I use mine as a dash cam on my motorcycle, mounted on my handlebar. It is an 'Andoer 4K'. It is not in the same league with the 5 above, but does the job in case of accident, or something....
I make a lot of YouYube videos and use the $10 SQ19 for recording me guitar, as the sound recording is great, but the video not so much. The Elephone Elite for metal detecting , and the Canon elph 310 for everything else. Only Canon gives realistic video , as all other action cameras I have tried look like animated impressionist paintings. Thank you for all the great revues.
for less budget, there's Lead Edge LE7000. with sd card, stick, head harness, etc accessories it's €61. with fewer accessories, it's like €48. if you want the extra accessories €61 is not bad for a price. it also has EIS and 20mp camera. as for quality, it has better colors than the Eken H9R-non plus(it's oversaturated) and it's brighter so it will get better footage at night.
Hey, this is just a idea that could be pretty fun to watch and helpful, since you said there was cameras that where so bad they didn't make it into videos, why not make a video of action cameras to avoid? Any how great video!
I think you missed pointing out some key factors for the Akaso. They're not waterproof unless they are in the waterproof case. BUT when in the waterproof case it doesn't record audio unless your within inches of the camera and you can't connect an external mic with the waterproof case on. Also horrible customer service! Their customer service WILL NOT answer the phone or return any of your phone calls. They only respond to email between the hours of 9 pm and 3 am central standard time. Because of this I don't look for them to be on Amazon much longer.
Thank you for another great video. I have been following all your videos on action cameras over the past 6 months. I decided to spend the extra $90 and instead of getting the Yi 4k+, I just ordered the GoPro Hero 7+. I know that many of your readers have different needs and budgets, but this solves many of the weakness of your reviewed cameras. I will not need a waterproof case with the GPH7blk, so I will have a functioning internal microphone as well as the option of an external mic. I can then also use a touch screen for easy interaction. It has EIS up to 4K-60fps. The FOV is adjustable, and the use in dark environments is descent. I do understand that no action camera excels in dark areas. Thank you for the great reviews and comparisons; you might want to add the GoPro Hero 7 black to the review list.
Great video, thanks! I'm interested in being able to charge while recording. Do you have a list of the best real 4k action cameras that will record while plugged into an external power bank?
Thx Alex, I've been looking, comparing and doubting for almost 2 months buying a replacement for my SJCAM400, your review made it a lot easier for me to choose. I go for the Akaso.
We use the SJCAM 4000 (Authentic is very important) for all our RUclips channels. They cost around $80. They dont do 4K, but love these little cameras. For example every bench shot on my channel is with these cameras.
What is the best budget action camera that still has good sound in the waterproof case? Are there any, or do I need to go with a more expensive Garmin or go pro?
We are looking for an affordable camera we can take snorkeling and kayaking. We want to take videos, but still shots are more important for us. Also we would use them mostly in day time. Do you recommend any of these cameras?
Thanks for the insight. Another Chinese one you might want to review - or maybe you already have - is the Dragon Touch Vision 3. I only mention it because it's probably the cheapest of them all and for vloggers who don't need 4k quality, the camera does fine. The problem with that camera is that it's not wired for sound for motovloggers, so wind noise will be a big problem. 2 cameras I want to know more about are the Akaso V50 Pro and Dragon Touch Vision 4 for motovlogging. I don't know if a mic in their audio port's is sufficient at speed. I'm guessing not, because it's not sufficient for GoPro's. I'm still researching, but for motovlogging, it sounds like Yi4k and GoPro are the best options. I have a soundless video on my channel that was shot with the Dragon Touch Vision 3, so anyone interested in saving a dime can check that video. I should probably put the camera in that description. I haven't yet. Anyway, thanks for the insight. I'm new to motovlogging and really new to motorcycle riding. I'll subscribe b/c your channel seems informational. Eventually mine will be better. Right now it's nothing. I just started it like a week ago or so.
I was considering the dragon touch v3 or v4 - watched a bunch of video reviews and frankly the video quality was really bad, also lots of ppl had problems with files - uploading and playback...I would avoid them.
