More like 10 episodes. The 10th episode was just the conclusion. You can see hints at mana suppressing when Frieren was drawing a circle around Fern in episode 2 - teaching her the mana cannot go out of this circle.
When I saw Frieren being a gangsta, without screaming while running to the enemy, wining with her wits and strategy, I remembered how they write the elf Galadriel, for Rings Of Power. And then I kneel and I cried.
9:00 In this world Magic is just another natural phenomenon that can be understood and described like other natural forces, which makes it definable and describable by the scientific method. That's how Zoltraak was analyzed after all.
I see it more of a 'can't do it perpetually', because it would literally lower their social status to a weakling, which would subject them to harsh treatment.
Flamme says as much, they conceal their mana for stealth, but reveal themselves when they find a mage because to them skill with magic has a similar role in society as wealth does in human societies. A demon forever hiding their mana is the equivalent of a king hiding his status and living the life of a beggar.
Yeah... I get that their very different than the West in the idea of fair use, but I'm more upset at the inconsistency I see in enforcement/application... Oh well.
The music after Frieren releases her nana and it’s showing the shadows of Frieren and her master talking with the clothes breezing in then background……Jesus Christ man
@@TheGenreVerse The real MVP of that scene was Aura's VA with the flawless transition of the affliction in her voice going from smug and in control, to doubting and blustering to reassure herself and to finally realising how utterly screwed she was.
they spent an entire episode building up to that one scene at the end
and we all know it was worth it
And now that one scene is meme da lot

Yes Anime of the year :) for me anyway doesn't matter if it gets nominated.
That.... WAS.... BRUTAL!
💯
and here we go again...
12:30 I think all of this "can't" control their mana is really "don't want to" or "won't". Obviously they CAN for stealth.
It's a cultural thing if you will...

Totally agree. This episode is the best.
Now that I control you "take your own life" Holy shit that scene is powerful.
Insanity! Perfection!
I guess they can afford to be anally restrictive on they're copyrights when they have the Number Two Ranked Anime of All Time (according to MAL).

Magnitude. Understated. Perfect tension.
I like "Unmatched" thanks for watching and commenting!
