The tip about dropping hellbombs outside detectors is my favorite yet so far, I call em Free Real Estates ever since. Mine 1.4 FotM for bots-9: Crossbow, Senator, Stun; Spear, OLaser, Eagle Air, 380 or Eagle Smoke if the planet doesn't have fog and it's a daytime. After what you've shown, the main skill here is to not crash to game with the Spear honestly XD

I would love to see you use a full stealth and mobility loadout against the bots. AMR, Jump Pack, Xbow, Peacemaker/Verdict, Throwing Knives, scout armor perk. Not the greatest against the bigger stuff, but you can usually leave those to your stratagems since you won’t get into fights with too many of them. Oh, and I’d say bring the 110mm rocket and eagle smoke. Smoke is extremely useful for concealing hellbombs and disengaging, and 110s will conveniently delete any problematic tanks, turrets, and fabricators. Airstrike also works, but I find 110s to be more consistent with taking out turrets, including those on top of striders. Great video! It always makes my day when you upload!

I love these style of videos, I find myself coming to these videos not for the gameplay, but the commentary, which is a good thing in the long run :) P.S. over 10 years, I found that many twitch chats eventually devolve into emote spam when they get big enough, which is overall fine when its inside jokes and whatnot, but it gets particularly bad when streamers laugh more at quick jokes and promote a chat that just makes fun of the streamer in attempt to get a quick laugh. It's really good to promote discussion, take a look at Vinesauce's vods, and you can see they try to bring up discussion points during the start of the stream and when switching games, and even a lot of times bringing up discussion during slow/uneventful periods of gameplay, even having community based streams where they bring up various fan artwork :D

I try my best to keep things balanced between laughs and meaningful talks. As for how to create a positive community. Accept that there will be sour people from time to time, and try and guide yourself to just allow to be disappointed by that and move on. Dont linger on it, you cannot control what others do, you can NEVER make a 100% safe and posstive community. But trying will always atract more likeminded people, so you can come very close.

Another excellent video. Love your calm demeanor throughout what could easily have been 30 minutes of chaos. I don't have a specific build request, but rather I'd like to see your take on a beginner soloist build. I'm about 30/70 on being able to clear and extract level six solo missions. I always have a hard time deciding which gear to use, I love at least half of the selections, but don't always end up with good synergy with my choices. Could you design a build that covers most needs for the upper level missions? Since we can unlock every item in the game, for free, using level one trivial medal and super credit grind I think every item in the game should be eligible for this build. But the gear should be suitable for lesser skilled/experienced players, so "ease of use" might be more important than "S-Tier Gear (in the hands of an S-Tier Player)" :)

Feedback: The quiz doesn't feel all that great when the answers are unpredictable without having watched the whole video first, leaving it all to guesswork isn't good. Better way to do it is have the questions be related to game mechanics or judgement calls, then use the answer to segway into a tip or reflection. Loadout idea: Fresh recruit. Default helldiver armor, standard liberator, peacemaker pistol, and standard HE grenade. Stratagems are the mg43 machine gun and orbital precision strike, no other stratagems and no booster. Your choice of either bots or bugs. Show the brand new helldivers what they can accomplish straight from the tutorial.
It's not really a Pop quiz as we remember from school. Quizzing us on content. That's not fun for me. Using 'Pop quiz' to play a little guessing game about what's about to happen is fun for me. I suggest you look at it with a different point of view and judge again. As a test of covered material (I don't want a test in a video) this is not great but as a fun little guessing game, it is spot on. Please check again I think you'll change your mind with this pov

So I've got a challenge that I'm not gonna request but I'm just gonna put out there. The build doesn't matter except for 3 things. Throwing knives, grenade pistol, and supply pack. The challenge is you can only use your supply pack, resupply, and objective stratagems. You can only use throwing knives to kill things and you can only use the grenade pistol to take out fabricators. Note: this means grenade pistol cant be used for the terminate illegal broadcast obj. The goal? Clear the full map in helldive. This challenge is meant to be rather unrealistic, but personally it is something I plan on completing at some point, it will just require A LOT of practice

