Probably the clearest recording of MBV live I've seen
True
the clearest recording of mbv including studio recordings as well...

Deb Googe is a KILLER bass player! So buried and up against such walls of massive volume but still manages to be super creative and an integral part of the sound. There's no one else like her except Lou Barlow.
Her playing is heroic and inspired! She’s a huge part of their sound. I dig it when she goes up the neck like Hookie and especially when she kind bounces off the vocals. Plus the anchor she delivers in the deep grooves.
Kevin Shields wrote most of the bass parts and played most of them on the records

There cab be only one mbv!
lmao bouncers that never knew about this band just had a profound experience
ha when I saw them in 2018 the bouncer to my right began holding his ears in pain and shock during the final 20 minutes.
They probably shit their pants from the vibrations.
If any band could truly produce the fabled "Brown Note" it would be MBV.
I've heard of loud noise and feedback making people physically ill.
Especially if they aren't used to it, or half-deaf like most rock musicians are.

12/20/2022 - it only took 3 years for someone to make all the time stamps ;)
W when you sleep tmr and hate what do u take me for insane eyes you made me realise
There was a comment with time stamps before, but it got removed for some reason
Also 40:20 is Blown a Wish, not To Here Knows When. They did play it, but it was between Nothing Much to Lose and Slow, which from what I can tell based on the video didn't get recorded because the cameraman got told off by someone for recording, stopped, moved somewhere else and started recording again during Slow, hence why it cuts in and the position of the camera has changed.
@@jmckenzie962 got it, maybe that’s the reason why someone yelled turn it off?
THANK YOU I WAS LOOKINH FOR TIMESTAMPS SO LONG
I didn't think I would listen to the whole 30 minutes of You Made Me Realize but the noise was so good I couldn't leave lol
Were you deaf after? holy moly...
this is the first recording I've found which is very good of the noise part. mbv and phone/camera mics have always been enemies to each other

Loudness but why ... not able to play live? distorted distortion i mean their genius don't need that harm level .. sounds loud on 15% laptop setting .. white noise

GREAT CAKE
I was here for this!
I was there. So fucking loud I had to spend the gig outside. Thanks for wasting my cash, Kev!
YYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I saw a show by Dinosaur Jr. that went atonal like that at the end, to great effect. But I *don't* think it has to be that loud to make your point. Some people going don't really realize what they're getting into hearing-wise. But Sui generis. They give me the nerve to just full on go atonal for long periods if so inclined.
So, Kevin sings Come In Alone? I was always thinking it was Bilinda
😰😰 yo también pensaba eso 😮😮
Kevin Sings a lot more songs on Loveless than Bilinda
I think they're both singing on it on the record
It was pitch-shifted, that's why you were mistaken.

qué carajo pasó al final, eso fue épico
It's an experiment that Kevin shields and the other band mates would do. They would play as loud as they could for as long as possible to see how long it would take for the crowd's mood to change. Just imagine how loud this would be irl... insane!
What's the movie played in background during Thorn ? ( 32:06 )
I was on this tour on probably the worst gig for them : Paris. The rules of the venue are so full of shit. The PA stopped on the noise wall of you made me realise (as it was probably topping at 100 or 110dB, so not even that loud). Awful. Felt bad for them. Never went to a zenith again.
Man I can’t even stand anything above 85dB, so even 100-110dB would fuck my ears up
I was in the Paris gig too. My ears were hurting for a couple of days. I remember Kevin Shields apologizing in the middle of the gig

wow 13:23
loved that part too
Not one good live recording of this band, incredible.
As much as I love this band I’ve never really understood why they end their sets the way they do. They’ve suffered well-documented hearing damage and that level of noise sustained for that long is bound to do the same thing to more than a few people in the audience. Maybe five minutes of noise max is enough to get the point across. Nearly 30 is indulgent, annoying and unnecessary
It's really something else isn't it? Kevin's a badass
From what I’ve seen from there more recent shows, they keep the noise section closer to around 10 minutes. 30 minutes is definitely too much haha.
