I remember this, and I have 5 or 6 of them still in the package. I thought even back then, they would eventually be worth something more than just a penny. Though I yet to even see the dollar coin.
thats pretty neat I remembered a story where a truck was broken into and thousand were stolen in dimes, but the thieves could get the drums out they tried to knock them over but its so heavy they left behind like 400,000 in dimes that were still in sealed drums and spilled all over the parking lot...imagine theres a million plus in money to steal but its just too heavy to do it lol

I wasn’t born in the late 90’s more like early-mid. I was born in 1994 and remember these. I was 6 when these ‘00 pennies came out and I remember this vividly… Nostalgia right here.
If you trust your grading skills and feel like the cents have a shot at ms67rd or higher, it might be worth sending to PCGS. If it grades 66 or lower, it wouldn't be worth more than the cost of grading fees.
I plan to send it in just for kicks even if its AU its a fun part of my collection, these pennies were not handled in any special way and it would be rare they would grade high thats why higher grades are so valuable
I too remember being a kid on New Years and thinking the world was going to end!😂 Very cool coins brother! I remember them doing the promotion also, and I want to say I got one of the cents if I remember correctly. Who knows where it is now though😂
@@planecrazy2 yeah i know ive read about the projections. I just hope it crashed back to 19k then i might be able to get into even more but its not likely. I wish i bought it at 5o$ But didnt know shit about it. I was like wtf is a bitcoin. Then just kinda forgot.
@@johnniewalker3134 ok good! Yeah I also wish I responded faster and earlier. I’ve made 20% slowly DCAing since the start of the year, but if I would have looked into it 2 months earlier it would have been more like 40-60%. I’m grateful I got into it at all though.
The American one cent piece being called a "penny" is essentially slang like how we sometimes call dollars "bucks". There is of course more to the story, I'll leave it to Jeff.
I was 7 years old in the year 2000 and didn’t care what was going to happen. I was actually pretty wise for my age and always have to remember not to follow the sheeple when they “freak out” every other year or so.

I still have my penny somewhere. I kept it in the package thinking it would grow in value. I'm pleased it is worth on the order of $15.
I'm a truck driver. I hauled $ 60,000 in pennies from the Denver mint to the federal reserve Bank in Los Angeles.
Now that’s cool
Thats over 33,000 pounds of pennies 😮 wow
If you count the containers it was over 40k pounds.

I don't remember these, but it's definitely pretty cool to learn about! Thanks Jeff!
Every Millennial or couple decades society believes the world is going to end. I remember when everyone thought the world was going to end in 2012😂🤣😂
I remember finding them in the box as a kid, still have them!
Jeff, what's the most valuable coin you've found? Or any other treasure(stamps? etc).
Great video man. I think I have one of the Sacajawea coin. Love the channel man. 😊
Yes I still have the same exact one from a Cheerios box. I was 11. I didn't know you could get more than a penny though!

yes this is true, anything below 64 is on the low end of things but still worth something just not worth it to collectors.

First I've heard of this ,born in the 70s. But cool info !
Damn, if I would have known that I would have traded my fruity pebbles for cheerios.
I remember my dad opening a box of Cheerios in early 2000 and pulling out one of these sealed pennies.
Oh damn, the Cheerios gold coin does look better and have more details. Family didn't care to buy the cereal for the coins.
I had one of those. Shame I no longer have it.
I don't even remember hearing about these coins, didn't eat cereal at the time.
Damn that’s wild as hell.
I have good amount of them and graded ones as well
I wish i knew bitcoin was gonna explode like it did....
It is still going to go up about 2x the 70K that is is now within the year. Not too late!

X-Ray them to see if they are wide AMs.
I've got 2 of these.
Wait. Are they not called pennies anymore?? I remember Y2K but I never heard of this Cheerios campaign that year.
most people call them pennies but the US never made a penny they have the word cent on them for a good reason which Ill talk about in another video
