POPPY❣️ Haven’t seen her for a long time! Such a nice addition on the garbage dump and mud larking adventures. Seems like a sweet easy going companion in the videos. Funny Anna was here in minds and hearts too. She and Poppy are usually at the same outings.
Does your deaf (?) friend/mud larker hear at all? Just curious, a good friend’s sister is completely deaf but, is an incredible lip reader! If I move my head she will tell me, “can’t see your face!”. Fantastic that she speaks, like your friend does too. Incredibly helpful when communicating (or trying) with her or someone else with the same disability.
Thank you for another fun time on the shore of the Thames. Along with, a always interesting upcycling project. Of course seeing the handsome black kitty is a wonderful treat too! Had two female black kitties, love and miss them greatly. Now that I’ve written more in one comment, than in all of the years (5 or 6) subscribed to the channel 😆 Take care of yourself and be kind to others for no reason.
@@ImaLeshLushnIcantgetmyPhil cheers LL, no he’s completely deaf, and from Poland, so two obstacles to overcome 👍🏻🐾🧡
Very early bullet,1880-1890, wood inside so upon impact it would splinter causing further injury and to promote infection.
10:17 possibly a fingernail protector for wealthy Asian women.
Yes u ind alot of history artifacts kool
The way you spot those coins is amazing. I’m sure your eyes get used to seeing certain shapes that stand out in the muck. Great luck in the muck.
Yes they get used to seeing manmade objects. Thanks 👍🏻🐾🧡
I love how, in this week's video's, both you and Nic (Hi, Nic!) found squashed rings. You did a great job making yours whole again, and I'd love to hear them both tell their stories!
Yes wouldnt that be incredible
Learning to sign would be a massive achievement for you & a great help in communicating, keep trying Si 👍 😀
I will thanks JQ 👍🏻🐾🧡
US half dollars are still made and in circulation, but not used as much because vending machines don't take them and they are large and heavy.
The only place I know of that uses a lot of 50 cent coins is WVU‘s football stadium at least they did the last time I went to a game probably 10 years ago they had everything priced to either it was an even dollar amount or you got 1 big coin or no coins at all and they wasted no time counting change which was good because it was always packed with people but the line moved pretty quickly.
@@canaan5337 .
Right. Cheers Jon
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: Greetings from Michigan, U.S.A. Thank you for the wonderful way you incorporate the historical presentation amongst the mudlarking. Education and enjoyment in one video. I'm 🪝 hooked!
Happy belated birthday Simon! Ya’ muddy ol’ chap. Your shows are always the kickstart to my Sunday mornings. Cheers to you brother. Thank you for the good time adventures, history, art and laughs.
Cheers Eric 👍🏻🐾🧡
You are correct about the half dollar coins. That's a good find. The 1964 half dollar coins are 90% silver.
and the 65-69 ones are 40% silver.
Cheers Mary
What a great day! Loved seeing Poppy having fun poking around and chasing sticks. And I need to thank you for the lovely footage of Nelly - he’s such a beauty, though maybe not at his best while wolfing his food! 😂
Lots of good stuff this day for you and your friends. I don’t remember Michal from before, so perhaps he’s not been on camera or I just missed him. He’s certainly got the eye - he found some really fantastic pieces! Including your misplaced tripod! I think my favorite of his finds was the sweet little mouse on the pipe stem. It’s seems impossible that something so delicate could survive the rough and tumble of the tides and all the rocks.
Always like seeing the coins - so plentiful, yet such a variety. And I like the stone marbles. I’m also a fan of the type and I’m guessing you have some fun arranging it into words. That phrase was a fantastic find - I’ve never seen one before this! I hope someone comes up with what it might have been used for, book, sheet music, pamphlet...
You found a couple of my other fave - keys! And your upcycle project was inspired! It looks perfect and displays beautifully. I never would have thought of attempting it and certainly wouldn’t have been able to carry it off. And good work on the ring! It didn’t work out exactly as planned, but you got to practice a new skill and, in the end, it’s lovely.
