i am a 72 year old woman. this young lady has taken my heart and soul. saw her in hollywood last month. right up front at the fonda,. she has a septum ring. well now i do to. i have her name tattooed on my forearm. people ask who is that. oh boy do i tell them. lighthouse...my favorite song of all time. love her and god bless her
Was walking down the Atlantic city boardwalk one evening... And i heard this once in a lifetime voice sangin" in front of 20 people , been following her and the music ever since !!
Hear her from the back of the room at a small venue in Inglewood-Nash and the sound of her voice stopped everything I was doing and I was like a moth to flame sonically. She is the songbird of the century.
I hope Sierra knows what kind of a deep impact she has on her fans. So candid, relatable and truly endearing. Cannot wait for this album and to hear more of your story in the future.
As a fellow West Virginia native, the plight of the economy and drug abuse, especially heroin, is just so depressing. I know how she feels and I myself abused alcohol and drugs and when your surrounded by those types of people its easy to get stuck and hang around. Music for me kept me out of most trouble but for me being someone with trauma, substance abuse seemed the only escape. Thankfully i was able to leave although West Virginia will always be my home. Her story is very inspiring and pretty much how i grew up myself and how music is so powerful and healing. Happy to say I haven't touched any drugs in 8 years, I occasionally enjoy a drink here or there, but her and these boys are right, Get the help you need. Therapy changed me for the good and music is the best medicine. Thank you guys for having Sierra on your show. Looking foreword to seeing her at Delfest this year. Really enjoyed it. Much love!
Zach, never heard of you, but impressed with your interviewing skills. You brought more out of Sierra than most interviewers I’ve seen her speak with. Not easy to do when you’re treading in waters you’re not super familiar with. Thanks
Fckn right my man! Well said. I thought exactly the same. I know Sierra from way back and I am glad that she’s out there now speaking about these kind of things and happy to see Zach engaging with it
@@woody6791dude. I’ve been saying I swear I’ve seen her around maybe several times… but I can’t say for sure. We’ve been in a lot of the same places and the same time and have the same kind of circles. Either way she’s real af and maybe that’s why i feel so strongly that way. No one deserves her star to shine more than Sierra. 💜🌻
I love the way she described having an emotional connection with a song and loving learning to play it to evoke that same emotion with those around her. I've never heard it explained so well, and as a musician I wholeheartedly agree. What a beautiful soul. So happy you had her on, always love your lovely conversations with your guests!
I remember seeing Sierra walking barefoot down a dirt path singing Shania Twain songs when she was 6 years old, and I said, "Mark my words, that girl's gonna be a STAR SOMEDAY!" So, I win. Anyway, I told you so.
Great interview. There is more magic than we are told, and there’s a butt load of it in Sierra Ferrell. She’s the real deal, the best thing to happen to country music since … Dolly maybe, or even Patsy Cline. A legend in the making.
I'm an old new yorker, I lived through the 60's and was raised on jazz. When I heard Sierra for the first time, I thought of Billie Holliday and then another time of Janice Joplin. Yes, she is much more solid in herself -- thankfully. Her sound is unique, yet it connects to the past, but opens to the future. I love her!
Yes exactly, I just found her music last weekend. I absolutely heard Billie Holliday and Sierras phrasing is so beautiful and natural. She's like a mix of Billie and Patsy Cline....so dynamic!
Just discovered Sierra via a Zach Sang TT clip and was blown away the second I ran to her YT page. She is one of those few in a liftetime kind of voices, artists, musicians, souls. So grateful on those random days when something positive actually comes out of my mindless scrolling
Found her 2 years ago. Been mildly obsessed ever since in the best possible way. Her and her music are something unique and precious. Her raw honesty is refreshing! Love watching people discover her. Her music brings me so much joy. ☺ ♥ 🎶
Sierra is in rarefied air for me, her voice is just so perfect and haunting in the best kind of way. She's in my top-5 artists ever and her career is so young. I hope she knows how she's touched our lives with her music.
Sierra has truly lit up my soul since I discovered her. So grateful for her contribution and genuine genius. ‘Why’d you do it’ blew me into a sparkling vacuum of sensory satisfaction. Love love love her ….🕯️🌵🕯️
Absolutely love sierra. I'm all the way down in New Zealand, she is number one of any artist I hope to see live. I'm 36 and have pretty much been listening to nothing but bob dylan since I was a teenager.. Now I have two artists I obsessively listen to 😂
Sierra Ferrell truly saved me from such a dark time after the passing of my father. She gave me a spark again to play music which is so amazing. I have goosebumps every time I listen to her. Just saw her in ATL and wow just just. Real musicians her and her band.
This woman is a once in a lifetime talent and, more importantly, a beautiful soul who is wise beyond her years...I can't wait to see where life takes her! Thank you to friend who got her out! I hope she is smiling from the other side!
