The saddest thing is that Paul Newman who voiced Doc left us in 2008, so they had to use lines from the 1st movie and had to cut up some of the recordings to get by.

There are some jokes in this series where you have to think about what something means to a car to get the joke. Fans flashing their headlights at McQueen. The "all-convertible" waitresses. That kind of thing. In this one, it's the primer. When he's feeling down-and-out, and wearing only a primer coat while refusing to go out... that's him in his underwear.
I don't think I've EVER seen a reactor so enthusiastic about this movie.... it was refreshing... (I did the same thing... maybe a notch or 2 lesser) but hey better than Great reaction as usual... way to go Leo. BTW loved the "Carthritis line"... classic

McQueen swapping with Cruz at the end of the race is equivalent to a driver change in real NASCAR. All race cars on the track are required to have an emergency release roof hatch. The driver either climbs out of the hatch, or through the window net, and a new driver is substituted in. This has happened when racers are coming back from injury or are racing sick and can't complete the race. Also related to the movie, the driver who started the race is credited the win, and not the racer who substituted in. Like Smokey said, only the number has to be out on the track per rules. It does not define the driver cannot be changed.
Except the ones competing in this are the actual cars. This would be more like having a marathon where you were just allowed to swap out a runner in the last five miles. That doesn’t make much sense, does it?
idk if you ever gonna read this but there's is this other version in their story board where before the race start, while lighting was in the garage, they put his numbers on Cruz, when lightning comes out, he was shocked and sad that he was being replaced by Cruz, sterling said it was all his plan to make Cruz come with him so instead of her training lightning, it was lightning training her

Better to go out giving someone their chance, someone he felt like a mentor to, than just flat out losing and being ragged on after the fact. Also in racing they switch out drivers all the time, most teams have three or four racers.
