    There’s no reason to use it over the AMR vs bots imo - no long range scope, significantly less ammo, slower fire rate, and worse at dealing with factory striders and gunships. The only advantage it has over the AMR is that it can one shot hulks in the head (as opposed to two shots from the AMR).

      Not to mention the risk of not only killing yourself with it if you're trying to maximize it's output, but you're then left without a support weapon when you respawn. It never should have been nerfed in the first place.

      Some people seem to really like it for the Hulks. Once you master the AC or AMR tho and run stun grenades, they really aren't hard to deal with.

      Imo the red sights is incredibly unreliable to hit with AMR and it seems to be a no-brainer with the railgun, watching these shots hip-fired.

      I get the logic, but bots are operating locally, your stratagems are blocked from orbit by the ionosphere, bots are throwing up a flare that is perceived to be line-of-sight and locally seen.. but also if that is the case, they shouldn't be able to do that in the middle of a blizzard or sandstorm.

      Oh God, that's such a good idea since most other plant effects can also negatively affect enemies. Fire tornadoes can damage mobs, meteor showers can hit enemies, the blizzard can reduce the visibility for enemies too, tremors also seem to stun bots and bugs. But ion storms don't bring any risk-reward situation to the table. You just have to decide whether or not you can wait it out or push through with a temporary map-wide jammer.

      @@Roobotics exactly its more of just a 1+1 logic without going into the specifics. like say the ion storm blocks signals and whatever the flare system is in their head the ion storm is messing with just that little bit of their brain, ions in the air and what not.
      it would provide us an opportunity to attack but its a complete ground force effort but we all know they wont do it but it would just be a more interesting idea.

      It's kinda like in Arma 3, you have a stamina bar in that game aswell and if it's depleted or low, your aim is a total JOKE unless you manually compensate by moving around the sway.

      Ive noticed alot of streamers literally have 0 awareness of their stamina bar and just hold sprint the entire game.

    I just want the railgun to handle factory striders OR gunships. It doesn't need to be both (though I hope it is both since its a single target weapon with a high risk use). For example: Say it kills factory striders really well but sucks against gunships? Bring the Plas-1 Scorcher as your primary to kill gunships. Say it it kills gunships really well? Then Bring the Jar-5 to kill the factory striders! Like I would prefer it handle both (the AMR can kill hulks, factory striders and Gunships so I fail to see why the railgun can't either) but i'll SETTLE for AT LEAST letting me bring a primary to cover one of it's weaknesses. At the moment I pack the Jar-5 with the railgun and if I see a gunship tower, I need to fire a ton of shots into the gunships and hope for the best since I kill them so slowly.

      x 1.0 is not the worst problem. The real problem is that this dot has like 20 or 30 MOA. It's a huge dot on a precision weapon that sometimes blocks the target image at all.

      I wish they gave us a better weapon. The railgun should just be a primary and it would just be a good one. Even pre-nerfs compared to what everything else is capable of now. Its just a fucking waste of a support weapon slot at this point and should be made a primary like the Stalwart should.

    it went from unfun to a space musket, playing the railgun with the revolver is just like shooting the dixies
    (the eagle strikes do hurt the turrets on top of the bunkers but i couldnt kill it alltogether with them, maybe im just bad tho)

      Dude you're conflating the revolutionary war and the wild west. There definitely were cowboys during the revolutionary War, but cartridge based guns, and this revolvers, were still like a hundred years out.

      Turrets require only AP4 (so AC/AMR/LC), bunker itself can be only destroyed by heaviest of weapons, like Precision Strike, 500kg or lucky 380mm barrage hit

      It's the only enemy in the game that feels genuinely unfair to me. It will hit you the second you pop out of cover with almost 100% accuracy sometimes, and that's not how you design AI that's fun and engaging.

      They did, it was multiple random headshots and now you can run heavy armor, padded even or med padded to counter this.

      @@h4xorzist The damage isn't the issue, the fact they have such insane accuracy and begin hitting you immediately out of cover makes them very unbalanced imo. What you're talking about was a good change for the armor but is not a nerf to shielded devastators design, which is what they need to implement imo

      @@RepublicofODLUM Well the way an inaccurate weapon works is that it will be quite accurate if close. You could change them to have less dmg but counterintuitively you would then have to make them more accurate, or they'd be a joke on longer range.
      I'd fully support if they increased the cooldown window a little or gave them a small spin-up window. But I got to say the maneuver done in the video was not ideal.
      Alternatively, a headshot dmg reduction across the board would be ok too.

