You could use good old Gaffer Tape to avoid the damaged Trailer edge influence the consumption. It´s cool that the VW Nav estimates the Range based on past consumption. When I use my Model 3 with my Trailer, thats one of the most anoying things that it will alsways calculate with the rated consumption.
I think the height difference between the car and the trailer has a big effect on how much consumption increases. I have a low trailer and when I hook it up to my Ionic 5, consumption only go up to about 180-190 Wh/km on the same route where I get about 150 Wh/km without the trailer.
Yes, I have the same experience. When I pulled my low trailer with the Ioniq 5, the consumption only increased slightly. But with a high trailer, even though it was unloaded and had an aerodynamic shape, the consumption increased quite a lot more.
Now, I'm waiting for my new ID.Buzz to arrive. I can't wait to see how it performs with larger trailers and caravans. It's a shame that the pulling capacity is limited to just 1000 kg.

The reason that the map is displayed in day-colour is because the "ignition" is off. When you have the map on auto and you push the brake, it will turn dark if its dark outside and vice versa. Optimal? Maybe not. But the auto mode works
I personally prefer to plan on Day Mode Map. So like the solution. Still better than my Tesla which only switches to Night Mode according to the calculated daytime and I drive through tunnels with a bright display :D
Very nice test, just got my Buzz a few weeks ago but havent done any trailer driving yet. But I have put 2000+ km on it already and love the car/buzz :D
The auto for the map works in a way that when your main lights are on = night mode, otherwise day mode. When you're parked it'll go into DRLs and therefore use day mode.

While the car has the clock with date time and global position information, and a quite probably light sensor on the dash. Tiny mis-feature, but still there.
I would love to see a 1000km trailer challenge with the Kia EV9, faster charging and larger battery should mean a lower overall time
The battery is cooling with 4.5 kW. But it doesn’t take 4.5 kw, more like 1.5 - 2 kW. The value seen in Carscanner is compressor power * COP. There is an input of 2 kW, and the cooling output is 4.5 kW.

Ionity costs vary by region. Here in the UK, it's about the most expensive for service station charging.

the buzz overreports amps, its about 1% but at 500 amps that difference is 5 amps so it still well within spec.
Bing/CoPilot explained it all. Circle-K started USA 1951, Bankruptcy 1990 many owners since, now owned by Canadian outfit, I see why they are going BIG on BEV charging. At least in Canada, very few have charging here, NONE have trailer rental here. Headquarters still in USA.
Trailer mode must be added. At least it takes to account the previous consumption figures.

Thanks Bjorn. I agree, the boxy shape of ID buzz must’ve made a difference in terms of overall aerodynamic drag. If there is ever and spoiler to put on the Tesla model Y, then that might improve towing efficiency. Lots of love to all.❤❤❤

I am very happy with my id buzz pro Bjørn . I like the big space and i also got 19s . I have only driven 6600km with it . Do you see any condensing problems on the side glasses in front? I have already changed out one time and its back again.

I currently have a Tesla model Y LR 2022 and is considering a Model S 60 (75 kwh pack but not software upgraded) from 2017 with free supercharge as our 2nd car. I havent been able to find a range and charging test of it. Do you happen to have any data on it? I see you had one as a loaner 8 years ago, but there has been so many updates to those cars in the past 8 years right?
How much range do you realistically have with a heavy trailer? At 100% charge. I'm considering buying a buzz for work.

nice one! ...What is the actual max towing capacity? I am towing classic cars on a trailer pretty often (for now still with a fossil tow rig) ...but desperatly searching for something EV that can tow 2500kg+ ...don't care about the range really. F150 Lightning and Cybertruck will not be out here in europe until i will be "6ft deep" i suppose? :(

Also one thing that is bad, is that you can't tow this setup with a normal Norwegian class B driver's license. You need class BE. So although EVs are great for towing they are a bit too heavy for towing at least with Norwegian rules.

Because the consumption with empty trailer is almost the same as full trailer. And who drives them? If you deliver cargo somewhere, then your trailer will be empty, right?
Now do the same challenge with VW transporter. Probably 4hr difference
More like 2.5 h since you are usually only allowed to drive 80-90 km/h on European roads with a trailer. The transporter would likely need slightly more than 11 hours.
Depends on the trailer, most small ones can be ratet for 100
I just towed slight smaller trailer with T5 and consumption without trailer is around 8,5 L/100km and while towing it was around 11,5 - 13L/100km.
@tobimai4843 in some countries, like Norway, Denmark and Germany, some newer caravans can be allowed to go 100km/h. But in other countries, like Sweden, 80 is always the maximum speed limit for any trailer.
