It actually helped me learn and practice my skills in the aircraft and in presentation of the materials. Still on the journey.

Thank you! I lean towards the P-47 (in honor of my Dad). I also pick an aim point on the threshold either just over the nose or bottom of the gunsight, allowing the aim point to transition down the runway during the roundabout to landing.
    Regards,

Great video! Definitely gonna start using the TF-51D and work on my stick and rudder skills.

It’s great to fly and dial in with the controllers. In of the few simulation experiences that make me feel like I’m actually flying.

Fantastic video Juice and crew. I hope you folks had a great New Year. I keep thinking why we practice the "pattern" however as I keep flying I find I get better and better with all that practice.

Happy new year! I need to work on my advertising video for interested former military aviators and instructor pilots who fly DCS and are willing to join me in curriculum development as well as our staff.

I would do it in a heart beat. The one thing I truly enjoyed about falcon 4 bms was the atc. I hope we see a better atc.
Oh ty for these videos, truly helped me..

Practice is the key! Landing the P51 is currently my main task to improve, as sometimes we can ruin a good mission with a crappy landing! Thanks for the video!

Happy New Year Boots...I was totally lucky with that one, have done it that smooth maybe two or three times since then, but I carried a little more power on the approach and only used 40-degrees of flaps. What's nice is DCS is modeled for weight so depending on how much fuel, the performance is affected in my opinion. Thanks for contributing in the comments and have a great 2024! Dream of the HH-60G Pavehawk for me.

Happy New Year to you as well! It looked really good--and carrying a bit of power over the fence is what I was taught for wheelies, and what I taught my tailwheel students when I was teaching. Actually, your whole discussion in this video was CFI-worthy. A great landing starts well before Pattern entry. I agree, that the modeling of weight/mass and engine performance in DCS makes it fly very much like the real deal. You have a great 2024 as well, and I'd love to see that Pavehawk. And the Corsair...

Thanks! That reminds me, I need to get used to the JUG engine management...the Mustang is so simple compared to the radials. Did you fly military by chance?

Not exactly. I used to be an Aerospace engineer, and worked at NASA JSC in the early 80's (Shuttle Operational Flight Test). They sent me to Pensacola where I was taught to fly by the Navy in 1981 (Basic/Contact only). When I got back to Houston, I got my PPL, and then IFR, CPL and CFI. Eventually left NASA and went to Med School. Flew competition acro for about 20 years and did some teaching (and a TON of BFRs and unusual attitude/spin safety) on the side. Had to quit competition acro after I herniated C4-5 and C5-6... So, I learned to fly in orange and white planes (T-34Bs), but never actually flew in the military. But it was fun and quite a ride.

Similar here compression fractures L1, L2, L3 in high school 1981...got my PPL at Beale AFB in our Aero Club doing the same program we used for IFT for 2Lts proving they should go to Pilot Training. Graduated from Embry-Riddle in 2003 after my 20 years active duty and went on to manage my own on-airport real estate holdings and consulting for various aviation ventures. Nothing big really, I just retired from the CAP in October to travel more and do museum tours and interviews for the channel. The big one is coming in June, Normandy! Email me at awgletters@gmail.com sometime...we'll connect on Discord perhaps.

Nice work 👍🏽. I usually do the overhead break landing. It’s a routine that I have done for a while and it helps me pace my progress and checklist through the landing steps.

Great tip! And I would recommend that too, especially for new pilots. It helps bleed the energy.