Zach never disappoints with an incredibly human conversation. Sierra really has a special light that I want to see more of; that spark that really started to go off as she relaxed into the conversation. But holy, after the podcast, checking out her album, I’m BLOWN away and an instant fan. Song after song, incredible. She was right on the money about conveying the emotion. You can channel and that’s a gift.
Sierra your an angel don’t let the world bring you down to it’s level! All us angels love you! And we love you! For what you bring in the songs you sing! You help us all! Especially the angels like you going though this crazily living life!! Here to help for a short time! All we can do!!!
Wow. Credit to Zach for being an incerdible interviewer and host. I love Sierra, I've been listening to her for years and saw her in Stockholm in August. This was such a great insight into her past, her story and creative process. Best interview I've heard for awhile! 👏👏
Been listening to Sierra about 2 years now. Instantly fell in love with her craft. Listening to this dialogue makes me love her that much more. Its refreshing to listen to a true artist. And she's a conspiracy theorists 😊 makes sense why i felt so connected.
Such amazing stories and interpretations of her philosophy of music. This is a tuning fork for me as a musician to try and connect and resonate that deeper purpose and energy in music, thanks zach for having these conversations.
Simply a phenomenal conversation. Have been enjoying her music in passing for past month. she is not just getting more noteriety and exposure, but she’s really embodying positivity and sharing that in a holistic / honest way. Very human conversation delving into lots of real and hard hitting realizations throughout this whole interview. Few artists are out talking with this openness, especially not ones in the “industry.” Hope she continues to spread her message and share her light with the world.
Zach, what a fantastic interview. I found your interview here with Sierra because I had watched your awesome interview with Ren, my new favorite artist. Without knowing Sierra’s history, I felt an immediate connection to her music. She is the real deal! I hope to see her live in the future. Nice job!
Big fan of her music! Got to see her once in Asheville. So surprised to see her on Zach Sang. It’s really cool to get to know more of her personality! ❤

I've been listening to her music for a few years now, but this is the first time I've seen her interviewed. It was nice to watch, and she's as cool as thought she would be. Also, as a former hobo myself, I can relate to most everything she went through as a traveler, particularly how so many of my old highway friends have died or disappeared. I miss them all.
I discovered her a few weeks back. I fell in lover with her showing at Red Rocks with Shaky Graves. She reminded me of Dolly. Her voice; her writing and overall delivery are amazing, and her outfits and glitter are so cool.
Impressive interview! I just discovered her singing and playing recently, and it's truly inspiring. Achieving that level of songwriting and singing requires living through experiences and the scars that come with them. It's wonderful to witness the support from individuals like Chris Scruggs and others for this talented young artist. Even though I'm not typically into the old-school country my parents used to perform every night, her undeniable talent and authenticity have won me over as a fan! Well done Zach and Sierra!
She's such a life's influence for me.. and this personal tidbit is nice.. straightforward gal with a steller voice. Relate in a lot of ways and knew when I first layed an ear on her that she'd be huge.
Saw you you in Santa Fe! Was amazing! Thank you for you! Payote helped me when I was young, and still to this day!! I’m half native am. And it makes the most sense! Being in the realm of the ancestors!!
Mainstream Country is 1000% Pop! I completely agree! And I agree, call it what it is. It’s not that pop country is bad necessarily, I mean to each their own! But like Sierra said call it what it used to! Make a new genre! Rick on Sierra! I love every bit of her music. It’s all so raw, soulful and real! And true to herself! Her talent is literally second to none! Don’t change baby doll! Your everything! You’ve got it all! Never sell out! You are most definitely a once in a generation, once in a lifetime! No one even comes close girl! Huge huge fan! Can’t wait to see you live! 🤘🏼🫶🏼
I saw her show at the end of May in Fort Lauderdale FL one summer recently and she was great. I can't remember if it was last May or the May before. I think it was last May. She was great and so was her band. That's what I remember well! ❤❤❤❤
Wow, great interview from both Sierra and Zach. I have known Sierra for about 3 years now staring here on RUclips, then the first record. This is the first time I have visited Zach's channel, I feel Zach is a really good interviewer. He does a great job of interacting and asking good questions as well as a great job of shutting up, hahaha..it is an Art. "Please don't dominate the rap Jack if you got nothing new to say". Zach does a great job at that, Sierra does as well. That said, I must say it is not really cool to say we (Non- African American?) would be nothing without African American influence on music, just as it would be not cool to say that African Americans would be nothing without non African American influence on music. The Europeans, Native Americans and all other People of America have their own roots and stories and music and instruments as do the Africans and African Americans. The magic came from the collaboration/ working and playing together of the various social/ethnic groups. In the case of Country music and Rockn'Roll it was mostly White/European and Black African folks. One without the other would have resulted in the traditional folk music of Europe and Africa evolving separately as what we see as Euro and Afro traditional music. Those forms of music are certainly not "nothing"and predate any collaboration. Would there be African Mississippi Delta style Blues or New Orleans style Jazz without European descended folks influence, language and instruments? I doubt it would be as we know it. Would there be Rockn'Roll, Hillbilly, Country , Americana Folk , without African descended folks influence and instruments? I doubt it would be as we know it. Here in America it has been the influence upon each other of these groups of People and the ebb and flow of certain aspects of culture that created these new American Music forms. This is Americana at it's glorious best. I will stay off the tracks when it comes to Hip Hop or Rap as I do not know much about those lines. The cooperation and exchange of mostly county/rural/poor folks of both ethinic/racial/cultural groups does not negate the many styles of music that both groups created before they cooperated. Best Wishes to all the good folks of every color, everywhere and always. There are great things on both sides of the track and awful things as well.We need to stick together and resist the culture wars from both sides of the same coin and big $$$, Government and tech that seek to divide, turn us against each other and conquer Americans of all races and creeds. If the game is rigged and we play it anyway.....then we are crooked as well. "I don't know but I've been told, it's hard to run with the weight of gold, on the other hand I've heard it said, it's just as hard with the weight of lead".