@@PhacilGaming gonna add a little tip that I learned last night, the throwing knives are gonna be more accurate when using the servo assisted armor, which means it'll be easier to take out bots but ya have to be extra careful not to be spotted while doing so
4:29 - counterpoint: what if I think it's best specifically *because* I enjoy it so much :D Also I'm not sure its specifically commissars, I think other chaff can also call bot drops.
It's a decent counterpoint, unfortunately I don't think it works rationally 🫣. The reason is because normally when subjective terms like "best" are used, they describe how well something is in comparison to it's peers. We can have gigantic debates about what peers are but the short version is normally: "if I had brought it's competitor in this situation, would that have been an easier experience for me, and therefore better". Honestly I think it's a silly debate though, which I probably say because I'm used to approaching things scientifically. Long story short, there's way too many factors to account for to be able to say: "In comparison to this gun, that gun is bad (or good)". To name a few: - Personal preference (I don't like assault rifles for example, so getting good at them takes me longer than it would someone else so therefore in many situations where I consider them bad others might say they're amazing); - Environmental factors (like the Sickle being amazing on this cold planet, but arguably my experience would have been awful on a hot planet where many other guns don't suffer from this effect. So therefore, is the Sickle better or worse than it's competitors is a hard question); - Team composition (I narrate my runs realizing it's a solo perspective, many of my tips I try to make as generic as possible. Basically pretending you're "soloing" while in a group. Naturally engaging certain objectives in a group is completely different. Not always easier, but definitely different. So does that make the gun you brought, which is good in a team, also good solo. Also another hard question). TL;DR I love that you bring what you enjoy so much, I'm right there with you. I don't think we are allowed to call those guns the best guns unfortunately though (would be nice 😁). I think you're right, sometimes I feel like it's a coding bug or even planet related though. When I stare at it I feel like there's missions where specifically only the Commisars do the call-ins, other times it just feels like all the other light infantry does as well. Definitely need to investigate this more, good call!
14:49 - I think the Eruptor is a great example of a snipey sniper under this philosophy. The RPM is very low for a primary, and the magazine size is likewise very small, meaning if your decisive shot misses, you've probably whiffed your opportunity. However, positioning with it is great, as it can oneshot anything smaller than a hulk and can also multi-oneshot chaff with the right placement, for example me getting 7 kills once with a single shot. So while not being quite the same as a conventional sniper in terms of mechanics, it is absolutely THE sniper weapon of helldivers. Maybe lean into a build revolving around hiding, finding a position, and decisively removing a target from existence, if you wanted? Orbital railcannon, quasar/EAT and something to deal with things going wrong might work.
I agree for me specifically, but I do have to nuance that I rarely run sentries so it's also just a big lack of experience on my behalf. With proper practice I believe sentries can be extremely potent. Just not in my hands right now haha!
For me specifically, very true! The nuance is probably that I run sentries very rarely so I poorly intuit when and how to use them. With practice I think sentries can be very powerful though!