Looking forward to your next adventure! Have a lovely week! 🪙🗝💍
Thanks so much Lucinda! Have a great day. Appreciate the lovely comment. 👍🏻🐾🧡
Very enjoyable all 'round, Si, the Muddy Adventures of Simon and His Friends . I never would have had the patience to keep on with that ring - but it's the process that makes the piece. Here's to Sweet Suzanne !
This lark and upcycle was so enjoyable to watch!!
Watching your videos are always on my Sunday 'to do' list!
Aw thanks so much 👍🏻🐾🧡
@@Sifinds You are welcome!
Just for such a narrow piece of foreshore what a lot of interesting finds, the end result of the key was really good and love all the upcycling ideas, nice to see poppy and the guys
Cheers Kim! 👍🏻🐾🧡
You have found all the keys to my heart! Thanks for the little Sunday adventure Si💜
Aw thanks Leigh 👍🏻🐾🧡
I'm amazed by what you did with the ring and key. You managed to match the rust on the key perfectly - incredible!
LOVE the kitty sound effects - chomplickchompchomp .. lol .. they do enjoy the gravy, don't they?
I could watch you up cycling all day. Loved the ring and key.
Cheers JoEllen 👍🏻🐾🧡
Hello Si, the pointy thing on the knife is called a 'fid' we used them for splicing rope, it opened up the lay of the rope (small stuff). Enjoyed the video. Cheers from NZ 😀😀
OMGoodness!!!! Your comment about making a Museum moist made me laugh loudly. Too funny!! Thanks for the video and the chuckle!
Poppy has an American cousin named Holly! On the gardening RUclips channel, Horttube with Jim Putnam. I love seeing all the sweet pets!
Aw. Love the pets 🦔🐈⬛👍🏻🧡
Well done with the ring Si, love the addition of the stones too. Really great job with the key. Poppy is beautiful too
Cheers Lexie 👍🏻🐾🧡
Sooooo many finds!! I lol-ed so hard at the suppository part 🤭🤭🤭 love your videos, Si, I'm addicted.
Ohhhyy that Old Key turned out just as if it was born like that 👏🛎
Dear Si ; To make a ring round again, clamp a used tapered ring mandrel in a vice...put the bent ring onto the ring mandrel, then add a tube of metal, perhaps thick copper, or something harder like soft steel...tap the ring down the mandrel slowly, carefully turning the bent ring upside down and then tapping some more...can turn a bent ring round again. It's a skill worth having/knowing. Cheers.
Cheers Greg. I will check it out 👍🏻🐾🧡
Nice finds ! Love your patience with the upcycling , you have so many skills .
Thanks Elaine 👍🏻🐾🧡
I love the blue Alley gob. 💙
Lovely isn’t it 👍🏻🐾🧡
Fab day on the Thames, with friends!
Love the up-cycle!
The key turned out really great!
Well done, Si!
hello from Denmark 🌸🌱
Thanks so much Z 👍🏻🐾🧡
Hola Simón y Jules ,que alegría verlos ,también en mi ciudad Santiago de Chile, estamos gozando de un día casi primaveral ,buena jornada amigos .Bendiciones😍🙏🏻🥰🥰🥰🥰
Alright Sylvia 👍🏻🐾🧡
Bien amigos👍👍😍🥰
So glad you found my choppers , can you pop them in the post please lol 😂
I luv watching you guys finding old treasures. I wish I could join you. I'm in Ontario. Have fun treasure hunting . ❤️🇨🇦
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
I love watching you fix old things ❤️ You’re so clever (plus you have the patience of a saint!) I hope you have pockets full of gold by the time you read this x
Cheers Beth. Not quite pocket but a few nice flakes and a lovely time
I have found false teeth while beach combing lol. I have a pic somewhere with a crab claw sticking out of them. The key turned out so beautiful!!! Really great Si! Thanks for another epic video!
Sunday completely done, Si and Nic and pancakes, awesome. Excellent as always Si, and happy belated birthday 🎂 till the next mudventure. Later Si.🍁🇨🇦🐘🌞
Sounds like heaven - the pancakes that is. Lol
Always love to see what you and Jules find, never fails finding something interesting. I always enjoy the upcycling too. Loved the key xx
Cheers Gaynor 👍🏻🐾🧡
Great job on the upc;ycling! Maybe your jeweler friend can make a cast of the ring and create a likeness in silver for sale.