I feel like Sierra Ferrell is my spirit animal. We have the exact same outlook! I also attended several schools growing up, choir and left home at an early age etc. my goodness!!
This newer generation of country folk singer songwriters are amzing. She just did a song with Benjamin Todd and its amazing good. Like this fella her music and similar artists are the first music to really move me in a long time.

This is a good interview. Especially because you arent exactly familiar with musicians who influenced her. Its nice to hear an interview from someone who isnt a super fan boy
Fantastic interview. Im hearing this conversation about the common people being exploited by government and big business EVERYWHERE and am so tired. When are we going to collectively stand up against the powers the be(the idiots). P.s I Love sierra, im so excited for her come up❤
I wanna meet her so bad. She's inspired me a lot with her voice, and Im working on recording my songs and releasing them. I want her to see what she's inspired
I know her. I truly do feel like I’ve met her before, maybe multiple times, and we’ve been in a lot of the same stomping grounds during the same times. I can’t shake the feeling. Either way, I _know her_ and she’s real. Fuck yeah Sierra, take the world.
As a mom and grandmother, I can’t imagine how worried her mom must’ve been about her when she was hitchhiking and train hopping. That tiny little girl…I know it helped make her what she is but man, I bet she worried to death. Sierra’s such a free spirit, one couldn’t contain her.

I love how Sierra is so genuine and real. I would rather have one friend like her than have a dozen "so called" friends that are fake and phoney.
Sierra Ferrell is QUEEN!!!
Payrote gets you through the logistics, if life.. high awaska gets you ready for the next stage of it! Be here now! And in joy!!
Country music fusion (pick the genre) is called Americana.
I love this interview.
This is a good interview. Especially because you arent exactly familiar with musicians who influenced her. Its nice to hear an interview from someone who isnt a super fan boy
Great interview I’m a new supporter of sierra
I love this look so much! She looks amazing 🌻
Fantastic interview. Im hearing this conversation about the common people being exploited by government and big business EVERYWHERE and am so tired. When are we going to collectively stand up against the powers the be(the idiots).
P.s I Love sierra, im so excited for her come up❤
Been following her for a few years, she is an awesome singer. Her new gold tooth, not so much.
I love itttt
Amazing interview one of the best ever a gift
I wanna meet her so bad. She's inspired me a lot with her voice, and Im working on recording my songs and releasing them. I want her to see what she's inspired
I know her. I truly do feel like I’ve met her before, maybe multiple times, and we’ve been in a lot of the same stomping grounds during the same times. I can’t shake the feeling. Either way, I _know her_ and she’s real. Fuck yeah Sierra, take the world.
A Country heart, a Jazz mind, and adorable as all hell!
I’m a Sierra Farrell fan for life. She’s my 21st century Dolly. 💜
she's incredible
It makes so much sense that Rosemary is about bread 😄💚 Incredible song about an incredible food
Watching this I feel like I am one in the same with her mindset 😭💞
As a mom and grandmother, I can’t imagine how worried her mom must’ve been about her when she was hitchhiking and train hopping. That tiny little girl…I know it helped make her what she is but man, I bet she worried to death. Sierra’s such a free spirit, one couldn’t contain her.
Hitched and rode trains from the early 80's in South Africa and Namibia. Letters and calls home saying all's good.
Agreed
I'm sure she was protected by a lot of good road-dogs along the way. And god.
Truly amazing being❤
Five times! Sierra is part kitty-cat. She only has four left! So glad God has hold off so she can share her tremendous talent with the world!!!
Now that is an Artist!
She is my future wife! I love her music and way of life. She is way more country music than the crap they play on Texas radio stations.
"Music comes from a Holy space" ❤❤❤
