented to fit snug into the blade carrier
