The truck looks great! Awesome job. Totally changed the trucks personality. Went from looking like a work truck to a muscle truck. So cool
Im so glad I dont have to mess with that much rust down here. Truck looks sick as hell tho man!
4/6 is like the perfect lower for an actually driven truck. The front springs shouldn't be too bad
Different with out your dad helping wrench with the torch. Honestly your my favorite youtuber to watch work. You really seem to know how to get shit done or know how to bs for the cam either way it beats others by a mile. Started watching a couple channels to see glorious fails but it's just to painful. Thanks for making these vids.
Its definitely just BS lol
11:08 haha! perfect music choice! that was nice editing!
I did a 5/6 drop on my OBS. I love it even though I had to trim the lower control arms
Truck looks 100x better! Just noticed at 11:00 how huge those rear tires look on James Brown 👀👀
Front is freaking perfect... I’ve heard of the method where you measure how much of a drop you want. Let’s say 5” so you measure the coil and mark it at 2-1/2” and that should do.
The fact that you know who Marty Robbins is just made you even cooler. Nice Work.
Southern guys freaking out, you are so right, I own a 1990 GMC Sierra and it has no rust anywhere on the chassis, I have taken the bed fenders , hood and other things for painting and is pristine compare to northern trucks. My truck is a Georgia and Florida truck. Great video.
From the moment I saw the under bed of that truck i was just waiting for you to say it's all okay. Lmao
Doing the same to my 90 step side, thanks for the tip on the front springs 👊✌
I have a 92 stepside looking to lower it myself. How'd it go?
Haven't done it yet been building bikes and replacing the 4.3 in my girls blazer
Did both sides of the step sides measure the same ground to body when you were finished?
Looks a lot better good job great video keep up the great work
Like how you guys didnt make it seem all out of this world str8 to it and to the point and it looks koooolllll
Looks awesome. Huge improvement for sure.
Looking pretty good.. I did my 99 and I took one too many coils off the front but it turned out ok.. Just really low..
Good I was confused by some videos tank you the explanation on the rear wheel mounted plates help me a lot
It’s not often you find someone who knows or better yet even listens to Marty Robbins.
12:06 pausing and looking up “lowered Prius” 😂😂😂
Yeah me too and there are no words to describe what I saw
That looks sweet. Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't mind taking a cut off wheel to some springs lol
I'd rather cut springs properly instead of drop coils. I have always found them to be too soft and bouncy
how many coils were cut off in this vid?
@@estebanrodriguez7361 1 1/2
Hell yeah man looks way better !!
Who else was waiting for the back to drop when Josh made the cuts? Agree that it looks completely different, very much worth the effort.
I had the engine hoist under the bumper 👌👌 I'm dumb, not stupid lol
The rear c brackets between the leaf spring and rearend are they directional when you put them in does it matter which way it goes when you put them on?
Did you guys think about taking out the bottom overload spring on the leaf we usually take those out was just curious 🧐
Clifford looks awesome!
You guys keep giving me ideas... I dont wanna mess with mine too much
How does it ride on cut springs, i know its not good but how bad is it
Which way did you install the block center pin offset
It turned out sweet. Great job and video 👍👍🇨🇱
Just got one of these and just found this Chanel let’s get itttt
Excellent, she's on point. Will have to do mine.
Sounds good what kind of exhaust do you have under it?
Looks good makes me excited to see jack black with a big block
Good To See another truck From The Rust belt Of the nation, ( I'm In MN) Where-By Both Spring & Box Bolts Are Stubborn as hell let alone Spins the Factory Insert Box threads. Good Comprehensive Vid, U=Bolts R Not Cheap though. Love the Dash Add-in Gauge Panel, Too. Oh, Any-One Advice/Suggestions On Best 1/2" Impact Wrench To Buy With Good warranty Strong Enough For Spring/U=Bolts , My Last napa One didnt last 5 Minutes Of Continual use, & Too many taiwan Ones Out there Don't know Which is Good or Not. Thanx
What's up with the 76 camaro out by the fiero?? U gonna put a ls in it?......ls4 for the fiero would be super dope but I don't know if it could be done affordably.....
