I'm not religious at all like absolutely not at all, yet in the past 4 years that I've been a fan of you two, it has been so fulfilling to watch you grow and see how much guidance you receive through God. I genuinely could not be happier for you. I'm so excited for this new part of life for you guys, parent hood is going to suit you so much you're both the kindest and sweetest people and I feel like I personally gain so much wisdom and perspective from you.
Edit: this has gained a lot of likes so thank you all ! this isn't a religious debate so please don't make it one! This is just a sweet comment to jess & gabe & how inspiring they are! sorry if the wording isnt perfect but this is a youtube comment not an academic essay lol

I loved EVERYTHING about this 🤍 firstly, I love how y'all shared all of the little confirmations that the Lord gave you guys about moving. That is EXACTLY how the Holy Spirit speaks to us. Almost in these small whispers that grab our attention. And your story is such a perfect example of what it looks like when you are moving WITH the plan of God. His grace covers the whole situation and it's like you are effortlessly flowing in the direction of that decision without you even trying! It's like you would have to intentionally TRY to move against where He is leading you because everything (the big and the small things) are pushing you in that direction. I just love how He speaks to us! Anyways, thank you so much for sharing all of this. Such a beautiful picture of what it practically looks like to walk with the Holy Spirit 💕

I absolutely agree with everything Gabe said about leaving your hometown. I left at 18 for college in Virginia 8 hours away, met my husband, got married, and moved down here permanently. We are also pregnant with our first baby due in October, and it’s been such a rough time feeling like we’re letting people down by staying in Virginia when we know this is what God has for us in this season. We have great community & a great church here, and every time I visit home with my husband, I always tend to slip back into that 18 year old I was when I left, now at 22. Thank you for sharing your perspective on this!!!!

I'm not a religious person but i do believe in the universe giving signs. Because when you're going through stuff, there's confusion, chaos and uncertainty, but when you're progressing through or finally out of it is when you see the whole picture and it all makes sense then. So don't be bothered by sounding silly or nonsensical, if it makes sense to you! Because of this realisation, I've learnt to have faith, not in god but just have faith in myself, the people around me, humanity, the universe, and that even if it's not making sense now, it will all work out and I won't stop until it does. I guess that's what faith means, it can be however you like, whatever works for you, and that's great.

Okay. First of all. Tysm for holding back and giving us this video. I cannot believe the amount of things that happened to make you guys choose nashville but it’s amazing. It’s almost like profound and I’m catholic but I don’t necessarily see God in the way of giving you signs but rather the universe literally telling you that you are meant to be where you are meant to be. The community, the lifestyle, the trip, your assistant, dog sitting and house sitting, your car, the realtor and that bible verse. Like honestly it’s such a crazy story but this is your life and I’m so happy to be able to have some insight into how you guys made this decision and that bible verse. Crazy matthew 2.21, we call it the magic number if you see it appearing more then once to you. Similar to like looking at a clock and its 12:34 aka 1 2 3 4! Sooo happy for you guys

I have learned a lot and will continue to do so.

I grew up in a little rural town where my cousins and I lived in one compound and that magical feeling I had for my childhood never left me even though my brother and I moved to the city for high school. We recently went back and I was so shocked about the changes happening in our town and how civilized it has become. The people I used to play on the streets with have their own stuff going around and I struggle to fit my idea of our hometown with what was happening in reality. Thank you for this video!! This video made me realize that I'm not alone in feeling this sort of nostalgia about the changes happening around me and how far away it has become from the one I fell in love with.

Around 4 minutes I , I can soooo relate to coming back to your hometown after a while and not fitting in anymore. I don’t even have as much independence as other college students (I don’t have a job, live in the dorms, no car, etc) and even I feel like I’ve moved on with my life and made improvements, just to return to a town where everyone is the same as before but with more kids in their family. I feel like there’s no chance to grow there and when I go back, it’s like all the life is sucked out of me and I either need to leave, or I need to accept that I have to let go of all of the self growth I went through and be like everyone else. I’m glad to hear someone else explain it kinda similarly (or maybe I’m just assuming we feel the same LOL)

I’m so glad you guys spoke so honestly about this, because I have struggled with living far from family for a while. When I was 18 I moved 2 hours away from my family to be closer to my boyfriend and now we are married and about to move 5 hours from our hometown & family. I feel guilty, because we are about to start having children, and I grew up with a very close family dynamic. I know we can make time to visit them and our children can still grow up with good relationships with their grandparents. We are moving because my husband was going through a season of depression, similar to how Gabe described. Lots of burnout, questioning identity, wanting to provide for us without overdoing it. So we are moving to Cincinnati, which is somewhere we both love and have wanted to live for a while. We just didn’t expect it to happen so soon, but God started opening doors left and right and basically telling us to go. You guys made a good point that family shouldn’t stop you from doing what God is leading you to do. I am praying for safe travels and a safe and healthy delivery for Jess. I love you guys!! 💖