Now that’s a good idea!
Some lovely finds there Si, I'm an avid mudlarking collector of things too -mainly blue and white china for crafting but I do love finding Roman Tesserae, Staffordshire Slipware and Thames Type!
The enlarged old rusty new key handle that you have upcycled is fab and was originally from an old scaffolding clamp, it would've had a square plate attached which slotted in to a 'U' shaped bracket that would wrap around the scaffold pole and then the bolt with the square plate would be slotted into the bracket and tightened up keeping the scaffold pole in place in the 'U' bracket, sometimes the discarded/lost old 'U' brackets can be seen out on the foreshore 🤗
Nice one Maarina 👍🏻🐾🧡
A Nelly cameo - thanks Si. Loved seeing Jules & Poppy. What a great type days. I love those bits. Always amazes me how you find those tiny types. Love the upcycles! Great finds on a dreary day. Hope you had an awesome bday last week!
Thanks so much Thelka. I had a great birthday too thanks! And just got back from a Scottish gold adventure 👍🏻🐾🧡
Can't wait for Scottish gold adventure Round Two!
Such interesting finds and always good to see Nelly.
good video Si ... the end lock part of your old key is called the Bit. The gap or cut outs in the Bit are called Wards ..
Love watching mudlarking, makes me want to have ago myself, will have to add it to my bucket list!
Cheers Jazz 👍🏻🐾🧡
So nice to see the three of you and Poppy enjoying the day. Super clean up and repair on the ring and I really loved the key up cycle. Nelson certainly liked his meal, you are both lucky to have each other. Have a great week and please keep safe! ❤️🇨🇦
Cheers Diann 👍🏻🐾🧡
I like that Key transformation, 'Lovejoy' would be proud!!😉👍🤟🪡🎨
Haha true. Cheers 👍🏻🐾🧡
Outstanding!!! I love the mudlarking, and I really love watching the upcycling! I've learned a lot from you about working with ceramics and metals. Thanks so much for the excellent adventure and upcycle. 👋🏼🙋🏽♀️✌🏽
PS. What happened to Michel (sp?). He was there with you all, and then he just disappeared...
It’s started to rain and went in different directions. Thanks for the kind words 👍🏻🐾🧡
I have a gold & sliver straw back from the roaring 20's. But that’s a straw he pulled up. For ice tea or cold drinks.
Mine has a 18 karat gold tip and an all sterling sliver straw. Very pretty!
Impressive work on that key!
Love your key art Simon xx
Simon my dream vacation would be a guided mudlark getting stuck in the muck. Have you ever done anything like that? You could get stuck in the muck and make a buck!
The suppository joke was a Good made me laugh.
It’s so interesting seeing your accidents as well as successes
Cheers Kim. It’s what makes us human and hopefully encourage others to give things a try without fear of messing up 👍🏻🐾🧡
Oh wow we have matching black cats Si ! Mine is named Salem. He's jet black with one white whisker. Still watching. Excellent up cycle Si. 27 more days till I arrive in London
Cool for cats! 🐈⬛ 🐈⬛
This was a great time for all three of you, everyone found such interesting relics. I empathize with Jules as both of my wrists are painful.
I noticed Poppy eating something I hope if it was on the shore it was safe or that Poppy has a strong stomach
Thanks for such an interesting time I look forward to your videos each week they are my special Sunday night program to watch once I’ve settled into bed
Cheers Julie. She was just chewing a wet stick 👍🏻🐾🧡
Love watching your videos. This one brightened up a cloudy day here in Ontario Canada 🇨🇦. I’m a Sweet Suzanne!!! Cool type.
Hi Simon Love the video. Always enjoy seeing Poppy. I think the business end of keys are called wards. I think. Thanks a million. Always look forward to Sundays with Si.
Interesting thanks Peggy 👍🏻🐾🧡
Great to see Jules again. Michal is so lovely, it's so great to see you two banter. Poppy is beautiful, come on boys, I want some action!!
