I picked up mine at january 31. It's one of the first ones in Germany.
That bike looks really nice, I'm no beginner but a bike like that would be perfect for running around town here. Just something light and easy to deal with.
I agree, it's perfect for that!
The problem is once you get on a cool little motorcycle like this one, you can't get enough of It, and you will end up riding waaaay out of your town 😂
Beautiful looking 👌🏼 😊
Absolutely
Cool classic style lightweight motorcycle. No doubt fun to ride this motorcycle.
Good looking bike and a go-to for beginners and lovers of retro and small and neat!🙂
Looked at one today. Looks great in person. Definitely better looking than the old Suzuki TU250. Instant classic with real metal fenders, etc. Good job Kawasaki. Let the good times roll.
I agree Kawasaki did a great job
Should be plenty dependable . Us older riders can run em on the back roads dodging chickens and such. 🐓Oh yeah!
Absolutely Great for dodging chickens!
Good mpg I bet and looks great for urban chores or country .
Classy, beautiful bike. I like the logos!
Glad you like it!
She’s beautiful!!!
If I didn't already own a Janus Halcyon 250 old style bike I'd definitely buy one.
I got a trail 125
The dual meters take the cake !
I just detest LED pods !
yes, sir classy
I saw this bike in Khon Kaen Thailand last Month….i loved it. If I lived there I would have bought it
That's awesome! It's a great bike to see in the wild.
Suzuki has made basically the exact same bike since 97, the TU 250 although they discontinued it in 2019 because it didn't sell well, I wonder why Kawasaki thinks it will sell.
Maybe because back then it didn't offer anything different or better, today the market is starved for simple, air cooled, low maintnance, low cost motorcycles for enjoying bike life that look as beautiful as they did back then instead of looking like an insect.
I am about to sell my XSR 125, my first bike at 50, for a Honda GB350S.
Meanwhile Honda and the rest keep pumping out one modern and improved bike after the other, me and others like me don't care, we are not looking for more performance and certainly are not hot on the Transformers look.
As the world slowly descends into madness, people look at the golden age of the 80s and 90s and get inspired by it over the faceless and emotionless modernity.
Certanly old dogs like myself.
I like Royal Enfield Classic 350 or Honda GB350 but they feel heavy to manipulate. The 250 range might be lighter, yet still more powerful and nice lokking and feeling than a small motorcycle.
@@christosswcWell said.
I don’t think the tu250x had brake rotors which is a deal breaker for me
500 thumper please 🙏
Bring the price down to 3k .
Very nice!
The motor must derive from the sherpa 230 mid nineties. 😊
I own one, I like it but it has a speed limiter at 70mph.
I am about to buy it,because at 50 my yamaha xsr, is starting to be uncomfortable at traffic lights(I can only put one foot well on the floor) and a drag to manoeuvre in tight space,so I saw this one and the honda gb 350,which is even more pretty but also taller......so I decided on the w230,the price is a bit high but you buying quality, but the one thing which really piss me off is the max speed,70 is just too little, jeeezzz there are 125 who touch 70,so I decided to wait for more reviews in Europe....
This great looking bike will give good competition to Royal Enfield if they launch in India.
Protected with XCP rust blocker clear coat and that bike should look as good as new for decades !
Well done Kawasaki, the W230 is a proper modern Retro with proper analogue speedometer and tachometer, not a piss poor job like Royal Enfield and Honda's GB 350s or Triumph speed 400 which try to be too modern. Royal enfields new classic 650 looks shit with TFT Nav screen, an analogue fuel gauge would have been a lot nicer.
I hope this bike comes to Europe as it's one of the most authentic modern retros I've seen. No riding modes, no bells and whistles just honest to God simplicity , than you Kawasaki ! Now bring it to Europe !
Chrome motor side cases would set it off
I hear you
What a great looking bike. I’m guessing it has mid twenties horsepower. Hope they sell it in the UK. Slava Ukraine ! 🇺🇦
Nothing like mid 20s. It's got a couple more than a Z125 and costs more. I wonder why they didn't just do what Honda did and copy Royal Enfield's 350s.
Slava Russia
What would the "out the door" price be?
Tack on about $900 to the $5599 msrp is about what it would be at my local Kawi dealer making it a no sale. Beautiful little bike though. A Hunter 350 would be about $1500 less on road and just as pretty a bike to me.
What was the seat height please? Also, I think Kawasaki is going to have a tough time competing against the triumph speed 400 that list for $4999.
Wish Kawasaki South Africa would wake up in life and bring some of these to our shores . There offerings are getting less and less.
Love that retro look but not so much on the tires retro treads and a bigger engine would help . Otherwise looks great😊
Sounds like you would like a W800
@@SaleswithPatrickI do like the W800 but I own a V7 850 Guzzy which is a modern classic or retro classic but still in same category as the W800 . Something between 250 and 500 cc with a retro look would sell well. Triumph has that 400 but nah . Royal Enfield too pricey. A W450 yes that's the ticket . 😊
Kawi Ws are pricey- whats the price on this one?
Great looking starter, too bad about the price, $1500 too high. Same thing happened with the W650 and W800. They just sat on the floor.
It’s a great bike for the money but I get that $1500 would make it a better and more competitive bike in that price point
Now that is what a motorcycle should look like! Not with those modern huge pile of shite that looks like every motorcycle on the road!!!
