Many of my friends around the world have been using Michelin tyres, and they’re the standard tyres shipped with Teslas in most markets globally, so decided to keep it! Changed all at 21k mileage out of an abundance of caution. My Tesla owner friends have used their tyres for 30-40k mileage.
We're already at 21,000km mileage, so was okay to switch all 4 for peace of mind. The price is also slightly more affordable in Malaysia compared to Singapore.
I believe washing the rims was for safety reasons (ensuring that there's no dirt/dust to disrupt wheel operation once installed back on car), and the exterior covers can be washed easily on our own (just washed my car at our HDB carpark once we got back to Singapore).
True. Have Tesla owner friends who are using their tyres for up to 45,000km! I changed all my tyres for peace of mind after the incident for extra caution.
@@DarenYoong I think Telsa heavier weight has a significant higher wear on the tyres, rendering it having much shorter lifespan. Although electric charging is a cheaper option compared to fuel refilling, but if the tyre replacement is halved the lifetime of ICE, then one need to factor in the S$1000 for 4 tyres. Hence overall cost of ownership for EV may not be much cheaper than ICE as S$1000 can get us > 400 litres of petrol etc.
Fun Fact - its actually much more expensive to change new tyres in Malaysia than in Singapore
True. It looks cheaper to replace tyres in Singapore. What's the reason for that?
@@DarenYoong why didn't you change the tyres in SG?
The old tyres still look fine to me, why change all 4? 😅
Damn , i don't see such full Tyres installation+ wheel balancing+ alignment at Singapore.
Congrats to your fist time experience of changing tires! 😄
Also my first time seeing the whole tyre taking a bath LOL
Thanks Sheldon! Learnt a lot from them!
Your previous michelin tire only lasted 20k kms before it burst. what convinced you to go back to michelin
Exactly my thoughts. That rear left basically failed prematurely. I was thinking you should go back to Tesla to claim for premature failure.

can ask why 4?? since u damage left rear ..suggest change a pair will do.

@@DarenYoongIs it norm for EV tyres to wear out after 21k due to the extra weight?
@@paulchung1387 depending on each drivers driving style, my model Y coming to 34,000km, rotated every 10,000km , will have to change soon....
Would be great if you actually show the thread of the 3 tires vs the new ones.
Good point! Will do it next time!
Daren. Can share the shop address with us? So that I can change tires for my Kia ev6 at there!
Here it is: g.co/kgs/P7NKQ92
They took the trouble of washing the rims but not the covers?

21,000 km mileage is a very high consumable cost as typically lifespan of a tyre in ICE car can last between between 40 to 50,000 km mileage.

I thought wheel balancing should be done every 10k km? Didn't know it can last the lifetime after 1st balancing on new tyres.
Yes, wheel balancing should be done every 10,000km! My mistake in recording.
Is this the first time you ever own a car? You seems very surprise doing a common Tyre change 😂
Haha yes! This is my 1st car. Been driving test drive vehicles/rental cars over the past 3 years.
@ ha ha cool
You should try owning an ice car for a while to have a better feel. Then you can truly compare the pros and cons.
Noob leading noobs. Funniest part is workshop 'wants' to do wheel alignment., not the owner want. 😂