      Like many bots, they are total RNG. They can be pretty useless if they miss or only hit a couple bodyshots, but can also instakill you if they roll several headshots in a row. Problem is, with how rapidly they shoot, they get to roll for those odds _a lot_. So, like almost every other thing that feels bad, they would benefit a lot from player headshots just straight up being removed from the game.
      If not, they could at least use some additional form of counterplay. For example, their turn rate and tracking/gun traversal arc could be nerfed significantly, so you could actually run behind them and make meaningful use of their backpack weakpoint. Right now they turn on a dime and track perfectly, even at point blank range. You'd think you could run circles around something so slow and bulky but nope - They will literally glide-rotate on the spot and clip their gun through their own shield to shoot you.

    Sshh don't tell Arrowhead solo divers are still beating the maps by themselves. We must remain as a secret force of unidentifiable players.
    Seriously though, its crazy.
    I get to the evac site. Im thinking, I can call in a evac pelican. I get on the terminal to start the DDR but a patrol stops me. I go kill them and as I'm about to finish them up, another patrol comes into the evac site. So for seven minutes im having to deal with patrols wondering constantly into the evac area. As the remnants start forming a horde and it becomes a stalemate. Since I can kill them but because they patrols keep coming, I can't call in the pelican. However, the bots can't kill me but are constantly pooling into the evac site. It took the pelican coming down by itself for me to get the hell out of that firefight.
    The combination of increasing the patrol spawn on solo divers plus the increase of patrols spawning after completing the main objective. It makes either moving around the map a nightmare or holding the evac site for a indefinte amount of time either a possibility or more likely to happen.

      Had a game today where me and another guy did all the objectives with very few battles. Then managed to kill over 1500 bugs just outside of evacuation before we can get in

      The patrols are seriously messed up rn, you can barely cross 50-75m in game and come across upwards of 3 patrols in that time
      They dont feel like patrols anymore, just "group of enemies put where you are" and it both feels worse to play against and ruins some of the immersion in mission for me
      Just like dough said at the end of his first mission "is that two patrols holding hands?" And yes, yes it is
      What sucks is that this change is across all difficulties, so my newer to the game friends are having to deal with it too

    The railgun is awesome against hulks and devastators but it’s versatility is terrible. It needs to be buffed to be more versatile somehow. If you run into gunships you’re toast

      it was "fine" after the "minor patch" nerf but then the devs added the ATAT and gunships and utterly over-tuned them versus the rail, The rail should take out gunships in 2-3 shots, ATAT-gatlings in the same, but it's taking (??? no one has tested that i have seen) 7? maybe now vs gunships and at least that PER GATLING VS ATAT.
      Tanks have always been eagle/nade bait so i don't mind it being weak AF against those but a radiator hit (or 4-5) really should merc those things given it's 4-6 seconds per-shot and even non-AV weapons can take them out in under 6 seconds (on average) from the right angle.
      as-is the railgun is simply ineffective against the 3 things most likely to end a mission (gunship/ATAT/tower-turrets)

    You can mark some objectives on the map by pinging an objective with line of sight. Basically any obj with a tower, but not nests/spawn objs.
    They should probably gurantee spawn radar towers if they want to remove blind map pinging.
    Insteuctions unclear, took a walk, looked both ways for cars, got hit by a mobility scooter, head not clear.

    I’ve noticed that the scorcher is inconsistent with small bots too, sometimes taking 2 shots to kill but usually getting 1-tapped if I hit a headshot/neck shot. Maybe its little explosion needs to hit the weak point? That’s my personal theory at least.
    Even though it’s probably not optimal compared to AC I’m honestly looking forward to using the railgun for bots, that way I can take my friend’s backpacks when needed or even use it in my own riot shield build once the new smg comes out

      It feels like there's some kind of range drop-off going on. Close range usually one-shots all the chaff, medium range sometimes, long range usually never.

      afaik you need hit near the head to kill it with one shot, I suspect when they raise their gun their hand will prematurely trigger the shot and stop it from reach the head.

      not all small bots are created equal. Something or the other about slightly more armored small bots. You'll see it when you get grey hitmarkers on them (half damage) on the chest of some of them. Armored vest or something I think

      Yeah I dropped scorcher for Dillgence Counter on bots. The Scorcher only sometimes 1 shots the smaller bots, where the Counter 95% of the time does. Only slight downside is you can't shoot the front of striders and take the pilot out, but I usually run an auto cannon which deals with them easily.

      there are armored small bots and Scorcher has only Light pen and 100dmg splash, you might get deflection on light armor and splash isn't enough to kill them
      Jar/Slugger/Punisher Plasma/DCS are more reliable against them due to medium pen/higher splash damage

    I agree with what you said about people not okay with someone having observation, and for some reason if they didn't encounter it, they think the one that mention it is crazy and being hostile to them. Not sure if this just happen to this game, but I never encounter similar response before in another game.

