Thanks 😁 It does seem quite a strange crossing. An MCB-OC crossing more than likely cannot be installed here due to design and crossing regulations. I guess it’s fine as it is, since not a lot of people use it
How much did this level crossing cost to build? I guess National Rail were VERY CHEAP on this one. No warning lights or alarms, just a piece of wood on the tracks and a few signs at both ends and, wham bam, you've got yourself a level crossing.
There’s good visibility at this crossing so you can see trains a good and safe distance away. Plus, not many people use this crossing on a day to day basis.
Yeah, it seems strange that there are only signs here. However, there are good views in either direction and I don’t think many people use this crossing anyway.
I’m surprised there’s no visible signal lights or audible alarm that goes off when a train is coming so some wanker who’s lost in their own little world doesn’t get flattened by an oncoming train! Or is this one of the paths less traveled?
It doesn’t look like it’s used very frequently. The visibility up and down the line here is actually quite good so you’ll be able to see a train a reasonably safe distance away.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel when you looked to the right, I could see the track curving, which surely must cut right into visibility when crossing the other way. At 125mph it takes less than 30 seconds to cover a mile so if your eyesight isn't stellar, you could struggle to see a train a mile or two off, so I think this sort of crossing really ought to have a mini red/green light and an alarm
Nice video! Surprised they haven't put any signals in here, TBH. If not too many people use it, an MCB-OC could work well here.

0:49 The buffer stop that got away, leaving the railway station for a more peaceful life. 🤣
Haha, there’s still loads of trains that pass here so not anymore peaceful lol
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel koji kk
There should be boom gates and signals for pedestrians. Very dangerous
you can see miles each way and it's used very little
Nice video! Bedford is where my family live.
I know that this is stating the obvious, but the trains are there before you know it! Dangerous. Great video! 👍

Not very costly at all I imagine. This crossing has probably existed here for many years prior and there's been to need or requirement to change it.
Why isn't there a voice warning or alarm for when a "train in excess of 100MPH" could come through at any time 😐

@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel Oh I see
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel good mate
Very dangerous indeed! These trains are going way too fast and can be on top of you before you know it! No way should anyone cross this 😮😧😨
Should sound a horn. 😮
Great video
Thanks 👍
Great And Nice Video
Thanks 👍
Nice
Thanks 👍
You’d think they’d have lights and an audible warning at this crossing considering how fast trains travel on this line.

It's literally either side of a field with the most stinging nettles I've seen haha. Primrose is much more dangerous