I want to see some punisher gameplay on terminids. Not the plasma, just good ol' classic shotgun. Been running it with autocannon against terminids because god do i loathe shriekers with a burning, hate-filled passion. Also, i personally don't run eagle strategems because I know they're meta (rebellious heart) and have upgraded every other part of my ship before even getting the first eagle upgrade. I do it mostly to discover other options, which lead to me discovering how utterly silly Orbital Airburst is for mobbing, especially on bug breaches. Was curious if you had any insights on the orbital options as compared to eagles
Love the passion, definitely noted! Wrote it down, I have very little experience with the Punisher so should be alot of fun for me as well to get some practice in with it. I included the no-Eagles-only-Orbitals request. Thank you for the recommendation! Haha, I can imagine Shriekers being annoying. They feel extremely easy to me because I'm a big Breaker Incendiary fan. I'm pretty sure I'm joining you in the hate for them during my Punisher runs 🫣. Fair enough haha, if you enjoy reading there's a book called Rebel Talent by Francesca Gino. Big recommendation for how passionate you are in your convictions haha, hope you enjoy (if you're a reader)! I think Orbitals got a very big buff this last patch, which they were overdue for. Funnily enough I do run the Orbital Precision Strike quite often. Also the Orb. Gas is phenomenal against bugs and the Orb. EMS makes defending positions alot easier. The Airburst is insane if place on a bug breach (essentially nullifying it) so definitely agreed there! The 120 and 380 are extremely random, but I think that's the joy to some of them. I'll run them occasionally on Blitz missions, since it gives you the option of just throwing it into a Nest or Outpost and then moving on (and then you cross your fingers ofcourse). I have friends who are enjoying the Orb. Gatling alot since this last patch (1.000.400). The Orb. Railcannon strike I think is a solid option specifically for newer players, since it gives you a way out if you don't know what to do about heavy units pushing into you. The other Orbitals I have too little experience with to speak about I feel, but I'll definitely experiment more with them after this request. Thank you for taking the time to comment Ponytail!
@@PhacilGaming I appreciate the long post, dang. Probably won't be reading any books though unless they're in Japanese for quite a few years though. 学ぶとする (trying to learn). The reason I run the punisher is actually because I don't have the breaker incendiary, it's actually okay at dealing with shriekers, just requires patience that can be difficult to afford vs. bugs at times. Although, I think the punisher is a very safe weapon because it can stop brood commander chargers, shove away hive guards (then switch to autocannon and go pew pew), interrupts nursing spewer spit (and 2 taps them in the head!), etc. etc. It's definitely not as absolutely lethally efficient and easy to use as the breaker incendiary, but it's a very good option for letting you hold your ground. Given I tend to play in an almost suicidal manner, risking life to complete an objective then using an aoe strategem to clear a huge number of the things swarming me, I've found it gets me out of situations I had no right surviving. I guess for a player better at threat assessment and "stealth" (I consider spawn manipulation part of that) it will just allow you to play a little bit greedier and closer range than is normally comfortable vs. bugs. and thank you for the orbitals insight. I should probably revisit the orbital gatling barrage again. Never found good use out of the EMS, it always felt rather gimmicky to me outside of the Dark Fluid mission. I should warn you, don't run gas in the new jungle biome. I cannot tell you how many times it's ended a tree instead of the bugs. Very upsetting occurrence. Also, honestly, I've found orbital railcannon to be *extremely* cheesey when paired with Localization confusion vs. bots. It's timed that if you start to learn the timing to have it kill dropships, you will pretty much only have to deal with half of the reinforcement calls in low-player lobbies. I don't think it's worth the booster slot solo, frankly, but when doing or trio-ing with my friends like I often do it makes missions downright peaceful
No worries, I do my best. Fair enough haha, learning a language is enough time investment! I think the Punisher is an amazing shotgun to be honest, I believe it's referred to as the "actual" sniper rifle in the game. So for someone like me who enjoys sniping, it fits me very well. The stagger is great (I believe it used to be even better, not sure what it was they nerfed). And the damage is, at least, alright. I try to do as little as I can, so our playstyles vary there haha, but I do enjoy watching patriotic kamikaze Helldivers 🫡. Orbitals got a very good buff this last patch, which was well overdue. I'm sure we'll be seeing alot more of both Eagles and Orbitals now that they've been brought up a bit. I think the Orbital EMS can be very good, if used like a large-stun-grenade. I need to get used to the fact it has such a low cooldown, so treating it like a nade more than a stratagem if you will. It made soloing the Dark Fluid mission a joke so it definitely served it's purpose there like you said! Your warning is a bit too late, I found out the jungle biome trees basically side with the enemy! I think the Orbital Railcannon Strike will always be an easy to use, good and effective though not optimal stratagem. Which is great to have in the game. Glad it works for you and your friends' strategies!

I've not used the Tenderizer enough to have a strong opinion on it. It felt alright, need more experience with it post patch though. On a cold planet, the Sickle is probably better you'd think. Else the Sickle simply has no place. That's my best guess 😃

As for how to create a positive community. Accept that there will be sour people from time to time, and try and guide yourself to just allow to be disappointed by that and move on. Dont linger on it, you cannot control what others do, you can NEVER make a 100% safe and posstive community. But trying will always atract more likeminded people, so you can come very close.

