      I love my primes but I'm getting to the point where I appreciate the versatility that zooms are offering. The quality Tamron is bringing to the table with these lenses is incredible and thing like the 35-150 make it really hard to justify primes anymore.

      Really liked a 88-400 range on my previous APS-C, so this would be fun to try. Good thing that Tamron is shaking up the market this way,

      I've got the Tamron 28-200mm, 17-28mm and a bunch of primes.
      I'm kind of thinking to replace the 28-200 with this one.
      What would you suggest?

    Just had this lens for 1 week and I have been blown away by how versatile this lens is. As I normally only shoot landscape and woodland it’s an ideal partner for my A7iv and is becoming my lens of choice. Early days yet but so far so good.

    I just really love what Tamron is doing right now: very interesting and useful focal ranges, excellent mfd, 6-year warranty, and competitive pricing! Hands down my favorite lens company atm. I wouldn’t personally go for a lens this size but it looks like a great option for some and I can’t wait to see your review of the 20-40mm!!

    Awesome review as always, Pav! Although this new zoom is outside my budget, I have and love Tamron's 70-300 for e-mount - I think it's one of the more under-appreciated zooms on any system.

    Very interested in this lens, but I'm torn. I have the Tamron 28-200 and I love that lens. Perfect as a single lens option on multi day hikes. Still this 50-400 would be great combined with a wide angle lens on shorter trips in the landscapes, when you don't need to think that much about saving weight and space in your backpack.

    The range is very good but the lens has the typical big zoom lens limitation of small aperture. I go back and forth between 35-150 and 50-400 but tend to use 35-150 more often, of course depending on what I am shooting.

    • @PavSZ

    It looks like a very nice lens. I went with the Tamron 70 - 300mm rxd that is about $600 and about 635 gr. I'm enjoying that light weight and it's great image quality everyday that I use it. I'm not sure the extra 100mm on the long end or 20 Less on the short end would be worth it to me to switch at twice the weight and twice the price.

    • @boristahmasian9604
      @boristahmasian9604 Год назад +4

      I also have the 70-300 and think it is a sleeper lens. While the quality is really good, I think the 50-400 is better. I'm thinking about letting my 150-500 and the 70-300 go in favor of getting the 50-400. I tried it at a Tamron event but a few minutes is not long enough to get a feel for the image quality. It is heavy but a lot less than the 150-500 and 70-300 combined!

      @@photographywithbrallan1247 The Sigma 60-600 is a monstrosity and more than twice the weight of the Tamron 50-400. I have the Sony 200-600 for birds and wildlife, for which it's amazing, but I never want to bring it for anything else. It's just too big and heavy. The Tamron 50-400 is perfect for landscapes. Combined with a wide angle lens everything is covered, even some occasional wildlife photography. Side note: In my country the Sigma 60-600 is a lot more expensive than the Sony 200-600, which I find absolutely ridiculous.
