      Yes it is much harder to use the rudder when using keyboard and mouse. I would strongly recommend purchasing a joystick.

    You actually can see your speed while taxiing on the a318/19/20/21, if you look on the ND on the top left you see "GS" which stands for groundspeed, with your speed right beside it

    For the tiller you don't need a addon you just need to press CTRL+SHIFT+U and you just need to move the rudder.

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  4 года назад +1

      The yoke controls the ailerons, the pedals control the rudder, the tiller controls the centre gear. You should use them in this reverse order where possible

  • @tf51d
    @tf51d 8 лет назад +3

    Actually your premise is wrong, at least here in the US. there actually is no set rule by the FAA. Just a guideline to use "appropriate taxi speed". Most restrictions are more from airline SOPs and possibly specific airport restrictions. Boeings own FCOM for the 737NG states taxi speeds of upto 30kts is acceptable on long straightaways, and no more then 10 kts on a turn. Many airlines use the rule 10kts on the apron, or turns, 20kts on straightaways with possible obstructions, and up to 30kts on straightaways without obstructions.

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  8 лет назад

      Yes, the speeds you've mentioned in your comment are exactly what I've suggested to do in this video.

    • @clebyweby
      @clebyweby 8 лет назад

      I thought max was around 30-35kts.

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  8 лет назад

      The maximum is 30 knots, however I recommend on a normal straight taxiway, to go 20-25 knots and slow down to 10-15 knots for turns.

    • @tf51d
      @tf51d 8 лет назад

      10kts for turns yes to15kts no.

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  8 лет назад +1

      This is why I said 10-15 knots. Every aircraft will handle turns very differently, so up to 15 knots (as a maximum - no more than this), is acceptable for certain aircraft. But yes, 10 knots would be better, but 15 knots would not cause any harm to some aircraft. Overall, the majority of aircraft will be fine 10-13 knots and some will also be fine 10-15 knots.

    Runway tunoff should be on when taxi too Anti collosion must turn on when aircraft move or engine start.

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  8 лет назад +2

      Runway Turnoff lights should not be used while taxiing as they have the power of landing lights which are very bright. This is why they are called 'Runway Turnoff' lights, as they are only to be used when turning off the runway - not taxiway. The anti-collision light must be turned on before the aircraft moves, however for this tutorial, I just did all of the lighting at once.

      Dany King The pitot tubes measure interpreted air speed "ias" for the PFD and Autopilot/Autothrottle and are only reliable at or above 45 knots. The navigation display displays ground speed "gs" and true air speed "tas" in the top left, and reduces all the way to zero.

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  7 лет назад

      As mentioned in the video, you can't use the tiller in FSX. Instead, it's recommended that you just use the rudder.

    • @lastsamurai2000
      @lastsamurai2000 7 лет назад +1

      That's unfortunate because the rudder provides a very limited amount of turn. Making a U-turn on runways is impossible without straying off the runway. Hope the next version of Flight Simulator takes care of tiller control.

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  7 лет назад

      I've found that more almost all aircraft, the rudder is fine to use. Commercial aircraft would very rarely have to do a u-turn on a runway and when they do, there is always a turning point (e.g. London City Airport).

    When are you going to make the settings configuration of how to fix the lagging in fsx cause my fsx lags so much cause my laptop is not excellent nor isn't perfect and what causes fsx to lag it's annoying and also I get the fatal error so... what is causing the fatal error?

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  8 лет назад

      Unfortunately, I won't be making a video on what settings to choose to fix the lag in FSX. This is because everyone's computers will be different, therefore everyone's settings will need to be different. I suggest you simply try changing around the settings a bit and see what works. However, if you'd like more help on this, I can give you direct support via Facebook messages, Twitter messages or email.
      As for the fatal error, this can be caused by many reasons. The most likely will be that your PC has run out of RAM while running the game, in which case reduce your settings or upgrade the RAM. Or it can be caused by simply playing the game too long, which similarly causes the RAM to run out. Or, it could be down to a faulty add-on.

    what throttle percent is to make a good taxi and what speed?????

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  8 лет назад

      The main part of the video talking about the speed is directly after the introduction. More is mentioned later on (particularly with bends) during the Boeing 737-800 taxiing. There is no set throttle you should be at, as this varies a lot by aircraft. For most commercial aircraft, it'll be anywhere from 10% to 25% - you can adjust the throttle yourself and see what percentage is best for each aircraft while keeping with the speed limit.

    This is absolutely false, you were going 18 knots as indicated on the display. Do you really think that Airbus pilots in real life need to ''guess'' how fast they are going on the ground?

      Yeah I know where it is now, but when I made the tutorial I didn't - thanks anyway!

      You can use the F1-F4 keys to control the throttle. Find all key commands here - www.jacksfsxvideos.com/fp-key-commands.

    My recommended maximum taxi speed is 30 knots

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  7 лет назад

      That would be too fast in most cases. Usually 20-25 knots is acceptable and slowing down further for corners or bends.

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  7 лет назад

      Yeah it definitely can vary by aircraft, but on the whole, it's 20-25 knots

      Could you please tell me what you think is incorrect?

    • @avator50
      @avator50 8 лет назад +2

      Fist with the turning late it is the same thing in the real world because the nose wheel is behind the pilots it is not something wrong with FSX, most aircraft in FSX do not use the tiller they use the rudder instead because most people will not have something to use as a tiller so they just use the rudder to turn the aircraft I don't use the default aircraft that much but I do know they are no where realistic but you are pretty good with most things

    • @avator50
      @avator50 8 лет назад

      and with the speed you are correct with on straights staying under 20 but when doing turns you should be going 10 or less and as for reading the speed yes it is in knots you do not look at the speed tape on the PFD here is a ground speed on the PFD and the ND some aircraft have one some have both but they look something like 15gs.apart from all that good video mate keep up the good work.

      Thanks for letting me know. But I don't think you quite understood what I said in the video. Perhaps if you re-watch and read below you might understand what I'm saying.
      With your first point of the aircraft turning late, I completely agree with you that it does happen in real life - this is why I mentioned it. I was not implying that it was a problem with FSX at all, I was simply saying that because aircraft can turn sharply, make sure you turn late. I was not restricting this to FSX, as I know this is what happens in real life.
      Similar with your second point of most aircraft in FSX not using the tiller, you are also completely correct. However, as with the last point, I mentioned this in the video as well. In the video, I said that in real life, almost all commercial aircraft will use the tiller, but as they don't work in FSX, you'll need to use the rudder.
      So basically, in the video I have said exactly what you've said in that aircraft can turn late and that you will most likely be unable to use the tiller. I think you've just misunderstood what I was saying in the video. Hope this helps!

      Yes, staying under 20 knots is correct. I did say in the video to go between 5-15 knots (15 as a maximum) when going around bends, and that 10 knots is the ideal speed. However as I also mentioned, staying below 20 knots is very unrealistic and for added realism, you should exceed 20 knots and taxi between 25-30.
      Thanks for letting me know about the speed indicator for the A319! I'll remember that for next time for when on the ground. And thanks for your support!

      I filmed it quite a while ago so I couldn't be sure, but I think it's Stansted Airport, London (EGSS). As for the gate, I'm afraid you'll just have to try out a few or have a look at some charts.
