- Veteran news anchor Don Lemon was stunned after learning CNN fired him. "After 17 years at CNN, I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly," Lemon tweeted. However, CNN fired back at the popular journalist, calling his statement inaccurate. They say Lemon was offered an opportunity to meet with management but released a Twitter statement instead. Inside Edition’s Jim Moret has more.
Can’t believe how easily it is to fire someone in America. They can dispose of you like trash. Lesson here is don’t ever put your job first as loyalty is definitely not reciprocated.

CNN is a business. Like any other business, they exist to make a profit for their stockholders. If, by your actions, you detract from that you'll be fired. Major brands were pulling their advertising due to allegations of sexism and misogyny on Lemons part. Why should they care about you? A company hires you to perform a job, you do the job to their satisfaction and you'll receive a salary for your efforts. They aren't a family. I hear that so many times..."I gave 15 years of my life to this company!" Okay, so what? You were also paid for 15 years.
If you want friendship and loyalty then get a dog. You need to understand how the world actually works, not how you believe it should work.

I don't like Lemon, but CNN fake news'd him on this one. He said management didn't tell him directly. CNN painted him as a liar and said he was given a chance to talk to management, they didn't say he wasn't informed he was being fired before offered the chance to talk to them. In other words, a non-denial denial.

It's because he's a veteran news anchor on a major news network. Personally I don't pity him considering how poor and overly opinionated his reporting of the news was starting to get. When I get my news, I don't want to feel like an opinion is being forced onto me. Plus, his behavior towards some of his co-workers wasn't good, either.
If he was anyone who wasn't a popular anchor he would've been fired awhile ago for the whole cheating with co-host drama.

I’m from Africa and been living in the US for the past 8 years. I have worked at several places and one big lesson I have learned is that the American employer can fire an employee at anytime , irrespective of how devoted and dedicated they’ve been to the job.

I think the panel interview during the election really change the face of journalism/ new anchors on both networks CNN and Fox . It’s confusing because they have their own segment on the show with guest here and there . Then in the same sentiments have restrains on how to discuss during open dialogue.
