Your drop in paddle is good, strong. Plus your stil in the green of the wave.
But your pop up needs to be quicker. You have both hands too close together too long.
Once your pop up is instinctually one quick motion, you’ll be in a better position earlier in the wave.
Your looking down at the board during your pop up. Look into the wave, in the direction you want to go. Wherever your looking, you’ll go.
    Practice at home doing burpees.
Don’t let go of your board on the paddle out.
Paddle hard, Turtle roll and push out, the wave will roll through you. But you have to be strong to quickly get back upright. Hope this helps. 🤙🏼

With such a big board work on taking the wave earlier. You were gaining too much speed and then having trouble with the bottom turn leading to the bail. Take the wave earlier and then stall a bit to see what the wave is doing. Plant your back foot to turn the board in the direction you want to go. After that you could even walk the nose or just ride it out depending on what the wave is doing. Hope this advice helps. I was making the same mistakes a couple years ago. But when I finally caught on after watching the pros in the lineup it was a real game changer… 👍

Nice conditions with not that much people out!
In Hawaii where im from it would be super crowded in the water
work on ur pop ups more
Turtle roll if u think its too steep to go over or if u think its going to break on u (only bail ur board as a last resort, its a big hazard if u bail ur board to everyone else in the water)
Look at where u want to go before popping up and when u want to turn
Also when u want to turn try stepping back on ur board a little more bc u said ur board wanted to go left when u wanted to go right so that might help
When paddling into a wave try to paddle in on a angle, not too much tho or u will get flipped over
I dont know how speed pumping works on longboards but i think its the same as on a shortboard
So just compress on decompress ur body in a hard up and down motion when ur on a steeper part of the wave is the best way i can explain it
It will feel a little weird at first but when u do it a couple time it will be easy
It will definitely help u make the section so u dont get closed out on.
Also try ur best to ride the top half of the wave, its where u will be fastest so that will also help u make turns and make sections
Everyone was a beginner at some point so dont get discouraged by the negative comments as long as ur having fun is the most important thing.

      yeah ofc!
      Also heres some more tips
If ur wanna make ur fun board faster and more maneuverable I suggest a Twin plus trailer or like when the center fin is a little bit smaller like the futures AM1’s or the FCS2 reactors,i only really ride fcs bc it has work the best for me but i have used futures AM1’s on a 7’2 funboard when i used to ride big boards and it pivoted really fast and also had enough hold to make big carves and hold in bigger waves

You are putting to much stress on that leash, my dude. Try to be more responsible of your board and stop it from going away of you, you could hit someone. A board that big is a big responsability in the water. And try to do turtle rolls or get behind your board and push it against and over the foam, it helped me a lot in medium size waves. Keep riding
