The "I'm out!" line is rightfully legend, but I think Jerry's line of "You? You'll be out before we get the check!" deserves a very close second. Sets up the Kramer line perfectly.
I love when Jerry is singing "the wheels on the bus" and Kramer starts singing "the woman has nothing on, nothing on" to the same tune is comedy gold..... GOLD I tells ya.
Possibly, most likely, the best single sitcom episode ever. So many classic lines. "not every day." And the I'm out moment was brilliance, not just the delivery but the stance. Genius.
I remember seeing this on a Wednesday as I had a 10 foot satellite dish back in the day I could see it before it aired nationally on a back haul. Told all my coworkers to not miss it on Thursday because it was that spectacular. We all were quoting it the next day. Good times🍺
“Treating your body like an amusement park!”- one of the best lines of the show. Estelle was none of the best casting decisions on the show. I loved seeing George’s parents argue it was always a good laugh
"treating your body like an amusement park" has far and away for years now been my favorite euphamism to describe masturbating, I've probably done it in at least a few other youtube comments lol (* btw with "it", I mean actually masturbating, not talking about describing masturbating)
"The Contest" was one of my favorite episodes. Thought it was amazing they did the entire episode without saying the "M" word. Definitely a stand out episode in my opinion.
I recall back then I played hockey every Thursday, so I would record on vcr. Once word got out about this episode, everyone wanted to see it. So I had the tape and kept lending out or people would come over to watch.
What was also genius about this episode was that they left the viewer not knowing who actually won. They saved it to come out in the *hand model* episode of all things -- perfect! But the genius went even further when we found out in the very last episode that George (naturally) had lied in order to win. Jerry had actually won, but we didn't find out until the very end. That's Mozart/Einstein/Newton level comedy writing!
I don't think it's possible to name a best episode when it comes to Seinfeld there were so many memorable ones but I think the edgiest one that comes close to this one would be the "Dentist" and the use of the word "anti-dentite". Seinfeld succeeded where so many top comedians couldn't.
The Rye is up there. The Beefareeno, Rusty farting, Jerry manhandling an old lady and of course John Jermaine can’t blow his sax after oral sex with Elaine hahaha
Yes @WalterDiamond, “you’ll be out before we get the check” is an epic line, indeed, because it masterfully put the image in our heads of Kramer knocking it out right there at the booth. And THAT is hilarious!!!
Jerry: “we did it in a white glove way” Michael: “it was touching a subject” Jason: “it was in your face” … come on guys you’re not even trying here lol
Jason isn't a writer lol. He's also not a very intelligent person. But he is a fantastic actor and Seinfeld wouldn't have worked without him. If you watch all these interviews, a common thread is that Jason's instincts are consistently wrong regarding what kind of episodes work and what kind don't work. He's out of touch with the public because he exists in a different world. He's a classically trained actor.
Every adolescent boys worst nightmare: getting caught wackin' it by your mom. Except it happens to poor George in adulthood. Absolutely hysterical !! 😆🤣
There's a story that Ricky Gervais once told, but I can't remember if he was talking about himself, or someone else that he knew this happened to. That the kid beating off was doing it with his door closed (but not locked) and his headphones on, in a chair with its back to the door. After he was finished, he turned around and saw that his mother had come into the room and put down I think a tray of food it was behind him and then left without ever saying anything. So he didn't suffer the horror of seeing her seeing him, but he knew about it definitely happening after the fact, that somehow maybe seems even worse.
Watching this makes me wonder how many other funny/brilliant ideas have never seen the light of day because the creator thought people wouldn’t enjoy it.
The way Estelle just keeps twisting and turning it and not letting it go is so damn funny. I am so loosing it when I hear her just making it so wonderful uncomfortable. I would have died of shame if I was George.
I just want to write that my name is Josh and i want to write that Seinfeld is my favorite half hour sitcom. I want to write that reruns of Seinfeld came to the Comedy Central channel in October 2021.
Jerry even today doesn’t use that word. He’s very hygienic comedian if you want to call him that. No vulgarity and simple daily chores and turns them to extremely funny
That was a genius decision not to mention the word in the episode. I see a lot of people giving much more credit to Larry David for the geniuses of the show, but I must disagree. Otherwise it wouldn't be called Seinfeld.
One facet that isn't mentioned often is the portrayal of how men (some anyway) get irritatable when they go without having an orgasm for too long, self induced or otherwise.
The discretion obviously made it a lot funnier. One of the absolute top episodes.
"I found myself staring at a horses ass" Larry David
“I’m out.” One of Richards’ finest moments. He couldn’t have played that more perfectly.
Well-said!
I thought his finest moment was the comedy club
@@coltino99 says more about you than him
@@17Slugger takes a racist to know a racist. Except you only think I’m a racist.
The hardest i laughed

