    Video Request: Siteworks surfaces to Earthworks. Let's say you have a sidewalk at one slope tying to a street at a different slope tying to a valley pan. Would it be better to create 3 separate designs or have all of the line work and surfaces under 1.

    Great video.
    Question on Elevation:
    -When you completed the No Control Pont Calibration in SiteWorks you set your elevation to 100.
    -Then when you shot your points to create the break-line SiteWorks captured the actual grade at each points location (99.457, 100.304 and so on)
    -Then when you imported the linework file into EarthWorks and hovered the bucket over the points the elevation was the actual point height (99.475, 100.304 and so on).
    -Then you went into the Vertical Offset> Advanced Options and entered a Working Surface of -4.00ft
    My question is- How does EarthWorks know to use the 100 elevation from your SiteWorks control point calibration for the offset elevation (100-4=96ft working surface) and not each points actual elevation (99.457-4=95.457ft, 100.304-4=97.304ft and so on)?
    Is that the difference between the entering an offset in Vertical Offset>Offset And entering it in Vertical Offset>Advanced Options>Working Surface Offset?

      The working surface will not correct any errors in the elevation or level it out. I appreciate you bringing this up, because I did create this in error by not changing the elevations on the points before exporting. I should have set all those before I did that. I created 4 videos back to back in the field that day and the one right before this one was me shooting all the house feather points and not caring about the elevations because when I put it in earthworks and created an infield design, I was able to correct the elevations there and level it all out. So when I switched to this video I did the same process but did not correct the elevations. The only reason they are relatively close is because the existing ground was not to far off. Sorry for the false info here, I will need to correct that one variable. Your observation is correct on needing to edit those elevations prier to exporting or else the earthworks machine will just use the 3D linework as is. Thanks again and thanks for watching.

    there was no explanation of what a "Work Order", "Line String", "thumb drive" are 😕