So can you drop with just a flip kit? I’ve never lowered a truck so I’m not too familiar
have you extended the shocks with a shackle?
GREAT UP GRADE !!!! THANKS !!
awesome video, looks like i’m dropping my truck in my driveway, LOL...!!!
Whats the rim and tire sizing for the rear? I like that combo.
I always wondered if the Ebay kit was good I have a 1989 c1500 that I'm planning on dropping
Yep, no matter what it is it looks better lowered!
Awesome bro I just did a 4/6 on my 97 came out awesome 😎
Looks dope bro
Did you cut the springs from the bottom or the top
How good is the eBay flip kit holding up?
Just beautiful job!
I hope you have a torch setup man... Cause living in the rust belt it's needed
Our southern rust is basically dust. Just take an air blower to it and it’s good as new haha.
I'm jealous lol
Need help My ign fuse keeps on blowing (randomly) but it starts up and runs fine, even when it’s blow any suggestions, I do notice my fuel gauge goes crazy
You have a grounded wire somewhere in line, i would start at the fuel tank and go to the motor you will find it.
My truck is my icon>1980 chevy long bed 5' axle flip 2' drop shackle's completely static in the rear. No c notch 4' drop springs for a 3/4 ton up front because its to low with 1/2 springs.Danger to oil pan!!!!!!!!! But it rides like a slammed Volvo !!!
I just dropped my obs ext cab over the weekend 4/6 drop waited months on a djm kit and the covid had everything on back order finally found some belltech spindles at summit ordered them and built the flip kit and c notch myself and cut a lil over a full coil out of the front springs
Can you post a pic of your ext cab? I’m about to drop mine and idk how low I want it
@@briansharp1610 yeah I can take a few pics and post them on my lil channel I'm a big guy and made the front to low to work with my 20" wheels so I ordered some 1" spaces from belltech to lift it up a lil I like a level stance with no rake and I run taller tires on the back
@@briansharp1610 ruclips.net/video/6WzQVdXYPt4/видео.html
Look at that big ol' Aerospace banner in the background. Looks good guys, GMC OBS FTW.
That looks good. I have a 88 c1500 that I'm doing right now on my channel. Maybe I should do this kit.
Snider you got to use a torch to heat up those crappy rusty bolts..makes a world of difference.
NICE altitude adjustment
Do u have to c notch it ?
Did u reuse factory shocks ??
That's a nice notch. Kinda sandwiches around the top and bottom. For 170, I'd say you got a great deal.
U should get the undercarriage redone and cleaned and mybe rhino lined.
no, do not use any kind of sealer like that. he guy before did that to my squarebody and it actaully locks in moisture casuing even more corrosion! Methods for rhino liner/truck bed sealer to work properly on the undercarriage must be extremely meticulous and the truck would have to be completely torn apart. Its better to use some kind of acidic rust remover (I think phosphoric, they have it at the hardware store). Then once you have etched it and gotten off any loose rust, you can either use a rust converter paint or brush it with used motor oil.
Epic work
Looks great!
He should get some springs and spindles when he can but the truck looks way better, nice job🤘
Agreed
What brand is the lowering kit?
Where can i buy this kit ? Any links to where i can find it ?
What was the part number for that notch kit? Or who was the seller on eBay? I gotta get me one.
Yes
Street Ray's is the brand.
Holy sheeet at the rust.
Clifford sounds great
100% agreed whatever you lower looks better
This is a easy job but they make it seem so much more than what it is 😂
Question do you still have you ebay posi unit on the gold gmc if so hows it running?
