Hurray!!! I feel sheepish that it didn’t occur to me that it might be the battery, when I have been through this before. Got a Dyson compatible battery off Amazon for $30. Perfection!!! Thank you!
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thank you for the great and informative video. My partner has been plagued with a 'faulty' handheld Dyson for ages now but after seeing your video for the battery issue...it has all falllen into place. Also my partner suffers from alleries and every time she has managed to get the Dyson to function she has started sneezing and all manner of reactions. Seeing your HEPA filter conversion should hopefully be a game-changer along with a new battery. Thank you for the easy to follow video. Very helpful. I'll let you know how we get on. Many thanks again. Regards, Dal
Fantastic mate you're more thorough and cover lots of faults. It's taken me a while to find something about the blue flashing light. Thanks heaps and I love your conversion video. I'm gunna try 18650 replacement and see if it will go back together again. After watching your stuff it gives me confidence to give it a go. Cheers mate 👍🇦🇺
I've got 2 dead batterys now so I'm planning on doing a video trying to replace the 18650s but have been told the battery management boards can brick and never work again.
Well excellent video but one additional point. Was about to go to eBay when I thought I'd phone Dyson direct to ensure I got a decent battery (ref your one word of warning) - guess what - Dyson are sending me one FOC!!! Not bad for a 2017 purchase. Didn't ask just got it! Maybe because I was a loyal customer over the years.
That's exactly the same symptoms as my one. Confirms that I thought one of the battery cells must be dying and yet the rest are ok. Time to get a new battery pack. ❤
Thank you very much for this video! I am super upset because I just bought the V15 Dyson after having to think about A LOT because it is very expensive. When I finally got it it turns out that the second time I use it, the battery wont charge! and i bought this hoover 2 days ago. I will talk to the shop (a reputable one in the UK) but I wonder now if I should ask for a new battery only or a full refund or change the entire hoover, what do you think? Thank you very much
Thanks for the video I just cleaned all the filters ,as told by dyson rep , but it was still just working a few seconds then dieing so they just sent me a new battery ( as its still under warranty ) I just fitted it and put it on charge , fingers crossed it fixes the problem ..I have'nt finished watching this video yet but " HOPING " YOU TELL ROUGHLY HOW LONG IT TAKES TO FULLY CHARGE ..
Hi quick answer needed. Got V7, blue light flashing but when plugged to power supply no light at all. Normally should be blue light. So wondering if it battery or power supply unit??
hard to say I would test the charger with a multi meter to see but could be charger or battery but like you say the light should go on when plugged in.
Yes, I’m sick of Dyson’s greed now. I am regularly replacing battery’s for two cordless vacuums that I own (every 2 years or so). I am I no doubt that the battery destroying itself when it is charged when hot is part of Dyson’s planned obsolescence algorithm. To modify the battery to delay charging until it cools would be so simple. All the hardware, including temperature monitoring and processor are already incorporated into the battery. it would just require a software modification I’m sure. But that isn’t in the interest of a moneymaking company is it?
I’ve just recently tried using smart plugs on the chargers. I’ve set them to come on late at night. Now when I’ve used the vacuum and the battery is hot it won’t start charging immediately when I put it on the cradle. I’ve only been doing it for a few months, but all seems well so far. 🤞
My Dyson does nothing the charger flashes green when plugged in but that's about it could that be the battery or do you think it would be something else Thanks
Hi yea my light is on constant blue when on charge but only lasts about 30 seconds before switching off. Can I have a link for the replacement batteries please bbe?
there's 2 types if you take yours off go on amazon or ebay type In dyson v6 battery lots will come up just find one the same as yours along as its not to cheap it will be just fine.
My Dyson was bought last January and it is not working, I am thinking it is the battery, the light flashes up to four times when connected to the charger, then nothing. Would the battery go when it is not even a year old?