That stagnant feeling you were talking about and almost reverting back to who you were before you moved out of the family home is understandable because I left the place I grew up with my cousins at the age of 6 and then one of the times I went back (at like 21 yrs old) one of my uncles was like "you didn't used to be like this, what happened"...... it was like they were still expecting me to be that 6yr old they last saw as opposed to the adult with her own views and opinions before them, it was strange to think back on.
Ngl when you guys first revealed Nashville I was like wtf, why?? but this video and all of the clear signs from God just proves y'all are on the right track, wishing you (3 😊) all the best, very blessed to continue to witness y'all's journey.

I think many times society makes us “feel bad” for not living where are families are. Sounds mean to say “I don’t grow there” but it doesn’t mean they cannot grow there. That’s why so many places exist, there is a place for each one of us to thrive. I’m happy you are heading towards a better place for you! You can always visit your family and have them visit you.
I made the desition to move across the world 5 years ago and I can never see myself going back. The growth is too big to pass it out, we need to live our lives and be inspired to be able to make art. Even when it’s hard at first, a community perfect for you will eventually build.

I’m originally from Clearwater, Florida and moved to Nashville 4 years ago to go to college and pursue my music career. I started my adult life up there and recently moved back to Florida and accepted a job closer to family. But I totally relate to everything you guys were saying about the how different the feeling is in each city. Nashville is seriously such an incredible city - so many young families but also so much work ethic and creative passion… and dogs 😂 Milo will fit right in. And something about Florida is just so different. It’s so refreshing and inspiring to watch you guys as a young couple seriously discern the Lord’s will on your life and share about it. Thank you for contributing this unapologetically to the creative community. I’m so happy that the Lord is directing your path, and know He has so much in store for you!!
“Everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more, and will inherit eternal life.” (Matthew 19:29)
Although the Lord doesn’t have me in Nashville for this season, I can totally see myself moving back to raise a family for all of the reasons you described. And I just wanted to say, even though I’m not a current Nashvillian, with all Nashville hospitality and love - welcome to town - welcome home.

I have to say this was so refreshing to hear as someone who grew up with a similar background I always feel this sense and f “needing permission” and I want Gods direction in my life but sometimes I feel like it’s hard to know exactly where I’m suppose to be or where to go definitely feeling like I want to thrive and please pray for me that God shows me how to do so and opens the door for so many things I’ve been waiting for 💛

God (or universe whatever you choose to believe) is 100% with you every step of the way in your lives and was/is basically screaming all the signs needed to help you make this choice. As you kept telling the build up + the signs behind your decision to move to Nashville my jaw just kept dropping especially the voice message part / verse and what the realtor said!! Shook! My husband and I left all of our family in Florida to move to Knoxville, TN. We have almost the EXACT story as both of you, but WOW has this move been amazing for us! I am 6 months pregnant now with a baby girl and, since we’ve moved here, my husband got baptized, we found a wonderful church that we now BOTH work for, and we feel a peace that we’ve never felt before.
Just because your family lives somewhere, does not mean that’s the same place God is calling you. I hope one day God makes our paths cross so that we can share stories and introduce our daughters. Wishing you both the best🤍

Wow, this is amazing💗 Thank you for sharing your story. I can relate and totally understand the feeling of being “stagnant” in your growth around family. I have experienced the exact same thing and it’s easy to feel guilty for being away from family, but the Lord wants us to thrive and be our best selves and continue to grow (emotionally, spiritually, in our careers, etc). I am so so proud of you guys and love how prayerful and intentional you were about every decision. I can see God’s hand all over the story and it is truly inspiring 💗🥰 so happy for you two! I pray for a healthy labor for Jess and baby 💕

What I planned: lemme catch up with the vids I haven't watched in the last few months
What I got: Sort of therapy.
But srsly, I'm getting CHILLS because this past few days I have been experiencing what Gabe talked about like that feeling of "leaving your home land for years and then going back to it and then feeling like yourself is expected to reset to the person who you were before you left" and currently thinking and praying for the thoughts of "what if I move somewhere?" but no idea how to pull that off in my current state. Thank you for sharing this!