Another excellent video. Love your calm demeanor throughout what could easily have been 30 minutes of chaos. I don't have a specific build request, but rather I'd like to see your take on a beginner soloist build. I'm about 30/70 on being able to clear and extract level six solo missions. I always have a hard time deciding which gear to use, I love at least half of the selections, but don't always end up with good synergy with my choices. Could you design a build that covers most needs for the upper level missions? Since we can unlock every item in the game, for free, using level one trivial medal and super credit grind I think every item in the game should be eligible for this build. But the gear should be suitable for lesser skilled/experienced players, so "ease of use" might be more important than "S-Tier Gear (in the hands of an S-Tier Player)" :)

Feedback: The quiz doesn't feel all that great when the answers are unpredictable without having watched the whole video first, leaving it all to guesswork isn't good. Better way to do it is have the questions be related to game mechanics or judgement calls, then use the answer to segway into a tip or reflection.
Loadout idea: Fresh recruit. Default helldiver armor, standard liberator, peacemaker pistol, and standard HE grenade. Stratagems are the mg43 machine gun and orbital precision strike, no other stratagems and no booster. Your choice of either bots or bugs.
Show the brand new helldivers what they can accomplish straight from the tutorial.
It's not really a Pop quiz as we remember from school. Quizzing us on content. That's not fun for me. Using 'Pop quiz' to play a little guessing game about what's about to happen is fun for me. I suggest you look at it with a different point of view and judge again. So I've got a challenge that I'm not gonna request but I'm just gonna put out there. The build doesn't matter except for 3 things. Throwing knives, grenade pistol, and supply pack. The challenge is you can only use your supply pack, resupply, and objective stratagems. You can only use throwing knives to kill things and you can only use the grenade pistol to take out fabricators. Note: this means grenade pistol cant be used for the terminate illegal broadcast obj. The goal? Clear the full map in helldive. This challenge is meant to be rather unrealistic, but personally it is something I plan on completing at some point, it will just require A LOT of practice

It's a decent counterpoint, unfortunately I don't think it works rationally 🫣. The reason is because normally when subjective terms like "best" are used, they describe how well something is in comparison to it's peers. We can have gigantic debates about what peers are but the short version is normally: "if I had brought it's competitor in this situation, would that have been an easier experience for me, and therefore better". Honestly I think it's a silly debate though, which I probably say because I'm used to approaching things scientifically. Long story short, there's way too many factors to account for to be able to say: "In comparison to this gun, that gun is bad (or good)". To name a few:
- Personal preference (I don't like assault rifles for example, so getting good at them takes me longer than it would someone else so therefore in many situations where I consider them bad others might say they're amazing);
- Environmental factors (like the Sickle being amazing on this cold planet, but arguably my experience would have been awful on a hot planet where many other guns don't suffer from this effect. So therefore, is the Sickle better or worse than it's competitors is a hard question);
- Team composition (I narrate my runs realizing it's a solo perspective, many of my tips I try to make as generic as possible. Basically pretending you're "soloing" while in a group. Naturally engaging certain objectives in a group is completely different. Not always easier, but definitely different. So does that make the gun you brought, which is good in a team, also good solo. Also another hard question).
TL;DR I love that you bring what you enjoy so much, I'm right there with you. I don't think we are allowed to call those guns the best guns unfortunately though (would be nice 😁).
I think you're right, sometimes I feel like it's a coding bug or even planet related though. When I stare at it I feel like there's missions where specifically only the Commisars do the call-ins, other times it just feels like all the other light infantry does as well. Definitely need to investigate this more, good call!
14:49 - I think the Eruptor is a great example of a snipey sniper under this philosophy. The RPM is very low for a primary, and the magazine size is likewise very small, meaning if your decisive shot misses, you've probably whiffed your opportunity. However, positioning with it is great, as it can oneshot anything smaller than a hulk and can also multi-oneshot chaff with the right placement, for example me getting 7 kills once with a single shot. So while not being quite the same as a conventional sniper in terms of mechanics, it is absolutely THE sniper weapon of helldivers. Maybe lean into a build revolving around hiding, finding a position, and decisively removing a target from existence, if you wanted? Orbital railcannon, quasar/EAT and something to deal with things going wrong might work.
I agree for me specifically, but I do have to nuance that I rarely run sentries so it's also just a big lack of experience on my behalf. With proper practice I believe sentries can be extremely potent. Just not in my hands right now haha!
I feel like changing ems to Gatling barrage or precision strike could improve the gameplay drastically.
For me specifically, very true! The nuance is probably that I run sentries very rarely so I poorly intuit when and how to use them. With practice I think sentries can be very powerful though!

