These videos have changed the way I eat lunch. Now my desk lunch is more of a presentation and kind of a ceremony of unwrapping, brewing tea in a teapot, etc. Love these videos.
I had no idea this is even a thing. After watching the first video that was recommended to me yesterday I have now decided to binge watch these from the beginning. You are doing great work! So refreshing from the crap I watch on RUclips.
This and that very first MCI review were released November 27th 2015 - long before any subscribers. My first sub was a Japanese fellow. Gschultz9 gave me my first big break with a shout out and got me 152 subs in a night. Those original subscribers - some are still around and it's really cool when I see 'em. A simpler time - I told a good friend if I work hard enough maybe I'll be lucky enough to get 10,000 subs in the first year. It's been an amazing journey. Thank you for checking this oldie out.
That's awesome you remember some of those folks who originally subscribed. I love that your videos have always had a consistent tone and personality, even way back on this one. You're a down to Earth dude it seems and I wish you the best, let's see 1M subs this year! ;)
This video was the first time I ever saw Charms candy (I had no idea they even made such a thing, but I was aware of Charms Blow Pops). I went and ordered some from Old Time Candy and they are nice! It is amazing how similar the wrappers look to the ones in the video, but the candies themselves have a dimple on both sides that the ones in the video lack.
I think they were using a very natural chicle that was grey in those days. I remember Chiclets as a kid in the 70's being grey after chewing, even the green coated ones. Bubble gum was pink and Fruit Stripe was white with color stripes sprayed on so it had a slighty colored grey-white. Wrigleys gums in stick form were all grey. Even Juicy Fruit. Wait, Big Red was red. The color craze came in the early days of the 80's with Hubba Bubba, Chaw, Big League Chew, Freshen UpUp, Extra and others I forget.
Seeing those old Charms rolls brought back many good memories (though I don't think I'd pay $75 bucks!!!), as do all of these videos. As a kid I fondly remember my dad coming home on leave and giving me a can or two of unused C-rations usually god awful canned white bread and a ham and lima beans concoction. Of course nothing could have been cooler to use while camping in the back yard or playing Army, and the fact that he had to eat that kakka to survive never came across my young mind.
You definitely improved in production value in your newer videos Steve, I'm also happy you haven't changed too much from how you present your videos.Theres is also something about your absolute wholesome character that makes your videos so entertaining and education. Keep it up Steve!
Steve's very first review and I've tried watching all these guys that he says to watch and I guess it's just the MRE community that likes watching each other but to be honest he's the only one I enjoy watching no one else is As relaxing as he is to what
Im glad he did tbh. I remember the first video that I saw of him with his unshaved arms and it was pretty distracting. Each hair looks like they're glowing. Not noticeable when he's a far ofcourse but not when he's preparing the stuff on his desk.
Watching this video on Thanksgiving 4 years to the day after he first posted it is amazing. Still learning how to do these videoes. Has gotten really good with practice. Excellent
Don't worry Steve I'll be sticking around for the rest of your videos. Honestly I'd like to thank you for bringing these videos to us! Can't wait to see what you bring for us to watch next. If possible I'd love to see another ration with the "spam can" key those seem to be my favorite! And also I hope you and your loved ones have a Merry Christmas aswell!
That sounds extremely exciting! I can't wait, and I'll be sure to let you know what I think of the videos! Also you seem to have an amazing collection! Have you considered doing a video of just showing us the rations you have(not opening them, just showing us)? Telling us which is your favorite, and explaining how and what they were used for? I'd really be interested in checking that out! My apologizes if I keep making requests aswell steve. I know you probably receive alot of these, but as to them these relics really interest me because I have just always enjoyed war rations, and old war materials in general. So again, I apologize steve!

Decided to go back in time to see Steve's first videos. You only know how far you ran when you look back to see where you began. Please keep up the amazing Videos Steve! Alright. Lets get this out on my screen.
Charms were in that packaging when I bought them as a kid of around 8 in 1970. What surprises me is that they are not assorted as shown on the package - I remember grape, lime, etc. Everything tasted better back then - less crap, but you as an appreciator of the vintage knew that ;)
I'm new to the world of MRE's. Found your channel through gshultz. Loving these old rations, it's like finding a time capsule. I can't believe how well the candy packaging looked and even more surprised by you sampling it! Can't wait to see what's up next. :D
