I’m getting the F-4 because I am a collector of modules. REDFOR is where it’s at. I want Razbam to get back to business, not because the SE, couldn’t care less about the SE, but because of the MiG-23.

The Phantom was always my first love in fighters. I've been waiting for this plane for something like 30 years. 3 days seems like forever at this point. But I'm sure the Fulcrum will be fun in that very Russian way (~2000 hours in Yak 55 and Su 26/29). "Break airplane? No break airplane, break pilot!"

When I worked on F-16 vipers in Korea, the fulcrum was every one of my pilots dream jet to fight against.
I honestly thought this was going to be a goof on the MiG-29... .but clearly this comes from someone who appreciates the unique appeal of the Redfor modules. I'm also skipping the Phantom but will be all over the MiG-29. Also desperately hoping Razbam and ED can figure out a way to bring us the MiG-23 - losing it would be an absolute tragedy for DCS. :(

AFAIK heatblur wanted to do the Mig23 but something stopped them, so even if the whole razbam thing kills the 23,theres still a chance for its appearance. (albeit in about 10 years time)
Well, I've received half of the story of a what happened and it's credible unbelievable and it's actually been published by a forum that pretty much spelled it out and I'm sure that it will work out. RAZBAM needs to do the right thing.
I'm already Redfor as I fly the Hind and am mainly a rotor head but am also quite excited about the Fulcrum, not to say that the Phantom doesn't look amazing, but I'm more interested in the Mig.

I buy them all as early as possible, bugs and glitches be damned. I just bought the Chinook and the Kola map. Yes, I have more money than sense, but that's just how I roll. I've owned the A10C II now for a year and have not mastered it yet. I am really into warbirds at the moment and trying to recreate the Normandy battles as accurately as possible in DCS. Fusing my love of history and DCS together is a real joy.

F-4 is simply a module that every aviation fan should have. It's an absolutely legendary aircraft. Heatblur set the bar very high with his Viggen and the F-14. And the Phanotm seems to be even better.
Viggen eh...Made it go warp 9 and took them ages to fix it. Also could fly with both wings blown off.

if a full fidelity mig 29 actually brought anything relevant to the game i would be all over it. but since its seemingly not getting any precision a2g weapons, seeing as its effectively the same plane we have now but with clickable switches, i snore. a plane needs more than just clickable switches to set it apart from its lite model.

I will get both birds for a simple reason. During the Cold War in Germany the Phantom was used by the Luftwaffe (West) and the Fulcrum by the LSK/LV (East). After the German Reunification, both protected the Sky. Now I understand that feeling if you can fly an aircraft that was used by your home country's military. Which aircraft i'm more interested in? Clearly the MiG-29, it's a crazy machine.

Had that stuck in my head for a couple days before thinking needed to put it to something on video.
Man, that real footage of the cockpit with the three MFCDs would be nice to have in DCS. After flying the A-10c and F/A18c I've gotten spoiled that even the F16c cockpit with only MFDs feel outdated. But the Mig looks like a lot of fun to fly.
Me too! My next upgrade will be WinWing MIP MFDs.
@AIRWARFAREGROUP I've been debating if I want to create my own or buy theirs. Lots of DIY MFCDs lurking around. But, the plug and play of WinWing is tempting.
I'm discussing the MFD improvements with ED and WinWing next month in Las Vegas. The issue is on the DCS side.
I hope it has the same quality like the Heatblur F-4, if not better.
I don't want the cliffhanger reskin of the cockpit and that's it.
I also wish it was the Mig-29SM, but I understand they can't.
I can't wait for the Mig-29, I would love to preorder now, and get back to DCS. 😊

I am getting the F-4E Phantom, and I will get the Mig-29A Fulcrum, but I am kinda curious as to why they went for the A model.
I'm sure the community will speculate on why. Honestly, I don't know other than it's an older model and easier to do without getting into too much classified information.
The 9.12 was exported to enough different places that the documentation is available. Anything newer is still classified by the Russian government.
What about the ones outside of the Russian alliance?

Had already preordered the F4E so can’t wait for tomorrow to arrive. Will be getting the MiG29A as well. The best thing about both these planes as that they are REDFOR and BLUEFOR. All depends on the livery you put on. Same with the Viper to a certain degree. Pakistan and Türkiye both fly them. One day they are friends, the next day sanctions. Anyway, politics aside, fun times ahead. 😊
Absolutely love the Mig 29. It's shape and stance is just perfect in my opinion. That's coming from Tornado GR and Typhoon ground crew. Everything a fighter should be... hit it with a hammer, and it keeps going.

I love aviation and never ignore the modules of legendary aircraft. The Phantom is a legend and I don't want to miss the opportunity to study this wonderful aircraft. Developers very rarely spoil us with new modules, so I buy almost everything that appears in the ED store.

I jumped the gun too fast on the F-4. I understood that, while the carrier-capable-version was going to be a "different module", I understood like the F-14A and the F-14B are "different modules". I thought I was, eventually, going to get the other version for the price of my purchase. I was wrong. This looks great and the video is superbly done! I think EDs stance of full realism and historicity and having 0 planes "from the other side" makes for a very one-sided scenario, so this is a great addition. Not sure I'd go for it (I already have too many modules), but I should have probably done as you and skipped the F-4E (and the SA map).

I can't get the F4 or the Mig 29. I have already bout Afghanistan i only have 109 gis left. That's after moving South Atlantic to my HDD. I would have never imagined a 2 TB M.2 wouldn't be enough.
Im dont know what im going to do if this Kola update is more than 10 gigs.
Wow, thanks for the information and I have a one terabyte that is about half full with DCS and it's a dedicated DCS drive. But then again I don't own any of the maps past South Atlantic. That's another consideration for future world, maps, and everything like that is if they're gonna be hard loaded on our machines, it's going to be huge

@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Sukhoi Su-17 Fitter for the Soviets but it was also known as the Su-22 in it's export designation. It came into service with the Soviets in the early 70's but saw use elsewhere. It was a variable wing fighter bomber.
The MiG 27 was a specialised variant/successor of the MiG 23.

