SOME OLD FOOTAGE TO WATCH ON A WET WENDESDAY MORNING.
Just found this little gem from your back catalogue Mike, and what memories it brings back. I used to be a guard on these units working the Stratford-Upon-Avon line from Snow Hill via Henley and via Lapworth. Then, years later I vividly recall them in the bay at Bedford waiting their next trip to Bletchley.
Incidentally, when I did my training to be a freight guard all those years ago it involved a trip to the signal box at Forders Sidings. What a cracking little box it was. I can also recall the short time a class 31 plus 2 coaches was used to do the Bedford to Bletchley service.
In the intervening years I have been lucky enough to go inside numerous 'boxes', the highlight of which has to be the 3-4 visits I have made to Melton Mowbray box, sitting high in the air. I did used to also frequent the box at Polesworth, sadly long gone. It sat in the ten-foot, between the up and down fast lines, perched up in the air on a narrow base, the box hanging slightly over the fast tracks. When a train passed under at speed the whole box shook. Happy days.
You mentioned so many interesting location in your comment Julian, first I see over the years you have done a fair few job when working for the railways.
I do remember all these areas and boxes which as you say have sadly gone, I'm sure I have uploaded a video with the TnT Fragenset class 31and two coaches working the Bedford to Bletchley line.
Polesworth used to be a great station for taking photos and videos when it was a proper station not like now with one train a day going north.
Thanks for telling me about your past. Regards Mike.
Ah the cute little Bubble cars....nice old film

I miss the old bubble cars we was spoiled had them on Leamington to Stratford local and stourbridge town services good old days when railways still had all the old stuff running

These single car units also used to work between Leamington Spa and Stratford-Upon-Avon. Great little trains.....
Did they, so that's why TYS had four of them, I know one was needed for the Stourbridge branch. Cheers for comment. Mike.
Enjoyable trip back in time. Thankfully a lot of the bubble cars have been preserved.
Yes indeed they are, I was surprised how many have been kept.
The green one looks immaculate! Great vid again 👍
Thank you, and Cheers for watching.

That was really good at Millbrook watching the signalman going about his duties thanks Mike
Well Jeff when I read comments like yours it gives me the enthusiasm to carry on uploading my unseen filming I did years ago before youtube. Mike.
Evening Mike. Home at last 👍🏻 So nothing better that one of your videos for relaxing for the weekend. Love them bubble cars. It's on my wish list for my model layout. Hopefully next year when this retched Covid-19 has passed 😖 Not a lover of the Dutch livery but all the same nice seeing a brush with a uninformed rake of mineral wagons. Have a great weekend cheers Stevie 😎
Morning Stevie that's good, I'm not happy about missing the last pacer into Man Vic last night, I thought they finished in December and was going to get them in two weeks. I suppose it was on the local news they were finishing yesterday. Just going to upload a video from the past.
hi. we used to have these 121s on the henley on thames branch in 1967, as children we would sit near the driver. no overcrowding in those days,
Yeah it was great to sit at the front of the train, it made the journey more interesting wasn't it Peter, pleased it borough back some nice memorise for you.
When I was very young we used to live in Twyford. According to my dad this was the first train I ever went on. Great to see some footage of the 121's :-)
So you went to Henley On Thames David.
@@antman09ful1 Yes, lived there for a while in my 20's too.
Rare sight of 47300, which was converted from 47468 of course. That was a pretty labour-intensive branch line though wasn't it.
I have just come across footage of this line when I filmed TnT 31 working the services. Thanks for watching this video.
Nice old images with DMU! Perfect video! Thumbs Up
Best Regards from Romania
