((( WARNING - SCAM ALERT ))) Please DO NOT reply to the comments that say " Thanks for Commenting " "You Won a Prize" That is NOT coming from me, I repeat THAT IS NOT COMING FROM ME! Michael~
I got a message that I won a fender telecaster. Is this you or a scam?
@@Rickenbacker954 That would be a Scam.
The reason they don’t drill the holes for the pickguard is to allow you to center it once the guitar is all put together. E.G., line up the pickups to the strings, center it on the bridge, etc.
It should be a last step.
That's good to know. I wasn't sure, thanks for the info. I appreciate it. M~
I loved everything about it except for the distressing of that beautiful paint job. Nice work and it proves that good quality doesn't necessarily mean high cost.
Thanks Bill. M~
I never understood why people do that distressing thing it's disturbing
@@Mauitaoist it makes the guitar feel different. it makes it feel worn in like it's been played for a while and that's a feel that some people (including myself) enjoy
@@Mauitaoist I agree, when the relicing is over the top. Not the case here. Just enough to give it an authentic worn look. It's like a comfortable, old shoe. It stinks! J/K 😆
there is nothing a wife likes more than a brand new iron and ironing board. top tip for you right there.
Thanks Rob. That's a good tip. lol M~
That beats the time I bought a battery charger for my wife's birthday for her 20 year old car. (Maybe should have bought a battery instead, because she did not seem very impressed). Hope you wife likes this one, but as long as you like it you'll be fine.
Thanks James, The wife loves the guitar, almost as much as me lol
You do nice work❤😅
Buddy it's bout 2 in the morning here... In Florida...watching this video made my day... I have bunches of guitars... My wife hates them. You can make them and I admire that so much. My skill is limited to trying to play. I am a slacker. I only wish I could fix what I seem to break often. North Florida boy trying.
Thank you, Adam. M~
I use the Harbor Freight orbital buffer for my polishing. Works awesome!
Thanks for Nothing lol I will have to check those out. M~
So do I.
I've been wanting to do a "cheap kit" build for a while now and after seeing your video I think I'll get on it.
Thanks Free. and because their CHEAP. you can't really mess them up LOL
If you don't want to get overspray on your camera, wrap it with cling film (I think you guys call it saran wrap) and stretch it tight over the lens. You can still operate all the buttons and stretched tight it won't affect the optics. I do this with my action camera on my RC models to keep them temporarily waterproof.
Hey Tony, Thanks for the tip. I'll have to give that a try. M~
@@SouthernFireGuitars 👍
Tip:- If spraying paint outside put plenty of water down to keep the dust down on the ground and not in your paint finish!
Thanks Andrew. Good tip. M~
Great job. One thing I learned from past experience with rattle can paint jobs... after 6 months to a year you might get that orange peel affect after the gases all dissipate from the paint. No worries... just wet-sand the clear coat (I did 600-2000) and then hit it with the buffing compound again. Comes out perfect. Again, great job!! Keep up the great content. Thank you for your "educational" and and highly entertaining content.
Thanks Solo. Good tip. M~
This is the whole reason of kit guitars ! Awesome why I want some kits bc it can be anything YOU want . To heck what anyone else thinks 👍🏼
Thank you, Ron. I agree with you. Make it YOUR OWN. 😎🎸
Great job! This video is making me want to try building a kit too!

Good stuff Michael, you've inspired me to build a couple of kits as well as my 4 CBG's. That Strat looks and sounds excellent!
Thank you Johnny. That's awesome. Its nice to inspire. These kits are fun. :)
Wow, Sounds awesome! Looks great as well.

Great job Mike I'm impressed I remember once Fred Flintstone bought his wife a bowling ball for her birthday and his friend Barney said well what's she going to do with the bowling ball Fred? And Fred said well, she can loan it to me....
Thanks Cory, That's kind of the same thing lol

Thanks Michael. Will do. All my exes live in Texas lol
As always Michael awesome job , love that sound, I've been thinking about building one of these kits watching the last video.
Thank you, Larry. It did have a Strat style sound to it, I like that too. You should build one, their fun. :)

Great vid; I'm doing a full upgrade on a Glarry T-type this weekend; I am going to do a kit next, and then a barncaster. Very informative! Keep the faith.
Thanks Info. Good luck on the upgrade. Kits are fun. M~
Love it, inspiring , now where's that kit i got for my birthday years ago ..................👍

Nice build, hope she likes it too!😊

nice work ! the guitar looks beautiful and sound good!
Thanks Leurne. M~
I use that very same dupla color acrylic metal flake blue on my guitar body a couple years ago. It took all summer to set up. I did the paint job in layers and sanded after each layer dried:-)
Thanks Nothing. Its a real nice color, I bet that came out nice. M~
Ha that's classic. My wife would kill me if I did that LOL Looks great and sounds great!
Thanks Scott. My wife loved it. I told her I'd hold on to it and break it in so its ready to play when she's ready 😉
Great Video Michael. Thanks!
Thanks Dave. M~ 😎
Good job, i like the way you did that.
Thank you, Jane. M~
How'd the wife like her gift? Lol loved the finishing process,,,,,until the faux distress look. Was looking forward to the smooth, shiny, new finish ,,even with the non fender blue.
Thank you Mtnman. Its not finished yet, I have some more distressing to do on it. Anybody can do a nice shiny finish, LOL this was more of a challenge, and creative, oh yeah.. and fun lol M~
Great job Michael. She will dig that Strat
Thanks Dennis. She does. :)
That is an excellent video, luvved it..... Oh and the guitar and build , what can one say..... BRILLIANT.
from the Cockney Cruiser, Northamprtonshire, England😃👍
Thanks Tony. M~
Nice video sir! The guitar looks great!
Thank you, Nate. 😎
I like the way it came out! I urge to try and pull the 12, 17 coats I try to remember factories paint someday, and I propably would've tried making more coats and a even surface. I like the barbwire -logo in the headstock, and the results is just as good as I expected such a kit guitar could ever turn into! Thumbs up for it!

