Oh my god . What a coincidence . I just did my first ukrainian test in Duolingo and i know only russian ( learning for 1 year ) . I was surprised to get 200 points . The point is even with 65 percent lexical similarity the similarity is so magical . The languages are a mute witness to all of the happenings and i have people both in polyglot group and also few ukrainians negating russian language influence but certain things go beyond voyna :( I am sure everything will emerge stronger . Russian language is my favorite among 9 languages i know and even if the world ends and only i remain it will be my life , It wont end i am sure :) Cheers to the video , cheers to peace ,cheers to the future , cheers to my favorite language russian .
I thought they were closer than that, a little bit like Spanish and Portuguese (a 89% lexical coincidence and a grammar overlapped in most of the cases) thank you for the video it was really useful.
I don't find polish similar to ukrainian at all. That 70% of shared vocabulary is definitely wrong. There is no way we can understand each other even at the very basic level. Just a few words, nothing more. For me its much easier to understand russian than ukrainian. Btw, you are a lovely person and I love russian language. Keep up the great work you are doing and stay awesome :)
Thank you for a very informative video. I am trying to write my comment while distracting commercials are going on. My tablet wont let me stop them. But anyways, this answers a lot of questions AND causes more for me. I wonder if school children learn both languages in school. I had to read along for the first listening. Now I will fold laundry and listen without the subtitles! Thank you.
Great information in the video comparing the two languages. Your assessment aligns with the experiences when I traveled to Odessa and Nikolaev. Having this video completely in Russian helped my listening skills as well!
Thanks Anna for the wonderful video! Very informative and detailed as always! I still remember being stuck in the Lviv train station last May because no one knew English, but luckily I knew enough russian to get the tickets I needed back to Kyiv! In Lviv though yes much harder than Kyiv to find russian speakers! Слава Богу, у меня была замечательная русская учительница!
I lived in Kiev from 1964 to 1970.Russian was predominant and we foreigners picked up some Ukrainian.I never once heard people talk against eachother. As a matter of fact I knew so many Russians and Ukrainians xmarried.I really feel very very sad at the state of affairs the country has fallen...I can only pray for their well being.I have a soft corner for both of them.

Hi.Anna Although Russian communist attacked My country afghanistan . Still I like russian people and I like russian language that was not Russians Fault that was the politicians fault Russian people so kind polite and civilized people thank please keep teaching us russian language thank you Agromne agromne spasiba
Thank u so much ❤️ Ms Anna cher for your Information about Russian 🇷🇺 and Ukraine 🇺🇦 Spaseeba! Grettings from the Philippines 🇵🇭 sir Vhin ☺️🙏😍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
Next time I hear an argument that Russians and Ukrainians are the same, I'll redirect them here. Many people here in Romania call "Russians" all the peoples that came out of the former Soviet Union. 🤷♂️
Many txs for this neutral information!

Thank you for watching, Sue. I know that Russian used to be a subject taught at school but I am not sure if it is still so.

Thank you, I am very happy to hear that the video was helpful!
Anna you should also add little difficult words in your videos so that it can be more beneficial for us , because most of native Russians do this.
Thank you, I will keep that it mind 🙏🏻 For now, please, use the Russian and English subtitles provided!
Very helpfull vedio

I think that the distinguishes between a dialect and a separate language is not totally agreed upon, and that it’s mainly depends on politics.
In this case there is absolutely no doubt that they are different languages.

I am also praying for it to stop soon. My grandmother is Ukrainian, so I can relate.
If not for Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs there would be no war.

I am not sure if this was the intention of Anna... but this video serves as more proof that Russia has no claim to Ukraine.
Next time I hear an argument that Russians and Ukrainians are the same, I'll redirect them here.
Many people here in Romania call "Russians" all the peoples that came out of the former Soviet Union. 🤷♂️
It's a common thing in the US as well!
