Thx for sharing. I do have a problem with my Dyson V8. It's not charging, I got another charger and didn't do anything so returned it back. What do you suggest thx.
Great vid. but question the motor continuity at short, not so ...well not on mine, high resistance across motor terminals probably due to the digital processor circuit so no idea how you get a 0 ohms reading.
The battery voltage does not necessarily reflect the battery charge level or whether the charger/EMS is functioning correctly. The battery pack may therefore display a normal (nominal) voltage despite a faulty charger or circuit board. The steady blue light does suggest that the battery and charger are okay. Thanks for the helpful tips. The video could be retitled "removing lint from your trigger switch".
Hi Trevor thanks for ur video. Question was ur vacuum w a blue flashing light less than 10 times? Mine doesn’t charge and just flashes blue light no more than 10 times. Pls if have an answer I appreciate it
(from the Caribbean) Have a V6 fluffy ... best $125 U.S. I ever spent ! ...BUT .. they can be finicky! I bought a 6000mAH replacement (Amazon) when the original battery (2000 mAH) went south.. When that was in need charging, I plugged in the Dyson charger. I noticed that the charger was getting warm (maybe struggliing against the larger load ??) .. After four hours, the charger apparently turned off, (it was cool), but when I depressed the trigger, I got a blue light, and the vacuum still was'nt running . Pulled out the top filter, a little dust, but O.K. Washed. My tester probes were too big to fit into the battery contact space, put two large paper clips into slots and got a 2 volt reading. ( WHAT ?? ..AFTER 4 HOURS !!! ???). Pulled out the battery, and plugged the charger into it ... blue light solid ... reassembled ... my hand accidentally touched the trigger... and a mighty roar was heard !!... and the blue light had gone out. WHAT ?? .... MUST have been some hang-up in the handle contacts .. I was just abt to buy a new charger ...kind of like what your vid showed. Filter drying in the sun.. Will post again once its done. ....FINICKY... (Would love to see Dyson do a snap-in screwless battery change .. (much like a cordless drill)
I just bought a dyson v8 and I put it together pressed the trigger nothing no light on or anything. So I mounted the charging station and plugged it in to charge for 5 hrs and still no light no power and I never got to use it yet
There seems to to be a lot of problems with the dyson vacuum cleaner which raises alarm bells for me ,and by the way this machine wasn’t cheap by any means.have we all been sold a turkey???
Hi Trevor, Sarahs hubby here, i was given a V8 animal and when i plug the new charger in i have two solid blue lights and the third blue flashing. Do you have any clue what this is indicating? I only have a shitty volt meter and cannot find anyone with the same problem.
Hello mate, i just bought a multimetre today and measured both battery and the main body like you did, battery was ok 23,5 V . I measured the main body for the first 3 seconds i got the beep sound and it stoped. Can i assume there is a short circuit in main body? But when insert the battery it works with no problem . After 5 mn of working it gives me the red flashing light and stops. Then i remove the battery and press the button to check it , it gives blue light and 23V which means it is ok ? What can the red light result from even though battery and main body works ok?thanks in advance
Colin Osborne hi never said I did . But it worked for me and if helps anyone else it’s just a bonus . What does US mean ? please feel free to explain the way you would do it ? But it’s worked ever since . Have a great day 🤘🏻
Unfortunately, you fast forwarded the disassembly making it impossible to get the battery out. Watched it several times trying to figure out where you were removing the second screw. Had to go elsewhere. Please remove 32 views from your view count.

I wish you've shown trigger fix. But still very informative. I wish I saw your video before ordering new battery. Great job!
mario sellet thanks for comment :) I hope it helped :) good luck with new battery ..

Thomas Thankyou that could be true . I was just trying out some ideas and it worked for me . Thankyou for watching . I learn a little more everyday :)
Dude, you re totally right! Mostly it is a messep up bms
My v8 animal is blinking red and blue when it gets to 3 light on the charger. What does that mean?
I believe it’s a new battery for you …
@@spacecadet1975 I ordered an aftermarket battery replacement and that one had dead cells too! Bad luck with my first dyson
My Dyson dc62 flashing blue 10 times? I fully charge him for more then 3,5 hour, and I have same problem? What that blue flashing means?
I’m not 100 percent but I think battery is in need of replacement .
Nice video,
Is it possible for the motor continuity test to fail but the vacuum still work?
Thanks! That fixed my unit too!
Glen Last awesome ! Glad I could help :)

Hi mine was flashing appx 6-8 times I believe . It may be worth trying a new battery ?
@@spacecadet1975 to tell you that, at the end that problem was the cable, cuz after I gota new battery it still not working. Thanks
@@patriciablackmon6764 hi thats good to hear why there was an issue... just not that you had to get a battery first to find out.. doh!
Most people would have tossed it in the bin... Nice work!

Sarah Townsend I’m afraid I’m not 100 percent but I believe that is a batt terminal fault ?
Does the v6 battery fit the v8?

Torukojinnn hi I’m afraid I’m not sure . Ha e you fried the multimeter ?
I got 0 volts on my battery.
I'm getting zero volts when I press 5he switch, but the V8 works when I put it back together....but only for 1 minute ???
Kev. K sounds like a battery issue . Have you tried getting a new one ?
@@spacecadet1975 I got a new battery because it seemed the most logical and it's ok now, but I like to prove things first usually
Sorry mate you dont know what you are on about. Its the battery cells that are US.
