- Sergey Khachatryan plays Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra (27.09.2013). Conductor Tugan Sokhiev.
An interview with Sergey Khachatryan before the concert.
Wow, what a player. Can't wait for the Khachaturian concerto. Such feeling and musicianship that is lacking in most young players today. I can just feel every note, amazing.
One of my favorite people on this planet. You can really feel everything he gives on stage.
Mistakes? If yes, so what? It's not about acrobacy, it's about music. Perfection is just boring and not interesting. And Sergey is one of the greatest and finest musicians of today. What a sensitive and above all natural play! For me this is the best Sibelius concerto since Christian Ferras.
+Erik Vertriest I agree with your comment!
+Erik Vertriest My personal favourite is the Daivid Oistrakh Concert with Ormandy and the Philadelphia Philharmonic 1954. Nonetheless, I like this version! Also helps that it's live! :)
Erik Vertriest We have only one recording of this concerto without any mistake that's the Heifetz' who actually recorded this concerto for the very first time in 1935. Anybody else has some mistakes performing this.
Incredibly musical and exciting. Bravo!
What a performance... Sergey is an inspiration to all of us!
I can hear his own personality in his music :) I like him.
Bravo, Sergey!!!very interesting, touching interpretation!!!
Fascinating! full of emotions.
This is All about Music.. An MOST Interpretation and performance !!! A credit also to Maestro Tugan Sokhiev who supported with beauty Sergey

Yes he has the violin under his full control, he is the master of masters . I love him
BRAVO Sergey gan!!!!
Great musicien, bravo
almost perfect. great performance.
Hu Maria ALMOST!! HAHA

Wow! Incredible!
Maravilloso!! ¡¡MUCHAS GRACIAS!!
soo schön..
Perfect!
Thanks a lot for sharing, Astgh Aslibekyan!
Perfect.
I think he has incredibly strong color. This isn't common thing. You guys should feel this colorful interesting music. If he played very clearly and didn't have any mistake, it would be like a robot's performance.
Yıllarca unutulmayacak bir Sibelius yorumu
БРАВИССИМО!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He almost reaches my illusion of Sibelius
I like how he holds the violin
Magnífico
,Mágico, Sergey, parece que tocara sobre cuerdas de aire. Bellísimo.
¡BRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
EXELENTE!!!
perfecto!
He and kavakos and maybe Hillary Hahn are the only ones who played the low octaves from 24:00-24:44 incredible!! I saw him live this year in Norway for a Janine Janson replacement and I gotta tell you, he might have been better
What do you mean lower octaves? Which passages?
Բրավոոոոոո, կեցցես: Bravooooo

III. Allegro ma non tanto 35:18
thanks to Astgh Asilbekyan
there is no video of 2000 Khachatryan in Sibelius Violin Competition. there was no camera that time?
closing part is one of the most important parts of Sibelius violin concerto, unfortunately he did not execute it smoothly,,
Begins @ 8:19
12:35-12:50 reminder
Meines Erachtens bringt man einem Künstler dann die richtige Achtung entgegen, wenn er sich mittels Dolmetscher in seiner eigenen Sprache (Armenisch) ausdrücken kann. Oder?!
25:17 ??
LMAOOO...Damm fingered octaves ...gets the best of us.
Too many mistakes in too many crucial parts.. so like okay it's one thing to say he was still musically this or that blah blah... But He is missing intonation to the point where it is just a wrong note or can not keep the beat at the end of the 3rd movement for ex.
He should use diff fingerings for some parts for some really do not do him justice amen nice bro
mistakes
mistakes but breathtaking music
Schaukel Z lol if the only thing you see are mistakes you have no business trying to take in any art form. Why don't you go watch a video on accounting? I think that's more you're style.
a lot of mistakes... sorry
You have no reason to apologise. Apologies mean that your opinion has weight and credibility. It doesn't.
Thomas is right. This performance is incredibly sloppy. And I know the score quite well. Particularly at the end, it just falls apart.
perhaps the performance was technically off. i heard him play the sibelius live with the new york philharmonic and it was impeccable, not to mention poetic and thrilling.
can you do better?