I would have to say the only negative I have found after playing for a few hours is there does not appear to be a way to "pause" recording then start it again. No end of world and at 120 bux I can live with that, the rest of the features work amazingly well for something so tiny : )
@@RedskullPro www.goprawn.com/forum/ambarella-cams/11380-firefly-8se-modx-custom-firmware Someone on GearBest was pointing out to it in the comments so I gave it a try.
Hi Alex, I really like your action cam reviews but I am struggling to narrow down the cameras I might buy because I have one specific requirement which is not often covered well in the manufacturer's data. I want to mount the camera under a microlight and switch it on and off while flying it. It is important to realise I can't see the camera or press any buttons unless I land the plane. I have seen people in this situation leave out the battery and power the camera by USB, when they apply power it starts recording and when they cut power it stops. This is basically dash-cam function except some cameras which claim dashcam ability still require you to press a button on the camera after turning on your ignition. No good in my case. Also I think all cameras will not close a file in a readable form if you just cut the power, so I am assuming people who get this working have a camera which records the video as a sequence of small (like 1 minute) files. Do you think that is right? If so and anyway could you give me a list of cameras which would be suitable? You might say why not use wifi, well every one I have tried (not many) lose contact after a short while and require you to push buttons on the camera to re-establish contact. Even the little remote controllers some have are a bit of a problem since the same button is used to record and stop recording. SO you have to memorise what the last button press did. A wire and an on/off switch is really preferable. Other features I'd like are image stabilisation, cost about $100, good quality images but I don't need 4k. Sound not an issue. Sorry to ask you this long question.
@@celinelee6935 V50 Elite, great video, audio is pretty decent for an action camera. Only thing that ticks me off a bit is the video playback options on the camera [fastforward, rewind, etc] But then again, its only a small screen anyway, by no means a deal breaker, in my eyes. :]

Hi guys i bought my Yi Lite about 4 months ago and recently my touchscreen stopped responding it still records perfectly at 1080p but i can not access the menu on the screen or wifi. I used a method that I seen on YItech website when your camera crashes to take off battery an put it back in with sufficient battery life. The camera did froze a few times right before the screen when out. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone.
... I finally gave an order for Akaso V50Pro based on your review. Can you mention the linear mode(like in GoPro), as sometimes we dont like the fisheye results. Also when you conclude can you show some table with features on one side and cameras on top for quick comparison.
The Yi +seemed to have done the best in low light also you don’t talk about max field of view with all cameras and that OSAKO camera I’ve heard freezes a lot when you start it and images are just ok but not great.
Hey everyone. I'm looking to buy my first video camera. My purpose is to film footwork drills and football workouts as well as routing running. My price range is $300 or less, any suggestions?
Charlie Simmons I’m not a master of these cameras. However, 300 dollars is more than enough to buy a good camera like gopro. If I were you I would stick with the gopro hero 7 which is $200 dollars and have 4k resolution
Hi, Great Review. I've a question for you, if possible. I'd like to use action cam on MTB, in hard conditions as rough terrain, gravel, rocks (mounting it on chest mount or handlebar mount) and what cheap camera you advice me to buy for best stabilization? I'm looking for SJ8PRO what's better for you? ThankYou
What will be the best action cam to record video on little League baseball games. I post them on my RUclips channel and I want to try to get the best quality but not brake the bank for one. Right now I use a body security cam that has a wide view where you can see the whole field. Take a look on my channel to see the quality I use now. I'm trying to make it look better. Thanks for your help.
If it’s in your budget the Yi 4K+ will give you the best video quality. I’ve done a review on it and a vlog filmed entirely with it if you want to see more sample footage.
Great review, un biased and thorough, kudos. As well I was surfing Amazon and got bowled over by the shear amount of choices, the ones that had floated to the top of my list you reviewed 3 of. V50 it is : )
After i turnoff the camera, and when i start it back up, the new recording starts overriding the old files. Any solution to this? I am using generic NEEWER brand. the LOOP video setting is OFF.