    I think it would be cool if railgun had a faster charge time in safe mode, and a higher damage in unsafe mode.
    This should make safe mode a good option for mediums like devastators and brood commanders, and make unsafe usable for big enemies like tanks and BLTs.
    I want railgun to feel somewhere between autocannon and the anti tanks, along with having safe mode and unsafe both feel viable, and I feel my proposed changes do that.

      I kind of like this idea but I also don't really want to switch weapon modes in a mission, it's already annoying enough that your support weapon options don't get saved like you primaries.

    FYI: full clip of the scorcher into any of the back-ish areas on the cannon towers (where your grenade pistol would also damage it) will kill it.

    You would think your super destroyer would have a birds eye view with map intel they could share with the helldiver. Put in a permanent stratagem like resupply or reinforce with a cd that you can call in that pings objectives on the map for a short period so you can locate objectives.

    I think the rail gun should require double +1 shots over the anti-tank weapons on the big stuff. So 5 dome shots on bile titans. Maybe 6.

    3:36 Penetration does affect damage. (if your attack has above a threshold of surplus penetration, it will do full damage. At no surplus pen, the attack does 60% of its damage) Armor still reduces damage even if you penetrate it, but this reduction no longer applies if you have over a threshold of surplus penetration. This is indicated by red hitmarkers.

    Railgun really should be on par with the AC in terms of ammo use for gunship kills, 4 shots at most given the AC can 2-tap in less time than the rail can charge the first shot. that goes double for any mounted weapons (ATAT chin guns)

    Im having a blast with the railgun on bugs, particularly being able to one tap spewers and hive lords. I agree just a slight uptic in damage would go a long way though.

    The targets have areas that do more damage. So if you hit a limb for example, it will not be knocked out right away.

    The scorchers plasma has no penetration (trough bodies not AC) so if you hit an arm instead of the head or torso you will loose the impact dmg and the explosion dmg is not high enough to kill a light bot.
    This is why other weapons, even with less dmg like the counter sniper, suffer this issue much less.
    Or at least that's my hypothesis about it.
    I like to run railgun with the sickle on bot missions anyway and having at least a scope somewhere is useful even if it is just to aim a bit for a long-range railgun shot. The railgun is one of the best strider killers now anyway.

    The shots with the scorcher are inconsistent on raiders because of the explosion radius usually if it's one shotting it means there legs or head was caught in the explosion

    On "the drama". The "SOnY announcement" couldn't have bene more perfectly timed in terms of maximising the time the community has to mull over and complain rightfully and heartily about the 3 month in bait n switch as well as providing maximum possible impact in terms of people who would be willing to walk away.
    -There's still cross-platform friends and crash-issues.
    -that ricochet change feels like the devs actively trolling anyone not using a heavy-pen weapon as player-seeking-ricochets are the stuff of april 1st jokes not DLC mainline patch-updates.
    -the kernel-level anti-cheat ain't doing jack as i still see people running around with some insane things.
    -the core-crowd 100% the game 6+ weeks ago, the "casuals" who play with randoms probably a week or 3 ago and are looking for "next thing"
    -the solo/newbs/friend-duos/poor-connections/low-playtime-weekend-warriors just got hit HARD in their low level play. EVERY "this will affect high level" patch has turned medium/challenging into a god damned slog through no-mans-land as the 300 to the extent that suicidal is legit easier at this point as long as you can deal with the heavy-armour.
    Yeah, perfect timing there SOnY, you may have just turned game of the year into "the year's biggest disappointment", especially if the SOnY monitoring of chat/voice/game-stats/accounts results in their usual spate of random bans and the monetisation/SC-gain even FEELS like it's starting to go to shieet there will likely be a true mass-rebellion even beyond those who bought the game in non PSN areas.
    The new armours with old/boring passives aren't helping here, likewise the purely cosmetic caps/capes). I have "my look" at this point, not much is going to change it as taking off the anti-explosive gear is a hard-sell with how badly randoms and my friends aim with clusters, grenades and support weapons.

      -recochet change is not having player-seeking-ricochets. It's already been DEBUNKED by players AND THE DEVS, the eruptor though can have people die due to shrapnel bouncing, and they already are working to change that. Please don't spread misinformation.

