- Stephen's Sausage Roll Part 1 - after a year of requests, the game finally begins. What makes this game so great? It's a puzzle game for puzzle game masters and the level design is constantly fresh and impeccable. Solving puzzles has never felt as satisfying or rewarding, as this game never reuses concepts or allows the player to brute force.

Ditto. If you're already prepared to watch a puzzle stream, Stephen's Sausage Roll is gonna be one of the best ones for the later levels. Aliensrock didn't even get to the points where this game becomes mind-blowing. There's a reason it inspired the creator of Baba is You.

A custom level editor would be beyond amazing in this game. I can see people making some ridiculously hard solutions.

Steven's Sausage Roll is probably the best designed puzzle game of all time. Every single level teaches a small concept and the ruleset is extremely simple. There are essentially no new mechanics in the style of Baba is You or Braid or The Witness. Another game designer would have been tempted to add in new elements like moving platforms, or teleporters, or enemies, or different shapes of sausages, but Stephen's Sausage Roll keeps it pure. Every level is composed of a playing field made of blocks, grates and the sausages. The entire game is just figuring out every single emergent property of how those elements interact.
But for difficulty and overall ambition, I still have to give it to Baba is You. The hardest Steven's Sausage Roll level took my around 2 hours. Several Baba is You levels took me 3+ hours and the solution was never unfair - it always felt earned.
Drinking game: take a shot each time Tyler says “sausage”
if you and ten friends passed a single shot around and had one person drink for each time, you'd still end up having at least 6 drinks in 14 minutes.
Well that sounds especially great for me because I only have 3 friends

Amazing how fast you can solve them. All the other puzzle games trained you for this very moment
I’m not too sure how well this aligns with the controls but it might work to think of Steven as the front of the character and the fork as the back, that way the pivot point is always leading and might make maneuvering easier

It's worth noting that AME was released well after Stephens Sausage Roll
I would strongly argue that SSR and AME have hardly anything in common mechanically.
The only similarity is that sausages and big trees are both 2x1.
Both games are in the sokoban genre, where you push stuff into places. So on the surface they might seem similar. By area 2 you'll start to see serious divergence, and SSR only continues to evolve and get more ridiculous from there.
This is a wonderful puzzle game to watch, but now I just want to eat sausages
Weirdly enough the first world isn’t the easiest in the game. One of the best designed puzzle games in that regard. First world they force you to really master the movement system and the later worlds build off it in different ways. First world is the only one with the tiny islands where each movement counts the rest are more open ended