Why George why? Because it’s there!
Sad Michael said a racist thing
This will go down in tv history as one of the best episodes of television
I shave my legs
"Not every day" unreal line reading
It’s even funnier bc he says it with his mouth full.
That's always been my favorite line from The Contest.
I love when Jerry is singing "the wheels on the bus" and Kramer starts singing "the woman has nothing on, nothing on" to the same tune is comedy gold..... GOLD I tells ya.
Estelle Harris was so great in this one, and it was her first appearance.
She was! Thanks for the comments Tommy!
I caught my son abuuuusing himself like an amuuuusement park 🤣 I can’t even ...
So true! She was perfect in this role. That voice.
“Too bad you can’t do that for a living You could be a big star. Thousands of people will come watch you. You could sell out Madison Square Guarden”
sriramkuravi still one of the best lines in TV history
Possibly, most likely, the best single sitcom episode ever. So many classic lines. "not every day." And the I'm out moment was brilliance, not just the delivery but the stance. Genius.

That one and the assman episode too :)
“Treating your body like an amusement park!”- one of the best lines of the show. Estelle was none of the best casting decisions on the show. I loved seeing George’s parents argue it was always a good laugh
that is my favorite line of the whole series...!
After seeing George's parents, I realized why George was the way he was. Perfect casting.
"This is all well and good, but I'm still bald" never fails to make me laugh... Larry David is one of a kind!
Lmao that killed me
One of the great episodes of comedy of all time
The contest is one of the most funniest episodes ever produced maaaan this show
"treating your body like an amusement park" has far and away for years now been my favorite euphamism to describe masturbating, I've probably done it in at least a few other youtube comments lol

What killed me when each one lost and went out they were all sleeping like babies afterwards.😂🤣
George's dinosaur sheets put me over the top.
An all-time classic episode. Pure genius.
The greatest ep they ever did. VERY few have come close but this one had the best laughs and the cleverest dialog.
One of my Favs too!
I'd put the outing episode up there too.
I don't think it's possible to name a best episode when it comes to Seinfeld there were so many memorable ones but I think the edgiest one that comes close to this one would be the "Dentist" and the use of the word "anti-dentite". Seinfeld succeeded where so many top comedians couldn't.

I still cannot believe this episode went on to win a fucking Emmy that takes some genuis
The way Elaine says John F Kennedy Junyaaaaah @ 4:23 😂
Yes @WalterDiamond, “you’ll be out before we get the check” is an epic line, indeed, because it masterfully put the image in our heads of Kramer knocking it out right there at the booth. And THAT is hilarious!!!
Or as Bill Burr would say, rubbing
More funny than ‘I’m out’ to me is Kramer purposefully going back to his apartment shaking his finger and muttering ‘yeah. yeah’
"The intertwining of storylines." Seinfeld was the GOAT at that and it doesn't come close
Jerry: “we did it in a white glove way”
Michael: “it was touching a subject”
Jason: “it was in your face”
… come on guys you’re not even trying here lol

