- In an ABC24 exclusive, former CNN anchor Don Lemon discusses the duties he believes journalists face and his life away from the anchor's desk he sat in for 17 years.
He has the luxury of being able to choose which door to open after one has closed--a good position to be in, actually.
To be honest after 17 years for it to end like that wouldn't surprise me if he's battling some form of depression.

I can relate to Don's situation. I have barely watched CNN since he left. If you don't stand for something, you fall for anything. He used his platform to shine lights on the American justice system.

and his understanding that journalists in a democracy should be very thoughtful about how and why they do what they do,

Chris wanted to fire him because he wanted to change CNN to capture some of fox viewers. Chris hire conservative Phil Mattingly to replace him. Chris Licht goal was to use CNN credibility to whatever narrative turn it into fox.

Truth, Don would do well to consider politics as his next move as he has the metal to take whatever comes and give change for their efforts. He has a level head, considerate ways and an occasional slip of the tongue but has the sense to know when to think first, consider them carefully without stepping on his tongue when it comes out.

I am a conservative and I think I can make a fair assessment about Don Lemon. I liked him when he first came up some 20 years ago. He was smart, handsome and had strong interviewing skills. It also took a lot of courage when he said some blacks could improve their communities by taking responsibility and being more family oriented. However, when that progressive/woke wave hit some 15 years ago, the mainstream media he got carried away by the tsunami. He gave up journalistic integrity for liberal talking points. When the viewing public pushed back, he was an unfortunate casualty. Let him take a sabbatical and start working his way back. He should remember why he originally wanted to be a journalist and he can have a second act worth watching.
