- Ashley, Ryan, and I make the climb up SIGIRIYA ROCK. Many claim it is the "8th WONDER OF THE WORLD." Who claims that? No idea, but I'm certain they're correct ;-)
Sigiriya Rock is located in central Sri Lanka and is part of the famed Cultural Triangle; a region that contains a large portion of Sri Lanka's most famous attractions. Sigiriya Rock towers 200m into the air and has the ruins of a palace on the top. The construction of the palace eventually bankrupted the kingdom and it fell into disarray.
It's a tough 1,200 stairs to the top that many say isn't too bad. I disagree! Of course I was carrying a big camera and a tripod, so that may have something to do with it.

Your narration is exquisite good sir! Good tip about not attempting if one is afraid of heights. How do you keep your gear from getting destroyed in the humidity and rain?
Thanks! I use weather-sealed cameras and lenses most of the time and my camera bag is also weather-resistant. Helps a lot when you travel to the tropics or live in a rainy city like Seattle.
