    Thanks again for continuing to create these very instructive videos. In particular, I have viewed this video several times hoping to incorporate your many useful remarks into my casting. There is a lot of very well presented substance here.

    I had thought that improving my fly casting meant greater distance and greater accuracy, pretty much just for the sake of reaching more fish. This video brought it all together now that I see how it affects the fly presentation. It's like a light goes on with every one of your videos! Thank you so much for doing them. And that offhand comment about losing your hair during a fly tying accident? That deserves a video by itself!

      Hi Stephen, open one door and there are ten others behind it!! We can add all the presentation casts to the roll cast family.
      I really look at four disciplines to train: Accuracy, Distance, Speys and Presentation Casts. I’m enjoying going through this in more detail. I hope not to lose beginners in the process 😆
      I was surprised the hair came back. Apparently I am a Yeti!
      Cheers, Paul

    Paul just watched this vid , as already mentioned i can see the benefit from both the pull back and full thrust techniques , just got to give it a go and get them trained into my muscle memory now , you are a great help and much appreciated , all the best , David.

      Hi David, throwing at targets, fly first, fly and line together, rod tip to fly is one of my favourite exercises to practise and teach. It’s a nice contrast. There are some adjustments to the backcast and minor adjustments to line length but it’s a great tool. Ultimately it shifts to the back of the mind and “just happens”, which is what we want of course. 😎 Cheers, Paul

    Hi Paul,
    Thank you for your videos.
    It's always fun and inspiring to see you teach.
    And the idea of "simply sending a wave down the line" for teaching the roll cast to beginners is great!
    Thanks and best wishes from Germany // Juergen

      Thanks Juergen! Yes as soon as Brian showed me what he was doing there when I visited him, I started using it too. It’s a very much better way of teaching the Roll Cast. 😎

    Looks my FFF certificate instructor didn’t know other form than the stop form, the paint brush analogy … 😮perhaps they never knew if they really ever stop 😅
    or telling beginners calling a good cast to good loops instead of constant wave control before talking about sexy loops 🙂
    I think my generation start at the top of the pyramid, chasing the sexiest loops we possibly can under a hard stop form
    I’m glad you talking about waves and different stops, and also, your less favorite is the stop
    Thank you for sharing Paul

    Paul , just noticed you do a slight haul with these three casts , i know you mention you do not have to as it isnt beneficial but would it be in these casts do you think. David.

      I think I pretty much haul on everything Dave unless I consciously decide not to!

    Hi Paul - great video. I’m going to try both techniques with the 2 hander tomorrow. What are your thoughts about hauling during the single hand roll cast?

    • @SexyloopsTV
      @SexyloopsTV  24 дня назад +2

      @@RonScottsalar static roll it doesn’t make much difference for me unless the line is a short head. Dynamic roll it makes a very significant difference. I’ve played with Double Hauling vs Single Hauling too (for distance) and find that single hauling goes further for me (5 or 6”) with the dynamic roll. I assume this has to do with slight loss of l tension in the D loop when returning the hand.
      Pullback with a DHD might cause too many shock waves. I have used it with stiff T38s and it has been beneficial sometimes.

    Hi Paul, your videos have been so helpful for me. Since I follow you went from bad cast to 25m casts without tangles and I m pretty happy :) I m now trying the 170 on grass. For the roll cast I have a question, should I increase the sroke lenght when I increase the distance like in a normal overhead or I should keep the same stroke just lenght and just add power? thanx in advance, greetings form Italy

    • @SexyloopsTV
      @SexyloopsTV  24 дня назад +1

      Hi Zen, yes is the short answer. In fact the roll cast is a very good example of \\\\/ rod butt rotation. I often use the dynamic roll cast to teach this motion for distance casting. This \\\\ movement is called “drag” and is key to tight loop roll casts.
      And great!! Well done 😎
      Cheers, Paul
