Fascinating, especially about plant-based tryptophan, serotonin and melatonin and how what we eat during the day affects those neurotransmitters at night. Thank you so much!

When cooking my morning oatmeal, I add a spoonful of chia seeds and a spoonful of ground flax to the oats, plant-based milk, chopped fruit, and cinnamon in my saucepan. Adding that flax and chia seeds adds protein, fiber, and omega 3's. Yes, it has helped me feel better. What also helps with my mood? Going to bed by 10 PM, getting up no later than 7 AM. Spending 30 minutes before bed reading (no screens, no TV watching). And walking at least 30 minutes per day. My mood and productivity are so much higher when I do these things, plus it's so much easier to lose weight, as well.
Excellent breakdown of depression's root causes. Dr. Ramirez offers a holistic approach that resonates with me. Focusing on nutrition, exercise, and stress management is key. I love the emphasis on a plant-based diet for improved mental health. It's inspiring to hear about the program's success rate.

Bake for 10 - 15 minutes or until golden brown, checking often to prevent burning. Let cool before removing from the cookie sheet. Makes one dozen."
Loved this chapter...indeed, epidemic this depression. I have to confess sometimes I can have limited tolerance to it; when from people that leaves in privileged conditions without even being aware. But of course, many times its 'chemical' and we,doctors and humanity, is not even aware that those ultraproxess sugary crap makes it worse; specially when topped w an animal based diet. Hope you can share this message with even more countries, and more people...hope you guts co.e to Europe with such conferences once... And yes pls, share the cookies recipes.. @ the exam roomies: any whole food plant based cookie recipe to share here??

You need to consume a good diet to prevent these problems. 2012 study, Vegetarians displayed elevated prevalence rates for depressive disorders, anxiety disorders and somatoform disorders. Due to the matching procedure, the findings cannot be explained by socio-demographic characteristics of vegetarians (e.g. higher rates of females, predominant residency in urban areas, high proportion of singles). The analysis of the respective ages at adoption of a vegetarian diet and onset of a mental disorder showed that the adoption of the vegetarian diet tends to follow the onset of mental disorders.
Is it surprising? As vegetarians consume a lot of mother cow/goat lactation breast milk for her calf turned ultra processed cheese and period eggs of female birds.
@@monicasong427 I posted a comment on the other big dairy problem video from July 26, of a bunch of dairy consuming centenarians, Guinness World Record holders, genius IQ's, Ph.D's with award and honors and Olympic Gold medalists and the person could not find a reason why the dairy did not destroy the health of these people.
@@Jeffs60 Does it make any sense to forcibly impregnate female cows and goats and kill their babies-so primitive homosapien primates can drink the lactation breast and eat the ultra processed cheese products that was intended for their calves? The milk sugar called galactose is what scientists use to cause premature aging.
@@monicasong427 It doesn't make much sense to impregnate a cow but it also doesn't make much sense why on dating profiles woman who are between 4'11" and 5'2" require the man to be at least 5'10" even if the man who is less than 5'10" has perfect hair, perfect health, perfect wealth, perfect profile with perfect photos and perfect spelling.
Great explanation and suggestions to help relive/overcome depression. Pharmaceuticals should be the ultimate last resort, because the allopathic doctors want you to stay on them for life. Kids eating junk food and then act hyper so teacher tells parents they should be put on a medication. This is insanity! Real whole plant foods and other health pillars Dr Ramirez talks about should be implemented instead.
Would love Dr. Ramirez’s recipe for the cookies.