I haven't got to personally try it, therefore I couldn't include it. But if it records in real 4K and it has EIS for 1080P recordings you are right, it would have been great to include
I got a H6S and it's video intervals is at 1 and 5 min, which i find very inconvenient. Imagine a 30 min video will be broken into 6 files and i have to do editing to patch up the files after that. Any way to set it to unlimited duration?
You mentioned if price isn't an issue, to go with the Yi+. But if price isn't really an issue, would you recommend a GoPro 7? I guess I'm curious to see if GoPro devices have technology worth twice to three times the cost of the listed product prices. The Yi+ looks amazing and seems to revival GoPro 7. Would love to hear your thoughts. This has been incredibly informative!
Want a good action camera to start my videos of outdoors hunting fishing and street car what do you recommend? And if I'm using one hunting should I put on waterproof case?
I rarely use my cameras in a waterproof case... but depending where you go and on the weather it may make sense to keep it in the case. If you want the best of all the yi 4k+, but if you want something cheaper any other ones from the video will do good
Could you give us the cameras you tried that didn't make the cut? I'm curious if the one I wanted was one of those? FITFORT Action Camera 4K 16MP Wi-Fi Ultra HD and DBPOWER DB0923 N5 4K Action Camera, 5X Zoom HD 20MP. Those 2 are the most popular ones I've heard about but not mentioned here.
Hey man I was looking to buy a action camera to start moto vlogging and for safety reasons as well! I was looking at the akaso v50 pro and the apeman A80 and the apeman trawo and the yi 4k.I'm a little confused which one would you suggest? Not really liking the yi 4k as it comes with no accessories. I'm open to more suggestions as well 🙂
The Akaso V50 Pro looks to be an almost exact copy of the DBPower EX7000 action camera that I returned to Amazon recently for being a total dud. No sound, WIFi didn't work and would lock up the camera from three to four minutes, and the touch screen was mostly unworkable and usually failed to acknowledge my touch. At the urging of Amazon support, I tried to reset the camera by removing the battery but was unable to. It seems the decal they slap on the battery got hung up inside the camera and no amount of effort would remove it from its bay. The camera, as such, had less value than cow dung. This experience rules out any chance that I would consider the Akaso branded products along with the DBPower brand, as they clearly appear to come from the same manufacturer.
@@RedskullPro It matters not to me which came first, what matters to me is that they both come from the same house. They are basically the same, although the Akaso appears to be an upgrade. Still, their current interpretation and implementation of the basic technologies are common to both cameras; if one is suspect, then they all are suspect, until proven differently. Burn me one time, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me. NOT gonna happen. There were way too many faults with the DBPower EX7000 for me to ever consider an Akaso.
Hi Alex, love your reviews. You're fast, to the point and don't waste time. I have 1 question: Will the Campark X30 work with a wrist remote control from the X20 or other camera?
I saw some people comment somewhere that some brands like for example Eken send influencers/reviewers better cameras with higher quality parts to secure great reviews, but the actual cameras sold to the public have much lower parts and poor performance. So I'm always a bit suspicious about reviews of free PR (altnough I don't know if it's the case), but of course this is not the reviewers' fault but the brands' dishonest marketing. But yeah, I've definitely seen good reviews on youtube and then off-site negative reviews by regular buyers of the exact same equipment.

The camera did froze a few times right before the screen when out. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone.
Thanks for sharing...No suggestions from me...
Thanks for this amazing video, now I know the perfc Action Cam for me!
How does the GoPro hero4 compare with these? Im trying to mount one of these on my helmet. I only have $100 to spend.
Any advice?
Check out my review of the Akaso V50X and also my comparison to the GoPro 7 Black. Both videos done in the past month
jeez man, your accent is even better than mine, and I am russian lol
i'm not russian :)
... I finally gave an order for Akaso V50Pro based on your review. Can you mention the linear mode(like in GoPro), as sometimes we dont like the fisheye results. Also when you conclude can you show some table with features on one side and cameras on top for quick comparison.
You can change the field of view and it makes the fisheye effect less noticeable
Welcome back my name is Alex
Hi Alex
Thanks for this video. There were dozens of them on Amazon and I didn't know which to choose.
i'm glad the video was useful!
So if I was able to get the v50 elite on sale for the same price as the v50 pro which one would you recommend?