Yessir. It hasn't missed a beat
SniderTron 3000 mint now i know its reliable ima have to get one for my own👌🏻
We have rust in the south its just not as bad most of ours come from people backing in their boats and not spraying it off after
Looks great.
Which flip kit is this?
can you drop a link for the flip kit
Lmao good impacts eat those chrome sockets like candy.lol
5 years ago I had a truck that i would have done that to, but the neighbor said something to me after i mentioned putting the old 305 into a 1997 Ford Escort. just get a Thunder Bird with a 4.6 OHC... after 4 and a half more years and like $20k, still would have been a lot cheaper to put the 305 into the little ford car, but oh well that 97 escort is rusted out so bad that a basket ball can fit thru each side of the floor... fixing up a 94 Tbird in similar condition was a better investment... ... ... how much longer do ya think it will be till the frame on the truck cracks?
The frame isn’t in great shape, but it’s nowhere near as bad as it looks. And if anything actually does fail on the frame, well, I’ll figure it out then. But for now I’m just gonna rock it
@@chrissnook1225 i had a 1992 gmc i think it had the 3/4 ton frame, a similar year truck were i am has a 1/2 ton frame but its rusted out. both the same truck, one just has a heaver frame.... for all the eight or so vehicles i have driven the 1992 sierra handled like a sport car, but the back end was vary lite and the 305 only had a 2 barrel TBI on it... had nothing over an idle.
Can you post the link for the flip kit . Thanks
I know this video a year old…but what kind of cluster is in this truck? I gotta have one. Well for now until I can purchase me a Dakota digital cluster. But anywho can anyone tell me what kind /make the cluster is on this truck?
Its just sheet metal and some parts store gauges. Diy ftw
What size of tires ?
How low does a flip kit drop ? Looking to do a 2/5 drop on mines
A flip kit is typically a 6" drop
Yo man I was wondering about this process and if it would work just the same on my 97 Chevy Cheyenne 2500 longbed also it’s 8 lug I asked around at a shop and they said I would need bigger rims but I see you doing it and my wheels look the same size as this one I really want to drop my truck on a budget and this looks like the perfect way for me but need to know if mine would work out the same.
You only need bigger wheels if you do a spindle drop up front
@@SniderTron3000 so if I just cut the springs or even get drop springs up front I would be good? My tire and wheel now is a lt245/75r16 120/116q
Did you have to swap the shocks? Or did it ride okay?
I'm not entirely sure what he did for the shocks but the stock ones would bottom out
I figured they would, but I’m interested to know
is there a link to that flip kit? i can’t find one with a bolt on c notch
I believe this is the one he used
www.ebay.com/itm/6-Drop-Rear-Axle-Chevy-Frame-C-Notch-Flip-Kit-1988-1998-1500-Truck-Lowering-/201990812388?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
I just did this to mine and one of my wheels is rubbing up against the leaf spring... anyone got an answer on what to do?
Sounds like the wheels have too much backspacing
@@SniderTron3000 could be but it’s strange cause it’s only on one side
What was the kit called
U got the link for it?
Safety glasses are nice
So where is the link for ebay
Led headlights are next 👍🏼
Up north y’all have to deal with rust. And us southerners have to deal with the heat. I don’t know which one I’d rather have to deal with but definitely not both. At least y’all did some weight reduction while you’re at it with all that crap falling off
Yes, we need a link to this cheap flip kit!
Chris bought it. I guess just search C1500 flip kit on ebay lol
and i just paid $800 in labor and the cost of Beltech 2/4 kit and i KNOW i wont be low enough for my liking... ugh.. saving on labor is key!
Whats the kit link?
Thanks man! New u bolts? check!
I need the link to the music in the video
What’s the tire size (rear)on that beast?
275/60r15
So for the front drop all it is was cut springs?
Yessir
@@SniderTron3000 what'd yall use for shocks?
@@2wdDenali I wanna say s10 shocks
How do you drop the front ??
Cut the springs
👌👌