You got it 👍🏻🧡🐾
Poppy says all those hands and nobody's throwing a stick!
Your new friend had all the luck in the muck! 🙂
Well not really, but he did do well
I only recently subscribed to your channel, maybe about 2 months now. I can’t get enough of you or your videos!
Cheers Dan! Tell a friend too 👍🏻🐾🧡
They also make a Jeweler's loupe that you wear on your head that's what I used to do my beating with they come with different powered lenses so if you wear glasses or whatever you can still wear this over top of them. I find them quite helpful myself. I actually have an extra one of those kind of lamps but I can't imagine how much it would cost to send it to England LOL
You have a good eye for recreating tossed relics. Good job!
Cheers Julie 👍🏻🐾🧡
I miss mudlarking ! Hi Jules! I love how you are so good at explaining everything and showing examples! Thank you
Very good finds today. I really enjoy your videos. Also like how you explain your finds and where they are from. Good History lessons.
Great job on the key Si !
Cheers Julia 👍🏻🐾🧡
Hope you had a good birthday mate...your channel rocks...keep up the good work 👍😁
Hey Si , if th knife is military, the punch is used for punching holes in plastic explosives or blocks of TNT in order to insert the blasting cap.
I cannot take a drink of anything while watching your videos! Had I had a mouthful when you said museum & moist in the same sentence, it probably would've been spit out all over me!😅🤣😂
Haha! Glad you enjoy em’ 👍🏻🐾🧡
I enjoyed watching you tart up the key - really good result ! It's funny how things happen, but I learned how to say thank you in BSL through watching Rose on Strictly last year !
Ah yes. What an inspiring woman she is 👍🏻🐾🧡
River adventures with lovely people, Nelson, Poppy, keys, letters! and your upcycles… such a joy. Dinero means money, so there you are, you open the abundance portals! haha. Oh... dragons and serpents 💛, the serpent from the caduceus... yes is related to health, because it represents the life force that runs through our spine, the kundalini, thus the vitality, creativity, etc. Saludos! 😘
Great stuff. Thanks Viky 👍🏻🐾🧡
Nicely done! Great video.
It helps to use some oil or 'tapping fluid' to preserve drill bits when drilling steel. Also makes the job a bit easier.
Good tip! Will use that. Thanks
You've done some great up cycles and you have a lot of pool equipment Thanks for sharing like the ring
Joolz is so dry with his humour x love him and his dog. Si you and your cat aren't too bad either 😉
Haha. Cheers Sweet Sue…
You are so talented.Thank you so much for this adventure.
Cheers Helen! 👍🏻🐾🧡
I like how the key turned out. I recently found one magnet fishing that is missing the same part. Going to see if I can do the same repair.
Great stuff! Great for the display cabinet 👍🏻🐾🧡
Oh god,the dentures are my nightmare find.
Please,Thames,don’t wash up that!!!
Nice key restoration/rebuild!
I have a Roman key,uncut,it’s amazing.
I know that you will be super busy with the rally in September, but maybe afterwards,we can muckluck!
I’ll be in town until the 28th,although that’s my day of departure,so27th at latest.
At any rate,I enjoy your videos, and I appreciate your talent, art is everything.

The key turned out so nice! You definitely have an artist's eye and touch!
Thanks Kath! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thank you for sharing this, I enjoy seeing what you find and how you clean some of them up. The amount of type finds you have collected iver the years you should have enough to become a compositor with your own complete print set. Well done 💕🇦🇺
Nearly Liz 😉
Interesting stuff, as always, loved the ring and key upcycle! 👍✌
Cheers Ray! 👍🏻🧡🐾
What a fun adventure!!! Great job on the key!! Thanks for letting us tag along!

We still use can use the half dollar but many don't use change much anymore. I cashed my hoard but not the silver ones. 😉
Right 👍🏻🐾🧡
Keys have a bowl(handle) and a blade(end that goes in the door). Learned that off Outlander! 🤣🤣🤣
Cheers Lisa 👍🏻🐾🧡
The key turned out beautifully! Well done❣️
Cheers Carolyn 👍🏻🧡🐾
