Well, now we just throw billions of tons into the trash that end up in the ocean.
And this is why BloonsTD 6 exist now
That has to be some Pennywise shit when you're out drifting, parched and about to go, a ton of balloons suddenly decends.
❤ exactly 💯
Lake eerie is a freshwater lake so I don’t think they’d be parched. But they’d definitely die later on from drinking a million different chemicals from that nasty lake
What goes up…must come down. How did they forget that part?
👏👏👏
Exact!
Coz they were from Ohio
They expected them to pop before they came back down, I assume. They didn't think they'd come back down inflated but that's cause of the weather not their predictions. Still a nice but stupid idea. Welcome to the 80s
They were expecting them to float away on the wind. They were hoping it would be someone elses problem.
our parent's generation really loved the environment lol
As if they did this on purpose.
@MrEpeeFencer they could've prevented it on purpose. don't cover previous generation's asses when they're just as much of the problem as we are.
so much they will double down and deny climate change, because nothing is their fault, right?
@@MrEpeeFencer what the fuck do you mean "as if they did this on purpose"? They didn't get 2500 volunteers to ACCIDENTALLY fill 1.5million balloons to just fuck into the sky. Where'd they think it'd go? The void? Whether they came down or not that's 1.5 million shitty little bits of non biodegradable plastic landing somewhere.
@@MrEpeeFencer It doesn't take a genius to consider the consequences of releasing over a million balloons, even in 86. Thoughtlessness =/= consequential immunity
It’s impossible that nobody, between those thousands of people involved in the event, thought about the consequences of this stupid initiative. Even just the ecological impact should’ve been enough to abandon the idea.
It seems like, from all the comments I'm getting, ppl in the 80s just didnt give a f*ck
this is definetely where the ohio meme started
Imagine being stranded in lake erie yelling for help, drowning even, and out of no where you a cluster of balloons falling down toward you. I’d think it was a message of God and I was seeing things honestly.

@dawudjtownsville that had me thinking they mustve died before seeing any balloons
I’m in the Coast Guard. Stray balloons waste so much time in searches even today. They can be spotted at a distance, are about the size of a head, and on every search we need to break off and investigate in case it’s our target. We logged the time during a 10 hour search a couple months ago. Almost 100 minutes off the search pattern investigating balloons.

Imagine helplessly floating at sea. It's a life or death situation. You're praying that someone will come rescue you. Then, suddenly, countless balloons start falling from the sky around you. You're unsure if this is actually happening, or if you're just experiencing late-stage hypothermia.
The fact that i just laughed at this scared the heck out of me....
@@SusanKay-I was thinking the same thing. I seen survivor dude make floaties out of his pants by tying the bottoms of the legs and then capturing air in them. Apparently wet jeans will hold air. Just imagine what you could do with a zillion balloons?
@@SusanKay- If the water temp. is below your own body temp. you will lose body heat to your surroundings and freeze to death, even 25C water will eventually kill you from hypothermia