I removed the battery after doing all the other checks. The device runs for about half a second then stops, and the amber light flashes once or twice. After removing the battery, when I push the activation button down, the light is solid blue which seems that the battery is fine. As soon as I put the battery back on the machine the same thing happens however. Do you think it is worth getting a new battery? Thanks
I have two Dyson Stick Vacuums. I replaced the battery with an authentic Dyson Battery. That was in January, and in Ju;ne it was already dying. Any suggestions?
I bought a dyson compatible battery off amazon. Ive had it a few months , now it wont charge and has 0L in the charger window. Do i need a new battery , and is it worth buying another compatible one or an original one ?
what about the similar one from Zoker, the A10 pro... I have one but the battery isn't charging... soon as it is hooked up to the charger, battery level indicator lights blink but the suction indicator stays red and solid... how do I fix THAT?... I'm all for DIY repairs, forget buying new/replacements.
Hi, is there a way to tell if the charger is duff rather than the battery? E.g. if I measure the voltage across the charger plug, when on (no Dyson connected, of course) what should it read?
Thanks mate. Exactly what's happened to me V6 I think I bought back in 2015. I tried to get the back cover off, the round back, and couldn't. Damaged the plastics trying of course. Should I even do that? Does it matter? Dyson has made it impossible to get the thing off. Top filter has been cleaned multiple times. This time the dust ball inside had solidified into a golf ball size so the machine obviously didn't like that at all. Replacement batteries in Australia are A$45 for a copy, A$120 for an original. You recommend get the original? What if I buy a new battery and it doesn't fix it? Waster money then.
The light on my charging plug is glowing green, when i plug it in the device looks dead. No lights come on. The vac works for a few seconds then stops. So its not charging.??
it's hard to say because if the battery is faulty it won't take a charge and if the charger is broken it won't charge. but chargers very rarely go faulty. if it has a green light on I'm guessing it's not a original Dyson charger. I would replace the battery if it's old and go from there.
Ive got a v6 in which I recently replaced the battery with a new one and has been fine for a few days but now I've noticed the blue charging light doesn't go out when v6 is sat in the dock even way past 4 hours and not using all the battery's charge, have you any idea what may be going on, thanks
@@FINDITFIXITRESTOREITBUILDIT I emailed the retailers and they said it may be the charger as they can be troublesome with the voltage ect but I'm not so sure, I've bought a new one just to see, if it isn't then battery's going in the bin and a refund with a bad review
I have a V6 max, changed the battery, the crown, washed the filter, nothing. I remember reading on the internet like a fix it site, you physically have to spin the motor, the inside of the grey thing, with the battery detached. I stuck a small screwdriver and spun it clockwise, no go, spun it counter clockwise and the thing worked even stronger than before. I read where the motor seizes so you have to move it manually to get it to work again.
I will never by Dyson sticks again .. batteries always fail . One 2 days after warranty. Yes I clean after every use . Found a different brand , better and it’s 4 yrs old
My battery was working fine until I left it in my home for months and I switched off because of a house fire I was in no it won't charge and there's two red flashing lights
I have noticed the battery pack is 21.6v.. (3.6v nominal) but the charger it came with charges it to 26.1 (4.35v per cell) Lithium Cells are supposed to only be charged to 4.2v maximum.. Unless Dyson uses LiPoHV in their packs, this is definitely overcharging the packs... and it would also be a 22.8v pack, not a 21.6v
I watched a half dozen useless RUclips videos when I found yours. Thank you for what should have come to me but you made it so clear!!!

Weird, I did buy a very cheap Dyson clone battery and it outlasted the OG Dyson battery.
not surprised all there batteries aren't all that good.
What brand?
Planned obsolescence?
Can you share the link to buy the battery?

try getting a replacement for your one off the amazon seller as it should have a warranty. see how the replacement goes.

Hi my v7 animal stays on constant and doesn’t turn of would this be a fault with the battery
yes there's a little switch in the battery pack it sounds like it's got stuck

try plugging it in to charge and hold the trigger for 10 seconds to reset the battery.

maybe battery died because motor is overdemanding ampers, dead battery is symptom