I want to see some punisher gameplay on terminids. Not the plasma, just good ol' classic shotgun.
Been running it with autocannon against terminids because god do i loathe shriekers with a burning, hate-filled passion.
Also, i personally don't run eagle strategems because I know they're meta (rebellious heart) and have upgraded every other part of my ship before even getting the first eagle upgrade. I do it mostly to discover other options, which lead to me discovering how utterly silly Orbital Airburst is for mobbing, especially on bug breaches. Was curious if you had any insights on the orbital options as compared to eagles

I think Orbitals got a very big buff this last patch, which they were overdue for. Funnily enough I do run the Orbital Precision Strike quite often. Also the Orb. Gas is phenomenal against bugs and the Orb. EMS makes defending positions alot easier. The Airburst is insane if place on a bug breach (essentially nullifying it) so definitely agreed there! The 120 and 380 are extremely random, but I think that's the joy to some of them. I'll run them occasionally on Blitz missions, since it gives you the option of just throwing it into a Nest or Outpost and then moving on (and then you cross your fingers ofcourse). I have friends who are enjoying the Orb. Gatling alot since this last patch (1.000.400). The Orb. Railcannon strike I think is a solid option specifically for newer players, since it gives you a way out if you don't know what to do about heavy units pushing into you. The other Orbitals I have too little experience with to speak about I feel, but I'll definitely experiment more with them after this request. Thank you for taking the time to comment Ponytail!

The reason I run the punisher is actually because I don't have the breaker incendiary, it's actually okay at dealing with shriekers, just requires patience that can be difficult to afford vs. bugs at times. Although, I think the punisher is a very safe weapon because it can stop brood commander chargers, shove away hive guards (then switch to autocannon and go pew pew), interrupts nursing spewer spit (and 2 taps them in the head!), etc. etc. It's definitely not as absolutely lethally efficient and easy to use as the breaker incendiary, but it's a very good option for letting you hold your ground. Given I tend to play in an almost suicidal manner, risking life to complete an objective then using an aoe strategem to clear a huge number of the things swarming me, I've found it gets me out of situations I had no right surviving. I guess for a player better at threat assessment and "stealth" (I consider spawn manipulation part of that) it will just allow you to play a little bit greedier and closer range than is normally comfortable vs. bugs.
and thank you for the orbitals insight. I should probably revisit the orbital gatling barrage again. Never found good use out of the EMS, it always felt rather gimmicky to me outside of the Dark Fluid mission.
I should warn you, don't run gas in the new jungle biome. I cannot tell you how many times it's ended a tree instead of the bugs. Very upsetting occurrence.
Also, honestly, I've found orbital railcannon to be *extremely* cheesey when paired with Localization confusion vs. bots. It's timed that if you start to learn the timing to have it kill dropships, you will pretty much only have to deal with half of the reinforcement calls in low-player lobbies. I don't think it's worth the booster slot solo, frankly, but when doing or trio-ing with my friends like I often do it makes missions downright peaceful

I think the Punisher is an amazing shotgun to be honest, I believe it's referred to as the "actual" sniper rifle in the game. So for someone like me who enjoys sniping, it fits me very well. The stagger is great (I believe it used to be even better, not sure what it was they nerfed). And the damage is, at least, alright. I try to do as little as I can, so our playstyles vary there haha, but I do enjoy watching patriotic kamikaze Helldivers 🫡.
Orbitals got a very good buff this last patch, which was well overdue. I'm sure we'll be seeing alot more of both Eagles and Orbitals now that they've been brought up a bit. I think the Orbital EMS can be very good, if used like a large-stun-grenade. I need to get used to the fact it has such a low cooldown, so treating it like a nade more than a stratagem if you will. It made soloing the Dark Fluid mission a joke so it definitely served it's purpose there like you said!

I think the Orbital Railcannon Strike will always be an easy to use, good and effective though not optimal stratagem. Which is great to have in the game. Glad it works for you and your friends' strategies!

I've not used the Tenderizer enough to have a strong opinion on it. It felt alright, need more experience with it post patch though. On a cold planet, the Sickle is probably better you'd think. Else the Sickle simply has no place. That's my best guess 😃
