Beating Bloxorz to Mourn the Death of Flash Games
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 23 дек 2020
- Adobe Flash Player (and flash games) is going away at the end of 2020, so I've returned to Cool Math Games to beat Bloxorz once and for all. Bloxorz was my first ever puzzle game, as I played it a lot as a small child on Cool Math Games. Can I beat the game I struggled on throughout my childhood?

This year, I was really paranoid about the end of flash, so I did a little bit of research, like, on may or something like that, on how to download them, so now, i have a shitton of games and an emulator specifically made for flash games. It's really sad to see flash games end, they were what I played the most in my childhood, I didn't have consoles, so I played flash games, I have a lot of memories with them, so all I can say is, goodbye flash, you were the engine for a lot of games and animations of my childhood, I'll remember you.

For some reason flash player is still working normal on my computer
FYI: There's literally nothing stopping you from continuing to play these games after flash player is discontinued, just like there's nothing stopping you from playing an NES after they got discontinued. Flash still exists. It'll still be a plugin if you have it installed. It just won't be supported anymore.
Ehh I disagree. All the major web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) are dropping support for flash, so they won't be able to run flash at all after Jan 12. Also, Adobe themselves is blocking the usage of flash player after Jan 12. (I believe BlueMaxima flashpoint uses an older version of flash to circumvent this.) With all of this, there's no guarantee that web server owners will decide to continue to serve old flash content, especially when all the major browsers stop supporting flash. The worst case scenario is that a bunch of web server owners stop serving their flash games and they 404.
@@phlaxyr indeed, only ones I know of for certain that are keeping flash games hosted are Newgrounds (Which has a plugin for playing flash content) and Armor Games, which plans to use Ruffle to emulate flash games.

oh, if you want to continue playing flash games, a lot of them (and I mean a *lot*) have been backed up for offline play by a project called Flashpoint, and you can download each one individually if you don't have space for all of them
so, you know, if there's any other flash games you want to play in the future, you have time
My personal recommendation is the Submachine series by Mateusz Skutnik. They're really solid point-and-click puzzle games
I love his artwork, its a shame his games rarely get played by game streamers. And because they have progressed heavily throughout the years, when a streamer plays the first one they arent impressed enough to make it to the modern, better designed ones. Sub 1 was clearly a proof of concept, with sub 2 taking it to its full potential.
I really enjoyed the Hapland games on Addicting Games. Never got through their one screen puzzles and still probably couldn't because I have a bit of smooth Brain

Saw this in my recommended and decided to go back and finally beat the game for myself after all these years. And you know what? It's honestly not half bad, especially for an early Flash game that's entirely free to play. Some interesting procedural thinking/working backwards from end goals involved. My only issue was that sometimes going around trying all the troll-question-mark switches to find the helpful ones and having to restart multiple times in between could lead to a lot of repeated navigational sequences, but they were usually quick once you knew them, so it wasn't too bad.

Oh geez, this brings back memories. I didn’t even hate this game because it was difficult, I hated it because my key inputs would randomly get stuck and the block would fling itself off the edge repeatedly. I would then have to refresh the page to “fix” it and lose all of my progress in the process. Was very frustrating for little kid me.

Loved Bloxorz as a kid. I genuinely forgot it even existed until I saw the thumbnail of the video. Thanks for the nostalgia trip :)
Weird thing about Celeste music: On my playthrough of the game, the videos with the songs audible were copyright claimed. But then after about a week and some, the strikes disappeared off each video.

Man I remember during elementary school, during one of our periods we would go on the computers. Me and all my friends would race to see who could get to the highest level. We all shared one paper that held the codes to skip ahead to the most recent level so whenever we got to the computers we could all just start racing again. Whenever someone beat a level they would have to write the code down on the paper. Man fun times.