Can you tell me which will be the best action camera for Moto blogging and in the budget..pls
The Yi +seemed to have done the best in low light also you don’t talk about max field of view with all cameras and that OSAKO camera I’ve heard freezes a lot when you start it and images are just ok but not great.
Does the Akaso have internal charging or must you take out the battery and charge by itself
You can plug in the camera and will charge
just a heads-up, the yi 4k will be on a 50% sale 2 days from now on alliexpress
nice, thanks for sharing!
My choice was the Firefly 8SE.
Another great video.
Congratulations.
defiantly one of my favorite cameras this year. I can't wait for the next version that will probably have EIS for 4K recordings
If I were you I would stick with the gopro hero 7 which is $200 dollars and have 4k resolution
kingbalancexd Thanks! That’s exactly what I was thinking!
ThankYou
how the hero5 compare since is close in price in particular used ?
In this period, which action camera would you recommend to take photos both from the point of view of quality and the visual angle?
check out my review of the Akaso v50x
Please help me what's the difference between sjcam m20 and akaso v50 pro which is better? Why? Thanks for replying 😊
well, the M20 cannot record in real 4k, the v50 pr can.
DO A NEW VERSION OF THIS VIDEO OR i will cry
V50 it is : )
Hey, thanks for watching. I'm glad the video was useful!
Great video man. I had no idea there were options out there like this like this.
Thanks for the tips, just ordered Akaso V50 Pro from Amazon Italy, found the best deal from there.
awesome, happy to help!
Did you tried it underwater ?
After i turnoff the camera, and when i start it back up, the new recording starts overriding the old files. Any solution to this? I am using generic NEEWER brand.
the LOOP video setting is OFF.
I never used any of their cameras... and never had that happening
where would. you rank the new apeman a80 4k among. those cameras? is it way worse?
Nice video, but I am confused on what to get, should i go with the akaso v50 pro/ gopro hero 2018 or yi 4k, hope i can get answer, thanks
did you see the new Akaso V50X? check out my review and comparison with the V50 Pro
H9R doesn't have EIS, I think H6S should be on this list instead, I bought mine for $68 on Amazon and I think it's a pretty good deal.
I haven't got to personally try it, therefore I couldn't include it. But if it records in real 4K and it has EIS for 1080P recordings you are right, it would have been great to include
Vegas Knights Can that have an external mic?
I got a H6S and it's video intervals is at 1 and 5 min, which i find very inconvenient. Imagine a 30 min video will be broken into 6 files and i have to do editing to patch up the files after that. Any way to set it to unlimited duration?
If you have to choose between akaso v50 pro vs akaso v50 elite ... which and why is better??
The V50 Elite fakes the 4k60...so for that reason I would skip it
please help me, iam between yi 4k and akaso v50 pro, which has a better quality video .i use about tennis
yi 4k+
@@RedskullPro ok thanks but iam between fk and akaso v50 pro because in greece its similar price.. i will not fk plus for now
You mentioned if price isn't an issue, to go with the Yi+.
I haven't tried the GoPro 7 or 6 :) I contacted GoPro asking for review units and they never got a reply...therefore, I cannot recommend it.
Guess either these 2 really suck Ass, or you don't want to share your opinions of either :(.
I'm open to more suggestions as well 🙂
Check out the Akaso V50X, it is cheaper and better stabilization
Which would you recommend for snorkelling and has good mobility stabilisation and microphone
Yi 4k+ is the best action camera I tried so far
Does the firefly record in 1080 at 60 fps?
Can i use these cameras also on my 1080p HD TV?
The Akaso V50 Pro was the first one to come to the market with this version, so I am gonna assume that DBPower just copied this camera.
There is a good chance it will, but since I didn't personally tried it...I can't say 100%
@@RedskullPro Thanks anyway.
It could happen...
Nice review... This is what im looking for a cheap one but good quality.
the V50 Pro is probably your best bet. I also like the Firefly 8se
thanks
Well said bro for me all of them are the best...
Thanks for watching!
That Firefly night footage looked WAY lower than 30 FPS.. .or is it just me?
