    I don't bother flat iroining my hair as it doesn't last more than a few hours. My hair reverts quickly. I tried it once and as soon as I left the salon my roots puffed up. It looks lovely on you and kudos for being so dedicated because 6hrs is a lot. 😊☺

    I love your hair so much that I almost cried. My hair is 4c too and it has been stuck at somewhere between neck and shoulder length for years(it keeps breaking). Super damaged! But i just recently started researching on how to take care of it better and I really appreciate that you prayed for your hair when you started your journey. I hope to get there soon.
    I love all your videos. Beautiful Christian lady.

    I love that you know your hair and just accept it for what it can and cannot do. Thanks for sharing. I was getting a bit annoyed the other day because no matter how many times I comb my hair, it always tangles up. So I've had to learn not combing it so much. I can use threading before braiding/kinky twisting my hair too. No one can handle my hair but me lol.

    I need to start threading. I think you have perfected your regiment. Your length says it all. We, who are growing our hair to your length needs to learn from you.
    And yes, patience...is definitely key. You represent us 4B girls well.

    I am glad that you decided not to relax. We miss relaxing because we get frustrated with our hair, it doesn't do what we tell it sometimes and doesn't look the way we want it to.
    In reality what really frustrates us is the time management.
    I have a friend that has 4b/c type hair and it took her a while to figure out what works but she finally has a regimen down. It took me (4a/3c) to figure it out as well and I'm still learning.
    One thing that I realized a while back is that just because someone shares the same curl pattern as you does not mean that the products they use will work for you. We have to keep in mind that we eat different foods and react to them in different ways, we have different habits and upbringing that results in different things.
    So with that said, If you do not know who they are, I would love to suggest some sisters for you to watch and take some suggestions of each one and try and/or personalize it to you.
    You be even more surprised and feel like you have been living under a rock.

    I know this may seem weird to you, but you should really use a heat protecant with a lot of silicone in it. I know 4c girls may be doubtful of it because it stops your hair from absorbing moisture, but for heat styling it's exactly what hair needs. They prevent your hair from heat damage, and provide tremendous slip, so u can detangle then go through with a smaller comb to do the chase method. Also oils really do allow your hair to fry when using flat irons. I have hair just like yours. But it does straighten and stay straight when I flat iron it.

    Now this is 4C hair. We have the same texture. This is the first time I've seen anyone who notes the same struggles I have. The chase method? Blow drying with an attachment or brush? None of them work for me. I was thinking about relaxing, I've been transitioning for a year, but things will get better with time and more length. I did just this, last night. I've accepted that my hair is what it is. I no longer have a desire to straighten it, it just takes too much. Not to mention, my hair reverts within hours towards the roots. Keep the videos coming. I now see what I have to look forward to!!

    I remember when I used to straighten my hair, I would always use some sort of cream in it before hand, because it helped to make it smoother, and people would even think that I had relaxed my hair, and I've never relaxed to hair to this day. (Btw I have 4C hair too :) )

    I have a similar hair type to you and I'll say what has really saved me detangling wise is the PADDLE BRUSH. Yes, the same one that people with straight hair use. I only use it under running water with conditioner in my hair, but it gets ALL of my tangles out. I first finger detangle, use the wide tooth comb a couple times, then the paddle brush, and then two strand twist my hair so it stays detangled. It really catches all of the shed hairs and you're left with tangle-free hair. I'm two years into my journey and just discovering this. I'm going to use it before I straighten my hair again to make the process easier. Hope this helps :)

I had forgotten that part but its really good to see that someone else would go for that option as well. I am inspired.

    Aloe vera gel or juice mix with water helps a lot with the ends. I am 4c; my ends now coil which I did not think was possible for 70-80% of my hair. Using aloe vera water mixture as my L in the L.O.C method has been very beneficial to my hair. You may want to try that.

    Of course, seeing that this was posted last summer... I believe you mentioned that you were trying the threading for the first time. After seeing yours, I know that there's no point in me trying, because my hair is the same as yours, but without the length. The last time I washed my hair completely free, I vowed to never do that again! It's growing in twice as thick now, which I'm excited about, but I won't do that with 4c hair! I have to have my hair in around 8 fat twists and wash them individually and twist it back once it's clean. That has given me more time in my life, thanks to Naptural85! Thanks for posting this!!!

    I have a suggestion for you beloved.... wet your hair prior to combing it. It will break if you do it dry. At least for me. I recommend jus using a spray bottle. Always start at the ends and work your way up the hair. And lastly use a wide tooth comb...which I know you do use . Thank you for sharing your videos. I really feel a witness in my spirit about your hair journey ...long story ..but the timing was 100% perfect and I stumbled across the video by ...well some might say fluke but I believe it was God's will . God bless Tee

    Your hair is exactly like mine! I'm so glad I found your videos. I get so frustrated with my tangles. Most people think my hair is long but I would love to achieve your length. I am maybe 4 inches away and I am having the hardest time getting there. I rip my hair and then when the ends are bad I cut 2 inches to make it look better. I am addicted to cutting.

    I was scared for the LONGEST to put heat on my hair, but I did it around this time last year. How I straightened it (and it got amazingly straight) was that I used the stretch from an old curlformers set. When the curls go flat, it looks almost completely straight. Just to reinforce the straight look, I go over it with a flat iron. It works well. I was able to keep it like that for a week or two. I eventually put water on my hair to get it back to normal because I missed my curl.