Definitely a classic style
Looks good but I cant see why you would buy that over the Royal enfield classic 350
They are both great bikes. However, Kawasaki has a stronger reputation and dealer network so that helps with peace of mind for a lot of customers
Beyond me why Kawasaki thought this was a good idea. 315 Lbs. is too heavy for a 230cc engine and it's 70 mph top speed proves it. Heck. My '05 Honda CRF150F had a 150cc engine and it weighed only 225 Lbs. WITH the aftermarket rear rack and Street Legal kit and went 65mph with a huge rear sprocket. The W230 needs at least a 500cc engine.
Love this bike but it is priced too high. 5200€ for a single cylinder 230cc bike is too much. The CG350 costs 4500€ and the engine is far superior. They will not sell it in big numbers.
Will the US get the CG350? I heard rumors a few weeks ago we were, hope it’s true.
@jessbailey6718 I do not know. Is coming to Europe though.
I think the low weight and seat heigt will be the main factor. This bike will be a lot easier to handle for smaller (mainly female) riders than any of the 350 bikes on the market. I would say - it would be awesome if Kawasakin could bring a 500cc version. But at the same time I am grateful, that we still get the W800.
I have been waiting for this bike to show in the English speaking part of the world. I am wondering what the idea behind the 230 engine is - I guess the main market is still Asia. It is coming on the market in Europe soon - I am curios how it will be received. Speed wise it is faster than the 350 Royal Enfields and is a LOT lighter. Accidentally - I am looking to get a W800 next year. Had Kawasakin introduced something like 450 - or 500 version, I would have seriously considered it. 230 sounds on the petit side. But it could be a graet bike to get ladies interested. I am looking for some reviews to show up.
Why do you say this W230 is faster than the 350 Royal Enfield? I'm very interested in the bike and I've been trying to find out just how fast this will go in case I would ever need to get on the highway. So far I haven't found anyone talking or writing about its top speed. If this can cruise easily at 70 mph this would be an awesome bike.
@@stevereason6931 Since most if not all videos so far are languages I do not speak, I have used the auto-translate option on subtitles and tried to extraxct some infomation from videos from Japan. One of them was showing top speed of nearly 120 kmh and acceleration from 0-100 kmh in about 12 seconds. So while the top speed is actually not higher than RE 350. the accelaration is better as from what I have seen the RE 350 bikes get to 100 kmh in some 15 - 17 seconds (Hunter possibly a little faster). So in retrospect - I should have worded my first comment better. The W230 is not faster than the RE 350, but it accelerates a bit better. It is most likely not going to be super happy at 70 mph.
Yes I do wish Kawasaki would also bring a W style bike somewhere between the W230 and W800, but I am not sure whether they have an existing engine, that could be used for such a bike (let's call it W500 for the fun of it). The W230 exists, because Kawasaki could use the engine from KLX230 with some slight modifications of the ECU to push the maximal torque to lower RPMs a little bit. Yes - the last bit is also from some Japanese RUclips video. Take it with a grain of salt.
@@matusknives Thanks for the feedback. I have been looking at the Honda Monkey and at full throttle it gets close to 65 mph. I'm thinking with the W230 having twice as much HP as the Monkey and with a 6th gear then the W230 just maybe able to cruise at 70 mph? I also like that the W230 can ride two up if needed.
@@stevereason6931 It is a really lovely little bike. Hopefully some good reviews will show up soon as it is starting to hit English speaking markets :)
@@stevereason6931 - it’s Big Rodders in Ireland. I’ve done 15,000 miles on my 4 speed 2020 Monkey. Top speed isn’t relevant on small capacity bikes - it’s cruising speed that’s important. I contend that 50mph is the realistic cruising speed for this bike. I’ve had mine at an indicated 70mph downhill but this cannot be maintained.
This can easily compete with Honda’s XR150L in price
This W will be a hard sell. The W series is a premium offering. Aimed at collectors and those old guys reliving their first bike days. Too expensive for entry level and to craftsman built for the state basic rider courses. For the US market, Kawasaki should have brought it with 350 or 400 thumper. The 230 will be too under powered for our highways. Still, it's special because it shows what the big 4 can do when they allow design to be more important than profit.
This seat will not let you slide back for your personal comfort, if your 5'4 " fine if you 6' foot your out of luck.. what kind of idiot would put a seat on a bike that could only work for a few size riders ?
Honda bring back the SL 350
What's the price?
$5600
Everything but the price tag
Looks like an old TU250.
but with some updated features
Beautiful motorcycle! However, Kawasaki priced it same as the Z500. Come on, Kawasaki!!
I see where you're coming from. The W 230 does seem to be aimed at a more discerning, collector-focused audience, with higher quality components and a more classic design. On the other hand, the Z 500 appears to be targeting entry-level customers who prioritize modern styling and lightweight materials. It's a classic case of different strokes for different folks.
Nice looking, not so "retro" looking , doesn't have dumb bat-like headlight fairing and moto-cross look.
Elöl és hátul is túlzottan nagyok a lámpái. Ez így rosszul néz ki, rosszul mutat. Kissebb, csinosabb ledes lámpákkal, irányjelzőkkel eladhatóbb lenne Európában is. De így olyan ügyetlenül néz ki. Furcsa. Nem szép. Órmótlanul nagyok a fényforrások. Emberek, 2024-et írunk már. Az 960-ból megmaradt raktári lámpákat szereljétek fel egy old bike-ra. 😊
Is that a Kawasaki Bajaj Caliber?
I cannot remember a shallower review. I guess comments on brakes, valve/cam config, HP, Torque, wheels/tires, gearing, switchgear, ergos, would require a little homework.
It’s not a review. The title says First Impressions. He even said that at the end. Learn to read and listen.
@brentcollins9727 I cannot remember a shallower first impression. How’s that Karen?
I am just giving my initial thoughts
