Dry Fly Fishing CRYSTAL CLEAR Big Spring Creek

As one of the largest natural limestone springs in Pennsylvania, Big Spring Creek is a productive, albeit frustrating wild trout fishery. Over the course of two days, dry fly fishing the FFO and lower sections, we managed to land 3 wild rainbow trout and one stocked (not wild) Brook Trout. I've always had a love/hate relationship with this stream, but the more that I take time to fly fish here, the more I appreciate this unique South Central PA stream.

Ever since they closed down the Big Spring Hatchery the fish activity in the fly fishing area has decreased and for some reason they stopped mowing and weedeating like they did back in the day! To me living right up over the hill from the head of the spring I remember growing up in the area and it used to be polluted with trout

Hatchery was killing off a lot of the wild trout. I’ve been there twice this year and saw so many wild trout I lost count, tons of 8-14 inch fish as well. One rainbow I saw was probably pushing 23-24 inches. I got skunked both times but that obviously didn’t mean the fish weren’t there.

This stream is loaded with fish. It does see a l lot of pressure, which forces the fish into hiding lies. Once you find out how and where they hide, success will come much quicker. Think streamers and weed beds...

I like your vids, but why in hell didn't you pick up that power bait container/trash?? Please don't say because you didn't want to get caught with it on a C&R section, because it's obvious you're fly fishing.
