What a truly beautiful thing it is to see your Dad and you working so well together on this whole project.. Should be adopted as a public information film as an example of family harmony.. Can't wait for the next installment...Cheers guys 🍺🍺
Really love seeing you and your Dad working together on the projects. I lost my Dad a couple of years ago, but I'm thankful of all the time he spent with me in the garage growing up. I'm sure I must of frustrated the hell out of him cutting up many a piece of prime timber and using up countless screws and nails! Seeing you guys working together reminds me so much of me and my Dad, so please keep the videos coming. Cheers ..
Fantastic remodeling of the garage! You guys are great together. I'm crazy about your dad, too. Thanx to the RUclips powers-that-be that put your vid up on my "suggestions".
I converted my loft to warm roof like this. Made a huge difference to the house: cooler in summer, cheaper to heat, and the loft is completely dry so you can store stuff without worrying about it getting damp or covered in atmospheric grime.
How did you deal with ventilation? I have 200mm rockwool vented from the eves but the cowboys who did my soffits fu*ked that up. I have to do it again and would like a warm roof solution
@@David_Walker16-3-51 theres a 50mm airgap between the insulation and the felt, and the soffits are vented (PVCu). The rafters are 150mm, there's 100mm Cellotex between, taped, then cross-lined with 50mm Cellotex so no cold bridge.
I love what you guys did extending the garage, job well done! Also it was very welcoming to see this type of content next to the Mini M1 Conversion build. Can't wait what your next plan is to make better next to the Mini...
Hi Guys, What a fantastic quality workshop you've created,😎 All your hard work has paid off in spades.😍 I re-roofed my double garage with those plastic coated steel profile sheets but ran out of money to insulate it & the condensation is quite bad when it's icy in Winter, One of these days I'll get it finished. Love to see you & your dad working together on these projects, Thanks for the videos.
Have a look at Total Container Solutions, we manufacture Grafo-Therm which will prevent your dripping roof condensation. Unfortunately even if you insulate you will still experience condensation
You and your Dad are doing a great job! I'm jealous with the room you have now! I'm still working out of my 8' X 18' shed! As for the insulation I did the same thing you have done on the walls and celling! I'm warm and toasty in the winter with just a single element propane burner.
Love the recycling of pallets and that pallet lever, very echo friendly. Why not cover the ceiling with a plasterboard taped and skimmed joints the paint with a silk finish emulsion. Alternative would be a pre finished board but a lot dearer. Great job so far.
Great work guys, I have serious 'shed envy'. I'm lucky I have the use of a relatives large garage, but if I had my own, I would be doing something similar to yours. I've been following you since you started and always look forward to the updates. Down to earth, practical and most of all enjoyable. Keep it up!
I had the same condensation issue in my metal garage. We don’t get the same cold temperatures here in Australia but it can get to mid 40’s during summer. I used a foil thermal barrier, followed by insulation bats and then 4mm MDF sheets which have one side coloured gloss white. The white ceiling finish has brightened the garage considerably by reflecting light and the sheets reduce the amount of dust falling from above onto the car. I would highly recommend doing this.
Looks great! So good to see you and your Dad working together, he is a treasure. Look forward to more on the Mini project. Take care and God Bless. And may the New Year bring joy and happiness to you and your family.
Hi guys great build a man needs his shed so love your build. We are lucky in New Zealand timber is plentiful most homes in NZ are made of timber. Many are not insulated so the government has free loans and subsidies to make our homes warmer. I worry about your dad walking around all all those broken pallets and having a fall. My dad had a bad fall at his home and never recovered. He pasted away 8 weeks later . Not hard to see how much you love your dad so not trying to scare you but thats why I worry about those things. Thank you for sharing this video with us.
Great job Mark and Dad, you need to vent the interstitial space between the underside of the Galvanized sheets and your new insulation boards, simple trickle vents should do the trick. What about a vent hole in the wall to expel air when spraying. Your propane heater will add gallons of moisture into the atmosphere in there ! Well done to you both, beds, sink and cooker next !! Regards, Paul
G'day guys, Kevin here from Australia. WOW that's gunna be one warm as toast workshop. You've done an excellent job. I love the recycling of the pellets they add a nice patina. Thanks for sharing and both of you and your families have a wonderful Christmas. ✌🏻 Peace.
it's nice to see you doing some good work on the garage walls looking really good and a quality finish wen will you be cracking on with the mini looking forward to seeing the finished and on the road thanks steve
Lovely job, as others have said it's nice to see you and your Dad working together. One bit advice though, corrugated tin roofs 'sweat' for a past time and you'll often see condensation forming on the underside. Usually if you were insulating rafters with a tin roof, you'd leave a small ventilation gap behind the insulation (20-50mm) at the top and bottom of the ridge so that the outside air can wick away any moisture that forms on the bottom of the corrugated sheets. Spray insulation is the only way around that, hence why it's used for things like shipping container conversions. As you sealed your ridges with foam, let us know how you get on and whether you have any developing damp/mould issues.
