I have learned so much off of this video series. It's almost mind blowing that I haven't been making rpg's sooner. Your teaching style is exactly how a gamer like me thinks. "call this whatever skill for now" or "This is the whatever item that does this common event...like add this guy to our party". I just wanted to give a stellar review to show my appreciation and thanks for putting all of this out there in 2016. It's been 6 years and these videos are still helping people self educate.
Hahaha! I LOVE YOUR TUTORIAL - I wish there was a laughing emoji I could react with, not because its got any issues, this actually is making me feel more comfortable with the program but just because you made me crack up so many times. So great 🤣
What the video says in Spanish, I clarify that my first language is not English.// Lo que dice el video en español, aclaro que mi primer idioma no es ingles: ¡RPG Maker MV! Llamado .... DBFLKAISUFBLFBLKYBFEE Entonces ... comencemos a hacer .... cosas.
holy crap im very late but this is the best tutorial series I've ever come across for anything. You are hilarious and very easy to here, and you keep it simple in a way that beginners can understand perfectly. THANK YOU!!
Why can't programming tutorials be as fun as you?! You're entertaining and easy going. I'm actually really motivated to make my first game now! Even though this just an excuse not to study any leetcode lol.
That's funny, I was screwing around on this program for the first time today, just trying to figure it out for a bit. (it's fun to experience it with no knowledge for at least a little bit). So I made a little map just like that, and did all kinds of experiments with it. Now after about 24 hours, I have 3 different monster spawning zones with 3 different encounter tables, multiple sets of different monsters (at least 3) per zone of varying difficulty. 3 NPCs, and a custom character. 1st NPC was a boss minotaur that challenges you to fight some of his crappy minions, and if you say yes, he gives you a random encounter. If you say no, he attacks you with some backup flame imps. If you kill him, he disappears and laments his demise. 2nd NPC was Hello Bear. He was a bear that randomly wanders around the map and if you talk to him he says Hello. If you keep talking to him he roars and gives you a free potion. After getting 4 potions, if you try again, he warns you (by name) to not get greedy or he'll eat you. If you keep pestering him 2 or 3 more times, you have to fight him as a hidden boss. He is really tough and drops potions, gold and a lot of exp if you kill him. 3rd NPC was a rogue shopkeeper that I crafted myself from the character editor, and made him into a weapons shop, where you can sell stuff. He only appears if you gather some gems that I created in the item registry that are just valuable and do nothing. I then made a bunch of different weapons, armors, classes, and items.. lost all of that due to a crash, redid a bunch of it for many hours, and then screwed around trying to install my 25 or so DLCs.... then I downloaded some more... then I realized if I don't organize them now, I never ever will. It is just a single map, but I screwed around on it a lot. Oh, I even made custom skills, attacks, and buffs/debuffs like Stun, Bleed, Burn, Guard Break, Poison Sting, Poison Spell, Fire AOE magic, attack and speed buffs, a 5 hit omni-slash attack, and etc. And a bunch of custom consumable items and weapons/armor pieces. Did you know you can add stuff like Pants, Shoes, and accessory #2 as options for your character? It's kind of a pain with the preset characters, but probably shouldn't use those anyway. I even spent literal hours figuring out how the animations work and making my own custom skill animation. I took a arrow animation from the special arrow skill and made it green and then added a purple poison animation plus sound effects and ended up with a Poison Sting animation. That was an ordeal, not gonna lie. I wish someone had told me that each single tile of animation counts as a pattern number, and they number from left to right from 1 to like 99 or so and then cut off when you run out of them, and then the second animation starts over at pattern 100 and goes from there. SUPER CONFUSING. Also the targeting thing is not intuitive at all and the entire animation section is a major pain to use. I had to animate existing animations frame by frame just to get it to work. But I did get it eventually. Also I'm shocked that I couldn't find a single bite animation. That seems like a no brainer for like 80% of beast like monsters. So yeah.. had a lot of fun.. that was only like 2 days or so. Now I'm tired and watching tutorials so I can laugh at my stupid mistakes.
I've been watching these videos and applying them to a test game showing all the cool stuff I learned before I dive into making a full fledged RPG however I can't seem to figure out how to send the game to friends so they can stream their play through discord and I can gather data. Any help on this??