    For tangles I just started using a detangler by Mane 'N Tail. My hair is combination 4 b-c and this detangler seems to melt the tangles as I comb through. It also worked for my aunt's hair that tangles into a mess as soon as water touches it. I paid $4.50 for 12 oz. I will try your threading method because of the way you do the ends of your hair to protect them. Great videos - thank you.

    My suggestions would be to do deep a moisturizing deep conditioner before threading also moisturize with a water based leave in (i add apple cidear vinegar to my leave in to lower the ph and close the cuticle). I would also detangle with a denman after unraveling. My last suggestinf would be to use a tension comb and a thinner cermaic/tourmaline iron.

    Try only deep detangling your hair by rinsing out conditioner you have slept in overnight, with a wide tooth comb under a filtered full force shower. Your hair must have moisture. Try mixing your shea butter with pure argan oil. Eventually your hair will be trained to not tangle even when fully shrunken if you never try to detangle when dry. Still be gentle, let the force of the water and conditioner do the work. God bless you. I was co washing and leaving conditioner in my 4c hair way before there was a term co-wash. Oh and you and your hair are very beautiful, God Bless you.

    I'm not sure if you are concerned about product build up on your hair, but it's probably why your hair is not able to straighten with the flat iron. The key to straight hair is very clean air. The oil you are using can be used a lot more sparingly. you can always use a lighter oil after using your shea butter, if it absorbed it a little the next day. You could of just used a blow dryer with a comb attached to get the look you achieved. if your hair is damaged set flat iron below 300. If its healthy and thick/corse you can go up to 350-400. I go all out on my hair when I straighten it. I like bone straight hair. I blow dry with a styling cream, then I press with a heavy comb( my hair is thick so I need a professional hot comb)-before I flat iorn, I put a light oil(Shea Moisture Jamaican black Castro oil, Nubian Heritage Indian Hemp & Tamanu. I'm done. I don't touch my hair with a flat iron again for the next couple of days. Then I'm done with straight hair for a couple of months. Your hair is beautiful and what ever working for you do it. God Bless!

    i braid and detangle my hair while wet after co washing and let it dry 80 percent then blow dry it with warm heat while using a heat protectant then flat iron my hair at a very low temperature while doing the chase method with a brush or round brush( but make sure you detangle again before using the round brush)

In the morning I just unwrap my scarf and detangle the twist and it becomes curly and has more volume that way for me

    african threading straightens out african hair a lot. and the smaller the sections, the better it works. however, it takes long (in my opinion) and thats why i've never gotten around to doing it a second time. i loved the texture afterwards, but to me it wasnt worth it. i use curl formers now and that too, isnt nice with my time- its nice afterwards, but the trade-off isnt worth it

    I got 4s hair too I know how the chase method can be annoying this is why I'm using a boar bristle brush when I flat iron my hair so much better

    i think for a better turn out, instead of putting shea butter on each individual section, section off your hair in four sections and apply a small amount of shea butter to each section. brush and comb it through. braid up the sections, and flat iron your hair THE NEXT DAY using the boar bristle method. you wont have as much stringy texture.

    I would think that the oil in the shea butter would fry/cook your hair when used with a flat iron as a heat protectant.

  • @livonsundae
    @livonsundae 10 лет назад

    you should probably wash and condition right before you flatiron.. then detangle your whole head while blow drying on low heat.. saves time and you don't have to put in much effort.. it would definitely be faster than 6 hours.

  • @CutieSexySachyylol
    @CutieSexySachyylol 9 лет назад

    I usually spray my hair with water before I detangle it and it really helps me detangle my hair so you should try that, maybe it'll work for you too:)

  • @M808J
    @M808J 9 лет назад

    Do you detangle on dry hair only once its been stretched by threading? Or do you ever detangle on damp hair? Also, have you ever used protein conditioner/treatment to strengthen your hair? Great videos by the way, please keep them coming.

    You are my hair icon. Your hair is so lovely. I've got type 4C hair and its about just past my collar bone. How long do you think it will take to get to bra-strap (or waist-unlikely) length. That's my goal for this year.
    I've official decided not use hairdressers because the last two wrecked my hair and although I didn't loose length they caused a lot to just fall out. I some how got a 50:50 split of hair from my parents ( one is soft and thin 4C and the other thicker and darker 4C strands.)They are peppered relatively evenly so when the finer ones fell out most ppl didn't notice but in the shower is was like a horror film.
    What your advise in dealing with the thickness difference now that the other hair is growing back. I made the decision to stop relaxing in 2006 but an annoying hairdresser who was not meant to perm it did so in 2010. Maybe I'm a bit impatient but I really want to have glorious long hair like yourself and stop having to put in braids.

      funmbimoti aww thats so sweet hun and humbled thank you! Im so sorry to hear about your hair dresser experience o dear! I would advise to cut off bit by bit the thin ends as it grows out and to have lots of patience lol! You will find that the less you are focused about the length the more it will grow longer.. lastly to eat healthy foods, greens, fruits and drink lots of water, this will make such a difference overall an din the long run. Any issues let me know hun have a great hair journey! x

    whenever I use heat protectant spray with silicon to straighten my hair it feels like cardboard. I also tried the shea butter after watching this video but It felt like my hair was burning

    hey the reason your hair got wavey is because you rolled it tightly Just after you flat ironed it. Next time either pin i to the side or roll it Very losely.
    hope that helps

    I doubt you can get it where you are but look up the Beautiful Textures Texture Management System, there are lots of reviews here on YT. I LOVE the stuff I am 4b and I tell you it cuts flat ironing time by more than half and it helps with reversion. Check it out!