Nice playing and great build, love the blue, greetings from Northern Ireland brother 🤘🤘🇬🇧
Thanks Nonrev. Yeah, that blue came out nice. Ive shipped a few CBG's to Northern Ireland, good people. M~
@@SouthernFireGuitars oh cool, great to know, yeah we have a lot of old ancestry in the USA
Really enjoyed the vid, thank you. And a good end result indeed. And to share; I bought a cheap China copy Strat but found the body to be a bit....square, so I took my orbital sander and softened the profile. I thinned the top edges, and - where the elbow slope is - contoured that more into the main body of the guitar. I made small adjustments all round but the end result was a very 'sensual' feeling guitar without losing the Strat character. And it was my Strat, quite unlike anyone else's Strat. If you do another kit build, try reshaping the body before the paint job. Just a suggestion to increase the fun! Thanks again for the vid, nice one.
Thank you, raslo. That sounds pretty cool, and will keep that in mind. M~
I remember that i bought a used semi functional Peavey sc1 cherry sunburst guitar from a Florida seller for her son on eBay and I have a new set of Epiphone classic so the idian studio series guitars complete set of the switch, honey pots variable knobs and the clip attachments wiring harness that comes with it i believe it also came from eBay $65 it would be a fairly easy way to fix the Peavey sc1 guitar but I want it to have the tap adjustment brigde pickup function as the 59-62 les Paul guitar did so im going to have a buddy of mine replace the pots with cts potentiometers, and the Epiphone pickups but they are ceramic so I bought a classic 59 set of them from music Lily i was referred to them by the sweetwater music store...
I guess I should start to share my work too. Your stuff is always great. I'm wise enough now to see and do just about anything cause of people like you. Bless you man. I'm afraid if I advertise, I may be working all the time. Lol

Hi...Michael...Awesome....sound good too. You inspired me. Thanks so much...
Your welcome, Charles. Thank you. It's nice to inspire. M~
Nice job! I've thought many times about building a kit guitar, but so far it hasn't happened. My main problem is not having access to a proper work area and suitable tools. I must say I'm a bit envious of your outdoor setup. Seems like a very nice way to spend a couple of days with an inspiring project, and it makes spray painting both easy and safe. I tried sanding away a really thick coat of lacquer from a cheap strat copy some time ago, but soon found out that my small kitchen wasn't a very suitable area for that. I initially didn't wear a face mask either, which was just all kinds of stupid. Well... live and learn... 😄
Thanks Mats. Yes, it is nice having room outside for building and stuff. With a lacquer finish, you can just scuff it up with some fine sand paper and just add a coat of primer right over the top, then paint it. Sanding off that old lacquer is a real pain. :)
I can build it for you down here I'm west of Daytona Beach Florida
I build them on my dining table and sand and paint in the backyard.
Nice work
Thanks Paul. M~
Nice job.
Thanks Larry. 😎
I have Three knockoff Stratocaster st guitars myself,a donner kit, a lake placid blue i don't remember the brand of that one and a costzon Amazon no name tobacco sunburst $67 guitar kit i bought, the donner is called antique white but it is a pale yellow... like jim Morrison i believe it was had but no scallop neck

Cool. I didn't know guitar kits like this existed and I also didn't know you could use automotive paint. Good to know.

Your Florida weather sounds just like Queensland, Australia weather.
Thanks GK. Now we're waiting for hurricane Ian to stop by. 😬
Love your videos! I've noticed that all of them seem to be in 480p resolution and it sure would be nice to see some of these guitar builds in a higher resolution so we can get a better idea of how the finishes look, etc. Any chance of you planning to upgrade the camera system? I'm not sure what you're using, but perhaps you just don't have it set to record at a higher resolution and it's already capable.
Thanks Joe. I'm using a new Sony A6400, and the setting were all out of wack. I have since set it up correctly. M~

Just subscribed after you popped up in my feed, great work and as a Brit, loving the dry humor (spelled that for you 😉)! Tbh I think you made a good job of the painting and I'm not sure about the faux relicing undoing your good work 🤘
Thanks Barry for the sub. I'm still working on this blue Strat kit, to give it a nicer aged look. Believe it or not it takes a bit of skill to make a distressed guitar look good as it is to make it look purdy. 😀
@Barry Haha, I'm with you there. I can't stand the trend toward paying more for guitars that are artificially aged. I understand that it takes skill to make it believable looking and that people like Tom (I think it's Tom, anyway) Murphy @ Gibson's "Murphy Labs" are artists in their own right, but the only way I see it as even a semi-legitimate undertaking is when they're making a copy of a particular artists "famous" guitar. Of course the legitimacy goes away for me when I look at the price tags that Gibson slaps on those guitars, but I guess if people are willing to pay $50,000 for a guitar like the "Green, Moore, Hammett" Les Paul where the limited edition of 50 sold out within hours I believe, it's not Gibson that I'm shaking my head about. P.T. Barnum was absolutely right. What's wrong with a pristine, new looking guitar? Hang onto it for a few years and play it and it'll end up looking distressed whether you really want it to or not. Sorry for rambling, you've just hit on a pet peeve of mine and I just don't think I will ever understand the trend toward paying more for what would have been a factory second back in the day. Now get off my lawn you damn kids! 😆