i did mine with bubblewrap stapled in the voids, thick black polythene cover then 3/8th ply followed by matt emulsion and my garage is now a nice place in winter so yours will be like an oven, lol, well done both of you and its great you get on with yoiur dad in the garage as me and my lad {37yo} spend most of the time disagreeing.
Great project and use of recycled pallets. You inspired me to get on with insulating my wife’s art studio. Only thing I would do differently is that I’d paint it all white. Walls and ceiling. Basically for better work lighting. Keep the videos coming.
great build, lovely job, not sure if you've done the ceiling yet but i lined my whole garage with hollow soffit boards, they come in 5m lengths x 300mm wide, fairly easy to work with and nice and bright and clean
Thank you 🙂 My Dad worked in open cast driving all the machines, apparently he was very good on the huge old Grader’s and the dragline Navie’s and he also did fitting, he also had is on car maintenance garage for quite a few years in the 80’s. He’s done a lot of other different jobs too. We’ll maybe do a bit of a video with some of the old photos one day.
Hello guys or rather, the "Dynamic Duo " ! Brilliant work ! You made me laugh ....when the price of timber drops ......don't hold your breath !😅😅 l did wonder where the mini was . That 6mm beauty board sounds ideal .We used to use a peelable white paint in our spraybooths . But in reality you have to weigh up the cost of making the room completely dust proof against how many times will you use it . And !!! A good flat down will do the trick ! Keep up the good work !
For the ceiling you could use thin ply or hardboard, but I would seal the walls and ceiling (if ply) with a clear coat or may be white on the ceiling to reflect the light. Think about LED lights better, brighter, and very white good for spraying with no reflections.
Great team work I see you give your dad the easy job ? Not! pallet striping the shops becoming a DezRez you’ll have lodgers next fanbloodytastic workshop well done stay safe 👍👨🏻🏭
I'm still impressed by your job. You both have of Golden hands. Your videos are pretty rare, but they are always excellent quality videos, and very relevant. Each time it's a pleasure. Cheers!
Great job guys! You'll tinker in there till for decades. I've just left my kingspan ceiling as taped up kingspan. It's dust proof etc, and after all, its just a shed ceiling. I just scuffed it up with scotch brite and spray gun emulsion painted it, no one notices..... original plan was to fly over it with 9mm OSB ply, but its just more weight, more expense (especially at the moment) and more effort. Maybe one day. I insulated my roof same as you in the dream of a warmer garage - which it will be, but the magic is summer - it'll be really cool in there if you can keep the doors shut. The silver foil reflects the heat of the sun bobby dazzler!
Lads, I love the work you are doing and the regular content. Can I offer some friendly advice from a builder with 35 years experience? The thermal boarding work is of an excellent quality but please do allow the air gap above those thermal boards to be ventilated or you will get condensation building up on the underside the steel sheet roof. Particularly if you use a propane gas heater which produces moisture as the burnt gas reacts with oxygen. A simple row of vents at eaves level, in the facia, and an air gap at the top of the roof slope (to the outside air) will allow the roof to vent itself. Remember the steel sheets, like a sheet of single glazed glass, will be the first to suffer from condensation as the 'dew point' for those materials is below that of the internal air. Low pitched roofs, like yours, suffer more as the condensation will form drips that cannot run away because of the low angle. Simple ventilation will draw away the slightly moist air and you will get no condensation. I do hope this helps you keep the new workshop both warm and dry. Please accept this advice in the friendly and helpful vein that I intended. Steve
Hi I really appreciate this, thank you for for taking the time to explain the ventilation. Now you’ve explained it it makes total sense what you’re saying, we will definitely vent that bit above the insulation 😁👍
looks fantastic, your Dad is amazing. you made this job look so easy, agree it´s not complicated but certainly takes time, and using the old pallets made a wonderful finish to the walls. for the ceiling may not be the perfect solution but maybe hardboard as it is light to put up and easy to give a coat of paint so you reflect the light down and you can tape the joints, well done the pair of you. Brilliant to see you and your dad working so nicely together👍👍😎😎

Love the way you two crack on get it done. 👌🏻
To keep costs down use 8 x 4 4mm shiny faced hardboard sheets. Fix them up with decorative screws and maybe pin wooden strips over the joints.
Great fun video love working with my dad too

Great job boys!!!
Really great job, looks good. I enjoyed watching that. Thanks.
Top job lads, I’ve definitely got shed envy.
Great work as ever lads . That’s a proper man cave you’ve got coming on there 👍
Looks like a bought one, well done lads.

Lovely job so far you can get MDF with 1 side painted in white that is a really good job for the roof or use PVC sheeting