I thing the UB is straight up ugly but the Fulcrum A is one of the prettiest jet ever made. I really dislike that "stick" between the Flanker's engines but the 29 has its airbrakes there and it looks so much better. I grew up in Huungary and we've had 28 Fulcrum A and a couple UBs. I have seen them flying a lot and will never forget the sound of those Klimov RD-33 engines ( and the smoke lol ). Really hope they will get the sound right, its pretty much 80% of the reason I am buying the module.

We're severely lacking in FF REDFOR, for sure, especially modern jets.
I got the F-4E. But I'll be flying the MiG-29!
(I have enjoyed the FC3 MiG-29, but I have been saying for years I'd buy a FF version in a heartbeat. Can't wait to put my money where my mouth is.)
It's gonna be a magical game changer to get a GEN four capable Soviet built fighter. When you think about it, it was developed before the Cold War ended. I'm sure we have all the other Russian hardware but nothing this modern and even the issue 25 frog foot, FC three isn't in the running.
Mig-29A is intresting becouse it is eighties version. Phantom will be kind of same era and there is others too like mod A-4. But do we have good map for that decade. Hopefully rumours about central Europe map with iron curtain, Berlin wall and East Germany military will come true.
We could almost build a Cold War, Vietnam, error, library and genre within DCS world couldn't we?
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP I like to have map versions. Like the newest Kola map WW2 era: Germans and Finns pushing toward Murmansk and USA convoing stuff to ruskies. Gold war/moderni times (2005) between NATO vs. RUS and neutral FIN and SWE in the middle or the whole Scandinavia on blue side. Great opportunities for all kind of mission/campaign scenarios.

Agreed...will be interesting. I'm just hoping for full cockpit switchology and the ability to SIMPIT assign each switch realistically.
Russian jets to me are so...... meh. Ugly, antique, weird coloring inside.... but the Fulcrum! Man, that is one sexy beast, really enjoyed flying it in Falcon. Reading "Fulcrum" by Alexander Zuyev also got me interested in the MiG-29. I am getting the F-4E, but I cannot wait to try out a Fulcrum.
Heatblur is the best module maker for DCS. not only are they bringing this cold war classic but also bringing the Typhoon!
Agreed, they are amazing devs and put out the best modules in DCS. For me it's the airplane and if I desire to own/fly it. I don't own it if I don't want to fly it. Never even tempted to do the trials. For me, Fulcrum, Corsair, Hellcat and a future F-15C Full-Fidelity Module and Please, Please, Please can we get an HH-60G Pavehawk released when the Blackhawk Module comes to DCS.
to be fair they are the best because their only real competition just went broke. now theyre just the best in an empty room.

I feel it's going to be a real challenge to learn my first full-fidelity modern fighter above the only one I own, MiG-15. I flew the FC3 version along with the others in that pack, but after diving into jets like the Hornet and Viper and the warbirds of FF status, I can't fly FC3 anymore. So funny i ran across this. Ive had serious reservations about gettingbthe F4 and the more a pause on it, the more i seriously doubt i will get it. I dont have any modern jets in DCS. Im a Tomcat guy 100% so its hard for me to switch out my f14 stick ...in fact...ive NEVER switched it out! I have FC3 and never used it. With a FF Fulcrum module!? That might just get me to switch my flight stick.
You know there's nothing wrong with the F4. In my opinion. It's just not for me. Good point what you said about FC three because I am tempted, really tempted to install it again just to fly the 29 but I don't want to be frustrated when I can't click the cockpit and I don't know how much of it is programmable to all my buttons and switches forthe HOTAS and panels. I tried to set up the F15C and it just wasn't doable. I hope this video doesn't discourage anyone from getting the F4, as it's not about that. It's simply a remarkable tribute to the Fulcrum.
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP no.. its not a discouragement at all. I was already on the fence. Not because of the F4. Like many, I wanted it as bad as everyone else. For me time isn't a luxury to be spent learning and flying all the various modules. Goals get in the way of my entertainment..consistently..lol Second...now that it's here...I still feel it's incomplete on 2 fronts. I NEED the Navy version(Big Nose Amy I dubbed it) and I NEED a Vietnam map. When that happens... I will make concessions.
Bogey Dope had a friend who offered a free copy of the F-4 to me and I declined saying "give it to someone who will fly it and can't afford it.

Word...@DANZIG, never even in trial mode. I'm USAF and vector towards land-based systems. The Hornet C was an exception and I have the Viper and Mudhen as well as the Apache, but still mostly flying the Legacy Hornet. 😀

I would say the f14 is by far the most lifelike plane in terms of sound and feel in dcs. Next to warbirds .
I don't doubt that…HEATBLUR do an amazing job with all the modules. I just don't fly by things that I don't feel interested in.
No doubt there is quite an allure to this bird.... in fact I'll go out and say that the Mig29 is the best looking fighter aircraft produced outside the United States. Nothing made in Europe, India or China comes close...
In fact in regards to design, what would you match it up against?
You might have to go all the way to the TomCat to match the sleek lines....
The F18 is smaller, The F15 is beefier but a box... F16 single engine and the F22 is a different category...

When I was in the Viper community in Korea, the matched jet to the F-16 C at the time was the Fulcrum. In fact, I bought an F-16 from our squadron and a MIG 29 set of training sticks and have them hanging on my wall on my SIM pit room. I think you're right… This is one of the most beautiful birds in the world. 😀