      @@lupvirga Hmm, rocket and explosive can't come back on the player that what they said. BUT every kinetic weapon will kill you at close range if you shoot the heavy devastator shield ( or a tank). Ricochets are no joke.

      @@madkaris7224 Then don't shoot heavy armor with small arms at close distance, that should be obvious. Shrapnel ricocheting back at you from a devastator's shield 80m away is unfair though, but developers are aware of that and looking for a fix.

    I walk/jog at least 8 miles every other day to balance my mood and perception. Vital for any lifestyle. Makes that stupid artillery announcer slightly less horrible too. Speaking of such, they should just have him announce maybe 1/4th as much and add a danger-ping sound in-between instead.

      On that note, they really should do something like that for the orbital smoke strike as well. The effective radius of the current single-shot we have is very, very sad. It's legit worse than the smoke grenades, somehow.

      @@BackwardsPancake honestly, most orbitals are bad except the 380mm and 120mm barrages. the other ones give you less shots for a bigger cooldown than the eagles, which means the shot 'economy' is objectively worse. i can get in 5 cluster bombs for a cooldown of only 2 mins, but i can only get 1 airburst strike for the same cooldown? these stratagems are doing the exact same job: horde clear. yet the cluster bomb has a bigger radius and can be used way more than the airburst...

      @@Nitecookie only reason to bring orbitals is to not have multiple eagle strikes on the same cooldown, but even that is a minor downside.

    12:16 Yes, but you need to hit several. It takes two 500kgs, not 100% sure how many airstrikes.
    15:13 That has something to do with the secondary objective spawn changes in the last patch, I think.
    I have seen way more instances of 3 Stalker Lairs on bug Helldives too - And also Stalker Lairs which have two stalker-spawning holes, which I don't remember ever seeing before.
    Come to think of it, this is also kind of reflected with the bot objectives, since artillery emplacements can have anywhere between 1-3 guns.

    They should ramp the damage up much higher for the highest charges of the rail gun, it's so sad needing 10+ max charges into the back of turrets. Would also make it more of a risk/reward than risk/meh.

    they did hint there might be some secret bonuses to the newer sets i think. saw someone mention it…. somewhere, so grain of salt and all that. but at least one of the sets has crampons of the shoes, so it might at least stop the slight sliding on the ice, which isn’t really that bad in the first place. honestly, wouldn’t be surprised if people didn’t even realize it was there
    edit: for bots that don’t all die in the same amount of hits, sometimes the red bladed bots use their blades to block, so that might be it. i hate it when they do that, tho i’d be surprised if they were blocking the rail gun. can’t block the AMR as far as i’m aware
    edit 2: try the concussive liberator against the bots now. it’s not horrible 🤷‍♂️? pretty nice against berserkers, but still fires a bit slow. still not the best, and still has the “does less dmg” bit in the description, even tho it does more dmg than the base liberator, which is kinda funny

    Tried the railgun for the first time instead of the amr. It’s just worse it every way, the cross hair is ass, 1x zoom with dot to simulate one of those people who stared at the solar eclipse without the glasses and if you get flinched once say goodbye to the entire shot. I’d take the miss aligned amr scope over it any day.
    You need to wait for the shot to be ready so not quick reactions to opportunities you didn’t have time to prep for. But you can’t hold the shot very any meaningful amount of time but unlike a bow an arrow in most other games with similar shooting mechanics you can’t uncharge a shot so you have to waste the ammo and be loud as hell.
    From what I could tell the shots just disappear after a medium distance so you straight up can’t touch gun ships. It does fuck all damage to vents so it has no anti tank capabilities. It drains through ammo, the amr gets 21 shots a supply pack the railgun gets 10 but also the rail gun has to both reload and charge between every shot so its sucks vs striders and devastators.
    Being able to 1 shot a hulk head is kind of nice but the amr can 2 shot them but can also realistically shoot the vent on the back and also stagger the flamethrower
    If it needs to be able to cancel shots so you can actually prep shots for every potential target and opportunity and not just completely waste ammo after getting shot near max charge. Also a railgun not having heavy penetration is the most un satisfying thing ever and without it, it will never have a niche the amr doesn’t just do better

    9:24 They don't though. Have you actually tried standing under a Tesla emplacement with one of the ARC armors? You don't die instantly, but it's like a 25% jolt every 2 seconds.

      ?!?! I said you run that if you're teammates are running arc throwers or if you are running arc towers. it's a 95% reduction in damage since you instantly die without it.

      @@OhDough Yeah the Tesla Emplacements ie. Arc Towers. Same thing. It literally zaps you for a quarter of your health every few seconds with the armor on. From the flavor text, popular perception is the Arc armors make you borderline immune to shock. It's not true. You will die rather fast standing under one.