I didn't care that much about RPG maker at first (since I'm used to GameMaker at that point) But now after this one, I'm interested in learning it (just by first impressions, it has many things that I just couldn't do in GameMaker)
Hello, I've been designing a game prequel to parasite eve from the PS1 remake in RPG MV lately... yet I seem to have hit a brain fart!! Your help on tis would be much appreciated. Some of the weapons are Pistol, Rifle, Assault Rifle, Shot Gun, but I'm stumped on how to actually use Questions with conditional branches within them,... such as example: "Will you MOD Pistol?, or NO!, Next Weapon" So MOD Pistol will enhance it using Poison, Explosive, Tranquilize, or P.E.T which is all combined effects. Which I already have all figured out. I'm stuck on the part where getting to select "Next Weapon..." will choose from only a Weapon that's in the Inventory or equip obviously not one you don't have yet. and with whichever party member you have within your current party to select Weapon from to Modify. Any help please or Tips?
I bought rpg maker mv on my ps5 and your vids helped me a lot but I still am having trouble getting few things done. I was wondering if you can help me out here.
i expected this version of RPGmaker to be a "complete to date" of all features they've made for use to this point... This so far looks like what should be free to play...

I've been playing rpg's since before I can remember, and have always wanted to make my own without all the annoying crap, and have all the cool features I've always wanted.
So great 🤣
Play your amazing game thing WHATEVER
why do you sound like Dustin from Stranger Things
Fell in love with the humor, your voice is adorable, and I have already learned more than what the tutorials offered! Thanks!
Excellent tutorial! You make very informative and compact videos, dude. Thank you!
Best. Tuto. Ever.
I laughed, I learned, and I laughed. Thanks pal, now I'm happy!
What the video says in Spanish, I clarify that my first language is not English.// Lo que dice el video en español, aclaro que mi primer idioma no es ingles:
¡RPG Maker MV!
Llamado .... DBFLKAISUFBLFBLKYBFEE
Entonces ... comencemos a hacer .... cosas.
¡Yeeeeh!
Bueno, probemos otras herramientas.
Bueno, ahora si quieres probar tu increíble obra maestra
Y podemos comenzar nuestro juego simplemente yendo a Game.exe

u-uhh...
holy crap im very late but this is the best tutorial series I've ever come across for anything. You are hilarious and very easy to here, and you keep it simple in a way that beginners can understand perfectly. THANK YOU!!
Thanks for starting at really basics.... so many tutorials dont do that. GJ!
Why can't programming tutorials be as fun as you?! You're entertaining and easy going. I'm actually really motivated to make my first game now! Even though this just an excuse not to study any leetcode lol.
I realized omori was made by this platform
Gonna grind these tutorials, I want to make my own game 😮
I love your personality so much omg
I tried to follow your instructions but when I pushed play it had me save but then the characters wouldn't move around. what did I do wrong?
Use different tiles?
very useful and told in a funny way, i'm watching the full series
Wish i could sub and up-vote more than once, keep up the great work, humor is a great touch to an already great series!
Quick thing: when I tried to change the file location, it would not load.
It only works if you are using the default file location.
Is it possible to draw your own maps without using the engine assets? Like say I drew a grass tile and wanted to import it and use it
Dafuq, this thing is so simple.
Holy shit you are so energetic: love it.
Boutta make a game better than Omori after this tutorial.
also the background music is really good
I've been watching these videos and applying them to a test game showing all the cool stuff I learned before I dive into making a full fledged RPG
however I can't seem to figure out how to send the game to friends so they can stream their play through discord and I can gather data. Any help on this??
Can i use this tutorial for MZ?
Picked this up on Steam on sale, found this in the guides. 7 years later but hey, thanks man really appreciate the tutorial playlist.
I didn't care that much about RPG maker at first (since I'm used to GameMaker at that point)
But now after this one, I'm interested in learning it (just by first impressions, it has many things that I just couldn't do in GameMaker)
Are you ok? You sound like ur having a bad day
Very sweet of you. ^^
First RPG MAker MV tutorial I watch, and I love it XD I like his sense of humor
Cuman mau bilang aja.... Gw datang karna abis liat RPG buatannya Ollie Vtuber... Jadi penasaran kek gimana RPG Maker MV :v
Not only is this helpful af, but you're actually really fun to listen to! Thank you so much!
I was excpecting just watch 1 or 2 minutes but damn you are so funny, now I want to watch all the other tutorials you made
I bought rpg maker mv on my ps5 and your vids helped me a lot but I still am having trouble getting few things done. I was wondering if you can help me out here.
You’re so funny!! Haha. That made this video fun
i expected this version of RPGmaker to be a "complete to date" of all features they've made for use to this point... This so far looks like what should be free to play...
So test run works. Outside of RPG maker studio, by activation of the exe file does not. Just gives me failed retry message.
thank you immensely for making this video/ play list but one thing you are trying WAY to hard to be funny that it becomes distracting
Obrigado.
it have a fake lisence to rip other developer
lmao