This story is so beautiful! Even if you had a hard time it’s sometimes necessary to know what we truly want in life or what would fulfill us.
Your story of struggling (with the place of living and also with the family having them near or not) is something I totally understand at the moment! I am also thinking about what’s the best for me and if I would be “bad person” if I want to live far away from family and friends.
I was getting so emotional while listening to your story and it was really the perfect time to listen to it in that period of my life right now ❤️
Thank you so much for being honest with us and also showing us that no one’s life is perfect even if it sometimes seems like this on the internet! I wish you the best and a happy new Start in Nashville and that your dreams come true 🍀❤️

I truly believe God is intertwined in every detail of your lives. As I finished watching your video I opened my Bible and this came- you mentioned thrive many times. I believe it’s truly Him “For I will pour out water to quench your thirst and to irrigate your parched fields. And I will pour out my Spirit on your descendants, and my blessing on your children. They will thrive like watered grass, like willows on a riverbank.”

The whole time I was listening to you guys talk I kept thinking "how cool that Gabe and Jess LOOK for God in all they do!!" I used to think that God just showed up in situations every now and again and my job was just to wait, but not too long ago my perspective totally changed. We moved away from family, but love being here. Just keep praying and seeking the Lord, He is in control. God bless! 🙏

I'm only at the 5 minute mark and I'm starting to relate a lot to what Gabe was saying about feeling stagnant. I lived away from my family while I was in University until my first job, and that was around 5-6 years. When I quit my job and decided to study more, I moved back home. I was 26. Even the age is quite similar to his story haha. Almost 2 years later, I'm finishing up my graduate studies but I'm also feeling stuck. Like being at home makes me regress to a child who depends on their parents a lot. So the past year I feel like I haven't been progressing in life that much. And this is quite difficult for me because I wish to be closer to home while I still can, since I see myself moving to another country in the future, but also realizing that home isn't the best place for me to grow presently. This is something I've been having a hard time accepting lately. That maybe being away from home is what I need.

i was having such anxiety then this video showed up in my homepage, which i know wasn't a coincidence because this video was posted june 11th and it is now june 20th.
i've followed jess and gabe since they were just in a relationship so that's probably 6 years ago.
i was dealing with a very bad depression and anxiety for a whole month,
and i kept doubting everything that's happening in my life, like if i'm in the right path or the right place or not.
but seeing this video made my faith grew so much because i believe that God will make everything beautiful in His time and everything will fall into place eventually.
    thank you jess and gabe

Wow just wow. This is beautiful! I think it’s important to highlight back to you guys from an outside view and from another believer that you gave this doubt/life decision over to God and you asked constantly for him to give you both clarification and signs, and this is exactly what He did. From then I’m also going to say that you both obeyed and listened with open ears, soul and mind which is beautiful to witness. I’m so happy and proud for both of you not in a condescending way but in a way that the Lord is so present in your lives and you are not only using your lives to give glory to Him but also your platform to document your testimony. I am emotional at this video and you both touched on so many areas of life with so much grace, truth and conviction. Thank you for always being my sister and brother in Christ, you both motivate me so much more than you know. Praying for you both always, God be with you both now and always☀️🧡

At the 12:06 mark, I went through the same thing 6 years ago... I was born and raised in Texas, but my first marriage took me all over the world (he was military)... when we eventually separated 12 years later, I went back home to Texas to gather the tatters of my life back up and mend it all. I felt like it was the most natural place to do it: the place I'd been born and raised. At first, things were fine... but like Gabe mentioned earlier in the video, if you leave your hometown, do some living and changing, then go back? It's a shocker. My friends that had never left had never changed... never evolved into anything but what they were in the late 90s. And there was NOTHING wrong with that, but *I* had changed immensely. I knew very shortly after arriving that I would take my time deciding what was next for me, but I didn't have to be THERE... I never spoke that out loud to my mother, because I didn't want to devastate her... I was always worried about other people's well-being. Then I met my current husband who lived in California... the plan was always that he would move to me, but when he did, he was unable to find a job. For two years, we struggled hardcore... until I finally put my foot down and said I'd move to California in a heartbeat if he could get his old job back. So he did... and we did. It was the best thing I had ever done for myself and my kids.
All of this rambling to say: be glad you're discovering this stuff in your 20s... I was in my mid-to-late 30's when these realities finally hit me. You guys are smart and resilient. Keep being awesome.

I also noticed Mark 2:21 which says "No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse." Sometimes going back to your hometown just won't fit right, and we know that it's okay to feel like that. This move would've felt like the most rash decision, especially moving so quick and away from family, but i'm sure God has plans to prosper you and for His will to be done through you guys. God bless.
