Hey everyone, I've got a quick update for you. Just so you know, this channel isn't a money-maker for me, quite the opposite in fact. A lot of time and effort goes into filming and editing these videos. To make things a bit more efficient, I'm trialling third-party AI narration. I'm really keen to hear what you all think about it. I think the narration was good, be interesting to see if you find it a time saver or sink, sir swag ended up going away from text to speech because it became a time sink
Have to be honest, it's a negatory from me...Stephan you have a very distinctive voice and the change is slightly off-putting...I realise you have to do what you have to do, but would prefer your voice overs to keep in "character" with the action footage.
I really like the narration, I like it best when he is telling a story related to the footage. Wonderful voice and elocution adds professionalism. In my opinion. I particularly liked it in the Vic high country video 👍

Still left wondering what happened about the desert trip being rushed and cut short, another teaser at beginning of this video. I love this YT channel, and appreciate your content Stefan. Cheers
I have been to Welford a few times now. It is great for a short getaway and not too far from my home in Queensland. Some good photography opportunities and easy pleasant drives. It has a bit of a sad history like many of the remote stations. I also stay at Alroy Station when heading west and they are really nice people who run the place. The Lake at Quilpie is also a nice overnighter with excellent facilities and stunning sunsets and wildlife looking over the lake.
Sorry to hear about how the steering box thing started leaking and cut your adventure short this time. Video looks beautiful as usual though. I hope to one day have an adventure like that and go camping so I could enjoy the peace and quiet for a few nights away from the cities
Got to agree with comments regarding using the voice of a narrator. Just creates a strange experience hearing someone else's voice saying "I did this" or "I did that" for you.
I think the new narration voice is fantastic. The only thing I’d change is using Stefan’s name instead of “I” because we know it wasn’t him. It reminds me of the old Malcom Douglas doccos
As usual Stephan, loved the visuals. Bit interesting whatever happened to cut the previous leg short. Unlucky about the Steer pump. Not a huge fan of the 3rd party voice over. Prefer yours. Cheers mate.
Hallo Stefan, auch für mich ist es seltsam mit einer anderen Stimme in deinen Videos. Mein Englisch ist nicht perfekt und mir fällt es leichter "deutsches" Englisch zu verstehen. Die Stimme deines Kumpels ist sicher radiotauglich aber deine Stimme ist uns allen vertraut. Beste Grüße aus Thüringen
Sorry Stefan, voice over sounds fake and takes the legitimate out of it. I (hopefully we) prefer you're mater of fact Teutonic verbiage. The voice over suits some dudes in Range Rovers on a guided tour looking to spruik some Rich White Wankedoodoahs Cheers Gaz
Quite odd having the narrator speak in Stefan’s first person. IMO best as a third party voice and filling the gaps around what you don’t say. Keep up the good work guys.
Please ditch the voice over! Nothing wrong with your own. I went to Welford with my father and my 2 sons..we awoke.at.1am to the sound of light rain. Immediately packed up and drove all night in rain to Tambo. The drive out of the park was wild! Doesn't take much rain on that clay to turn things.
When you do the commentary I can tell that you have experienced the place or situation. The AI is a bit robotic and has no emotion, so it doesn’t give the same connection.
Not a fan of the new voice over when it’s being you. Only works when it’s talking about the surroundings or history of the location etc. if that makes sense.
Love your channel Stephan, and have watched almost every video but please ditch the AI voiceover. We much prefer your voice with all it's emotion and sincerity. Great video as always though. Curious about why the desert trip got cut short though.

I prefer your own voice Stefan. The ai narration is nice and clear and a little easier to understand but seems disjointed. I suggest if you do use this ai narration, it speaks as if narrating what you ate doing etc. not as though it is your voice suddenly. I.E. "Here we Stefan under the front of his landcruiser, clearing out the grass from the radiator." However I really would just prefer your own voice in the voiceovers.

Nope. I’d ditch the professional sounding voice over guy. The results are fine if you want you vids to sound commercially driven, like advertisements. You have a great presentation style and your accent when speaking English is genuinely easy to understand. When you speak you sound like the real deal. I hope you haven’t had any flak for speaking with a slight accent - but it takes all kinds I know. And I’m definitely NOT biased just because my mother was German. 👍😂
Ok, thanks, yes, there have been a few racial slurs over time, but I usually block them. Yes, after the VHC series, there will be no more James or if super rare for BG info.
I’m SO sorry, and embarrassed, to hear that Stefan! Ignorance obviously abounds, yet programs like yours are part of the very stuff that helps to break down barriers in many areas of society, so please keep it going if you can put up with the isolated numbskull or two. Naisely James AI is not enjoyable to listen to, much prefer your voice and accent, don't lose your style its unique and I like it.
I dont rate the voice over man im afraid
I think it could work as an intro or outro, but it loses that personal touch especially talking in the first person

To my mind, the narration adds nothing and honestly detracts and distracts.
That said, still a great video and story.