    And yeah, the artilery VO is incredibly annoying and there's no excuse for not throttling it or removing it. Maybe say it once when you enter range and have an alert like "Bot drop detected" on the screen

    Railgun just really, still doesn't feel like it's ever going to cut it as a 'workhorse' against heavy armor like AC can be. It's looking like it's going to be best as a supportive one, like an anti-two-legged battle sniper in a squad with an AMR, AC, and RR

      if you have an AMR and AC why EVER bring the railgun? both are on par versus anything small and utterly kick the railguns ass up and down the road in terms of anti gunship[, anti tank/turret AND anti ATAT.
      plus one's got a scope while the other has enough ammo to be used as a pseudo-primary weapon (so that primary can focus on AoE bow/puni-plas/blitzer or simple ROF/DPS lib/smg/incen-break.

      @@guardiandaytona8454 people tend to take their time in missions, solo is a SLOG (tho that's also true of helldivers but DRG is laborious, HD2 is plain punishing in enemy-swarms).
      But, DRG has a rotating map/biome-cycle, a server browser, an array of fun n usable weapons (but the first run or 4 is rough before you get an ammo upgrade), the classes kinda compliment each other and the map system is .. . . workable if imprecise (3d terrain maping with knot shaped cave-systems).
      Overall good fun but FUGLY and somewhat simplistic once you get used to it. Great casual game tho and the community is genuinely great.

      at that point, why bother with the railgun at all? just bring an eagle-cluster/strike/napalm/rocket or the precision/ems/rail-cannon for the trash/spam clear and merc anything with some armour with the AV in a single shot the moment they appear.
      Hell there's MULTUIPLE PRIMARIES that take out tanks/turrets/gunships/strider-guns/striders in a fraction of the time it takes the railgun. The weapon has been rendered ineffective against the things it's heavy-pen should by all means kill without issues (even if it takes a few shots).

    It's honestly not great in general. The armor stripping is a nice change but it just needs more damage. At least make it 5 shot bile titans. Pierce though would also be awesome, but idk if that would be too much

    The railgun buffs seem quite "generaas" ;) No, but for real, the railgun is better than the other non-backpack support weapons like AMR/laser cannon at being able to effectively use more cover between shots and take easier shots against all bots up to the hulk. But, I still take the AMR. It's almost as quick and easy for the humanoid bots but handles everything else way quicker and easier.

    imo I think the new Safe mode does warrant some use on the Automaton side. Both modes can shoot the Scout Striders through their shield, 1-tap Devastators in the face/hip joint and 1-tap Hulks through their visor. It also comes with the added benefit of being able to hold your shots if some people prefer that. I dunno, I just think I'd prefer not running the risk of blowing myself up just because I overcharged it by a little.

    Its better against the medium guys IMO. Good against all the devistators minus the heavy since you gotta aim small anyway. Better against striders and hulks than the AMR unless at distance. Autocannon still sweeps if you dont want a back pack and autocannon is more well rounded than railgun. Railgun really just needs more damage.

    Railgun is great for 1 thing: it absolutely explodes terminid warriors with the right level of charge😂
    I'd like this explosion to deal collateral damage but visuals are good enough already for me to like it. Feels like game thinks (oh wow this warrior was hit by penetration force 6 points higher than it is - turn on the effects boys!🎉). Usually leaves teammated flabbergasted.
    Not because of cool visuals but because they couldn't believe you would waste railgun shot on a little bug🤣🤣
    You should try it some time.
    As anti-armor? Mehh..there are quasar, recoiless, exp. AT
    I guess it's really hard to balance railgun. No jokes. Weapon is literally handheld cannon that can launch small solid projectiles even faster than cannon😂
    But I mean...why adding it to only keep it low then?
    I see absolutely no problem if people would have initial railgun back (or with good damage buff on unsafe mode).

    Still can't deal effectively with bile titans, nor can't do anything the autocannon does better.
    Maybe you want the backpack, but then why not take the AMR at this point? Automations are mostly ranged anyway, railgun scope is trash.
    Its only redeeming quality is being able to one-shot a hulk.. which for the automatons is like, a medium enemy. We still have bigger fish to fry, and railgun doent deal with those.

    So, maybe I'm totally crazy, but I'd swear that the railgun has some sort of aim assist mechanic going on, even for mouse and keyboard players.
    Like, after playing around with the adjusted diligence, it just seems *so much* easier to land headshots with the railgun, even without the zoom. Am I just nuts?
