What i love about this scene is that yondu wasn't really trying to be funny, he was claiming to be something what quill said to him, thus shouting out loud, like a kid thinking his father is a hero and the father shouting with such pride and joy. It's the little thoughts like these what makes GoTG2 movie so great.

He is not saying “I’m Mary Poppins y’all!” just for shits and giggles, he is owning his “son’s” comment that he is cool. So heartwarming.

I got to see Michael Rooker at El Paso Comic Con yesterday. He is by far the absolute nicest guy ever. And during his panel, the final question he was asked. "Could you please say I'm Mary Poppins y'all?" He simply laughed a little, smiled and said... "Only if y'all join me in saying it." And sure enough he got all of us in that room to join him in saying. "I'M MARY POPPINS Y'ALL!"
This is one of the top 5 most beautiful moments in the MCU. The score, the cinematography, and the emotional tone of the moment. They come together so perfectly. This franchise was a gift to this sad world.
The "Mantis, look out" part is funny and all, but I loved the emotion of this moment, with all the guardians standing together for the first time, their whole team finally completed, and it kinda killed it there.
I always come back every now and then just to replay that camera revolving around them as a team. Very nice moment killed for some humor, but overall still funny.
James Gunn is great at juggling emotions. That's why I despise Disney for firing him over tweets he made years ago. Tweets they knew about, before they even hired him in the first place. And what do you know, Disney's Mary Poppins Returns will be in theaters in December. I won't watch it though. After the next Avengers, I'm done giving Disney my money. Those fuckknuckles!
This genuinely never fails to makes me smile. Peter doesn't try to correct him like many people would do, but instead he plays along and calls Yondu 'Cool.' God, I miss Yondu. Wish he stayed around a little longer. I would've loved to see some more father-son bonding moments between Quill and him.

Not to mention how powerful his "ability" would've been against Thanos and his army. I mean we all saw how fast he cleared out that spaceship. Even if his arrow couldn't hurt Thanos, he could've taken out a large amount of his soldiers all by himself, from a safe distance away.

In Infinity War, he used the Reality Stone to get rid of Peter's gun at Knowhere and also to prevent Gamora from killing herself on Vormir. Or could he just block it like how he did with Loki's dagger. I reckon the arrow would've easily wiped out Thanos's forces in Wakanda and even Endgame. It's debatable on if it could've worked against Ebony Maw's powers though.
I love how in a scene with none of the original avengers or most money-making characters, it shows you everything there is to love about marvel. The emotional impact, the humor, the lessons, the complex love, the characters, the sci-fi, etc.
The delivery on those three lines "Is he cool?" "Hell yeah he's cool." "I'm Mary Poppins y'all!" Is superb. Absolutely brilliant, people have already described it better that I can in the comments but yes, it's just fantastic work. I'm being 100% serious, not cuz it's a funny scene but the significance of it all and the way they each speak to each other in that moment is beautiful.

There was this book I read, "Ghost Soldiers," that was about these prisoners of war during WWII. These prisoners had nicknamed one of their guards "Donald Duck" because he kept flying into these ridiculous rages that reminded them of the character. When the guard confronted the prisoners and asked about the nickname they all rallied up and were like "Donald Duck is super famous! He's a celebrity back in our country! A movie star!" and the guard from then on demanded to be referred to as Donald Duck. That being said, later on the prisoners were allowed to watch some Disney cartoons and one of them happened to include Donald Duck, so unfortunately that didn't last very long.
I need a GotG prequel just to have more Yondu. I'm more than certain they could come up with something good taking place sometime during the timeskip after Quill was abducted.
But the wrong kind of nerds complain that Marvel undercuts all the drama with funny moments! I don't get that complaint myself. If I wanted Pathos I wouldn't be watching Marvel movies to begin with.

This scene just works so well. It's scenes like this that gave the movie a lot of charm. It's a joke but the meaning behind it is so heartwarming. Unironically one of the most memorable scenes in the entire movie. Maybe even the franchise.

There was this book I read, "Ghost Soldiers," that was about these prisoners of war during WWII. These prisoners had nicknamed one of their guards "Donald Duck" because he kept flying into these ridiculous rages that reminded them of the character. When the guard confronted the prisoners and asked about the nickname they all rallied up and were like "Donald Duck is super famous! He's a celebrity back in our country! A movie star!" and the guard from then on demanded to be referred to as Donald Duck.
That being said, later on the prisoners were allowed to watch some Disney cartoons and one of them happened to include Donald Duck, so unfortunately that didn't last very long.
