I saw this telecast live, and it's how I discovered Sergey Khachatryan. I hope many other people will now do the same here. What a stunning, soulful, completely committed performer. I love how he plays. His solo album of Bach is terrific. Thank you for posting this.
Awesome, his playing is so hot, passionate, sincere... That's what distinguishes young soloist like Sergey from recognized masters, the elder ones - he's not bored yet. In a glow of youth he plays as if he would die right after this performance - so now, all or nothing ... I'm definitely a big fan of him.
PLEASE. His faces make me sick, he has a miserable sound- his playing is for rich lonely housewives- playing melodramatic soap operas- ANYTHING he plays with his dumb mimics. Listen to this same concerto played by Heifetz when he was 17. Or to Vengerov.
Steven Battleheart have you not noticed Vengerov's faces? Sound - miserable is a bit too harsh, his violin is obviously a very bright one and with his vibrato it makes the sound a bit thinner, but not MISERABLE. I think you are down playing the guy a bit, and no need to compare anyone with Heifetz
Steven Battleheart Dear Steven, I adore Vengerov, I worship Heifetz and recently I've heard Kavakos play this concerto (here in St Petersburg) - they all are splendid! But still, I think that among younger artists Sergey is the best. That's my opinion as a violinist, as a musician and, lastly, as a person. Moreover, one week ago I went to Mariinsky theater, there was Brahms double concerto (Khachatryan&Hakhnazaryan) that made me absolutely positive in my point of view. Mimics? That's his characteristic feature, which many musicians have (btw, me too). I never considered it as a problem or something, I don't care. And believe me, neither does he. Best wishes
What a stupendous interpretation! It is as if it is out of this world. He fully understands the nature of this difficult concerto. Lyrical and retrained yet can be fiery at the very dramatic part of this work. Few can achieve this well.
Saw him live via the internet play Sibelius yesterday with Sokhiev conducting. Very lovely, tender, romantic. Very unusual and as you say very committed - not by technique, but by heart. I think he had his eyes closed for most of the performance. Instantly "fell in love" with his playing, despite never having heared of him before. Hope he gets an invitation by an orchestra near me soon.
I agree, I "fell in love" the first time I saw him. I love his recording of the Sibelius. I didn't know the piece until I bought his recording soon after I first encountered him. Thank you for your response.
I hope there is a way ...in this age of technology...to remedy the problems in this video...the performer and Brahms are certainly worthy... Thank you for the upload...✨
Sonoridade suntuosa [ so vi semelhante no Christian Ferras] e entonaçao perfeita. Lindo Brahms. Bravo Sergey!!!
I don't enjoy the Violin tunes Because of my tinnitus But Sergey's play treated it for a while... His wonderful strings Takes you to a new place Somewhere you have never been... With soulful love For tunes of the violin...! Sylva Potyoian, M.D March 8, 2014 Written Instantly
I really liked the initial "concert for cough and orchestra", which included the participation of the Toulouse Choir of Consumptives infiltrated among the public...
Decidido : ¡me gusta! ¡Si!
Awful quality on the video, but the violinist is fantastic. I was so lucky as to hear him in the Oslo Concert Hall April 26. 2018, performing the Sibelius Violin Concerto. Awesome performance by Sergey Khachatryan!
His playing is world class, and the orchestra cannot match his expression or phrasing in any of the tutti sections in the first movement after his solo. This is so sad, but still, wonderful playing by the soloist.
How can anyone vote up this video? There's a sound break every minute, it's a horrible recording. I'd love to listen to this interpretation, but please upload a correct recording.
Wonderful performance, but the video is a mess, and it's way "over-miked". One should not hear every single squeak of the chairs, every single clearing f a throat. That being said, Khachatryan is on par with Szeryng at his peak.
Some parts of Sergey's playing and the quality of the sound he is drawing are raw in this performance, may be he needs to practice more? I wish he had the emotions on his face passed on to the violin. So far it is passed on to the audience only. Not the best performance I have heard.

My god, the beauty, gracefulness and power of his sound!
And how he just sweeps you along…
A god with a violin 💛
So very beautifully played. I am speechless. Thank you. 🎻🎶🌷🌷🌷 (Holland 2024)

Steven Battleheart Heard him play Sibelius in Armenia years ago, and it was one of the best live performances I have heard so far.
Henrik Karapetyan
I've heard it too... Very boring, overemotional, and terrible mimics.

Just now listened to him playing this piece in Budapest, Palace of Arts.
His presence and emotional involvement are peerless. He made me cry.
Amazing performance by Sergey, stunning.. And one of my favourite Conductors Sokhiev, a brilliant man
Very annoying video...

My sentiments exactly. I saw him perform Sibelius Violin Concerto in Oslo just a few days ago. Awesome!
thanks on the orchestra and conductor too. Right tempi and such a wonderful feeling and harmonic with the solist. My respect!!
So great. I can hear the influance of J.Rissin, but you're an outstanding violinist. Bravo, I am very exciting about the future will bring.
SERGEY! BRAVO!!! BRAVISSIMOOOOOO!!!!!!! 💋🇦🇲🤗🥰😘😍🇦🇲💋🌞🙏🏻YOU TOUCH PEOPLES’ HEARTS...

Gracias.

In my channel you can find his encore of Sibelius's concert you mentioned :) Soon I'll upload the whole concert with the interview

Which is the encore? Title, composer....
The picture is out of sync with the sound and the constant loss of sound makes this unbearable to watch
His playing is world class, and the orchestra cannot match his expression or phrasing in any of the tutti sections in the first movement after his solo. This is so sad, but still, wonderful playing by the soloist.
Bravo.

Ok, I stuck around for ten minutes because I thought the video and sound would get better but it only got worse....
oboe is not tuned
This is a pretty bad recording from a Mezzo program. It does not reflect on the quality of the virtuoso that is Sergey Khachatryan, Sorry!
Wonderful performance, but the video is a mess, and it's way "over-miked". One should not hear every single squeak of the chairs, every single clearing f a throat. That being said, Khachatryan is on par with Szeryng at his peak.

Horrible quality. This should be removed.
Out of tune oboe