This single episode is one of the greatest in television history!
Greatest single sitcom episode....EVER!!! Pure Gold!!!
Seriously, they look like they had a lot of fun shooting that ep.
For sure! I'd love to see a reunion or reboot! Even that mock reunion they did on Curb Your Enthusiasm was awesome!
+PuhPow
Check out The Roundtable, it’s an actual reunion they did with the main cast and Larry.
The Abstinence episode is right there with The Contest.
The perfect compliment! I love both episodes.
Every adolescent boys worst nightmare: getting caught wackin' it by your mom. Except it happens to poor George in adulthood. Absolutely hysterical !! 😆🤣
Funny thing was this really happened to me but with my sisters glamour magazine. When i was a teen .
There's a story that Ricky Gervais once told, but I can't remember if he was talking about himself, or someone else that he knew this happened to. That the kid beating off was doing it with his door closed (but not locked) and his headphones on, in a chair with its back to the door. That ending, that was the funniest part of this.
"This is all well and good but... I'm still bald." haha 😂
Lmao that killed me, I wish I was bald just so I can use that line
Michael Richards: “That was touching a subject that needed to be (Richards’ brain: “TOUCHED!”) … made fun of.”
Watching this makes me wonder how many other funny/brilliant ideas have never seen the light of day because the creator thought people wouldn’t enjoy it.
I'd argue Larry and Jerry maintaining final control of what ideas go in is what kept the style so consistent.
Every guy knows that Cosmo is the far superior magazine for doing "that"
That’s true but Frank and Estelle aren’t likely to have Cosmo on their coffee table.
This was the episode that finally launched the show into high ratings.
"I shave my legs!" "Not every day!"
This could only have come from the mad, genius mind of Larry David.
His slightly twisted view of the world makes the laughs that much harder.
I STILL laugh til I cry watching this episode.
Probably the greatest show ever on tv! Great writing, great cast, funniest ideas!
"Too bad you can't do THAT for a living"
Fast-forward 20 years to the rise of OF 🤣
I can't watch Larry David do anything in real life without thinking it's an episode of Curb.
Elaine: “I shave my legs!”
Kramer: “Not every day.”
Us: Hahahahahhahahahaha
"The woman across the street has nothing on" sung to the tune of The wheels of the bust go round and round...LOL
I've only seen this once, when it originally aired, but it's still my favourite episode.
2020 In Quarantine and this show still gives me deep, massive belly laughs!!
That's really true.....I completed watching all the episodes a couple of weeks back.....its the best series I have ever seen.
Bless you!
Seinfeld is soooo funny ANDDD it’s a sitcom
That episode is absolute perfection!
The way Estelle just keeps twisting and turning it and not letting it go is so damn funny. I am so loosing it when I hear her just making it so wonderful uncomfortable. I would have died of shame if I was George.
4:07 - He just delivers that line perfect
his voice reminds me of a very tasty milkshake if that makes any sense
The Kenny Kramer bit at the end pahahahahhaha
I like how Larry shakes Jerry's hand like he doesn't know him.
I noticed that. Distracted I guess
When?
@@billblaski9523 at the 8:46 mark.
Glamour? When George say Glamour, they were all shocked. The funny reaction of Kramer.😂
It’s not outrageous. It’s awesome. We all knew. The fact that it’s not described makes it better. Glamor magazine 🤣
I just want to write that my name is Josh and i want to write that Seinfeld is my favorite half hour sitcom. I want to write that reruns of Seinfeld came to the Comedy Central channel in October 2021.
I WANT THAT BRASS ARRANGEMENT OF THE THEME
OMG THAT SAXAPHONE RIFF I MISSED IT THE FIRST TIME
thank you for uploading this
My pleasure, thanks for the comment!
This and the George's poop incident were the two best ones.
2:53 Kramer says, "That was touching a subject that needed to be.... made fun of."

Thought he was going to say "touched".
9:21 she looks so beautiful

Its coming to Netflix and some people will see this episode for the first time! Can't wait for those people😁😁
I have seen it first time yesterday and watched 3 times..
Seinfeld was the best they are like family, you can always enjoy yourself being with them. Love Jerry but Larry David is a comedic genius
i always enjoy myself a lot when im with them 8 )
Just brilliant. Timeless.
I fuckin love this show
“This is .. all very well and good but i’m still bald”
Classic Larry
George sold it
the fact they never mention what it's about makes it much much funnier!
Kenny kramer so resembes cosmos
@9:21 Look at Julia!!!!
I think this is my favorite 💕
They did a fabulous job 🙂
The glamor magazine, haha.
Funny thing is this happened to me when I was younger . With my sisters glamour magazine. Long before George had the urge .
We’ve all had dumb ass bets with our friends over the years. It’s great
Let's give Kramer 5 million and jeryy 800 million
"George!!! What are you doing?!"
Lmao..."too bad you can't do that for a living". 😆 This is why George is nuts...his parents...she's hungry so George threw tic tacs at her..lol..

the real Kramer's impresson of Larry David though
Best show ever.
One of the top 3 sitcoms of all time. All in the Family, Seinfeld, and Friends.
2:56 touching a subject..
3:01 it was in your face..
This is the only episode that I can think of that mentions Mrs. Costanza having a job.
Look up Seinfeld babies. Even the Muppets reference the contest episode
I’m surprised there’s no footage of bloopers
hahahaha i had never seen this acceptance speech: “this is all very well and good, but i’m still bald”
I just watch this episode again today on Netflix hilarious
This group is just a meeting of genuises 😀 I love them! They will never not be funny
Complete Brilliance (along with 'The Panty Remark').
"Glamour!?" Hahaha!
"i was alone..."
5:35 I feel like as far as Kramer is concerned - he won
It’s a touchy subject
Funniest 30 minutes of television ever.
My most favorite episode! :D
