No problem. It's good that you're noticing that stuff as your growing. Lighting, audio, colors all have a dramatic effect if they are done incorrectly or adversely effect the final product. Keep up the good work...and great content. BH is good stuff...just need to fine tune their higher proof stuff IMO.
Thanks for the in-depth thorough review. I enjoyed all the points that were covered. I am curious about this one because I wanna know about Missouri juice. I think I’ll get it ASAP. Also, thanks about explaining soft red wheat versus hard red. I had no idea
Glad you liked it, When i read about the soft red wheat i thought it would be good to talk about. I've long thought we should do a little history or something of each bourbon/distillery but I've been trying to shorten the videos so ive never really committed to the extra info.
A fan of BH Soft Red Wheat. Discovered it a couple of Months ago and went back to get a second bottle when the first is gone. (Which will be gone by the weekend)
Idk if it's related but High Wire Jimmy Red is going around and I've heard good things, I wanna get my hands on a bottle. Sipping Old Soul Tin Type 1 watching. We gotta get some Starlight OHLQ picks on Homer's mouth. We know Homer likes wine finishes because Joseph Magnus is finished in wine 🤔 and i believe he's an Angels Envy fan 🤔🤔. What are Homer's thoughts on the Chattanooga Port 🤔🤔🤔. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Homer and his Japanese Businessman Pallette. I'm curious if he would love Japeanse Whiskies like Hibiki, Yamazaki, Suntory etc 🤔🤔🤔 and non peated scotch? Hell Yeah more clip cutaways 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I actually like very few wine finished bourbons, i do like AE but i do NOT like the chatt whiskey cabernet finished, never had their port finish, and avoid most wine finished whiskeys because of my previous disliking of the ones i've tried. I do not enjoy rice liquor, haven't had one yet that i thought was good and Scotch ....🤢 I'm a bourbon snob.
I've had one Ben Holladay and i luv it. I have The Lore and it's as good as MM46f.o.c.s. imo. I find both to be better than Weller 107. Not to say 107 is bad. I just don't agree with the popular opinion of 107 being the best wheater. But I think I prefer wheat whiskey over bourbon, so that could be why I feel that way. Again,Weller 107 is gr8,but I'd take atleast 3 other wheaters first. Cheers
107 is one of the best wheaters... at least we think so. BUT these ben holladays are going to give them a run especially with its availability. I'm gonna go on a limb here and say BH maybe the best READILY available wheater off the top of my head.
Winter wheat, aka red wheat, was brought over here by my ancestors. Volga Germans. Germans who relocated to the US from Russia. My ancestors relocated to Russia from Germany thanks to Catherine the Great. A German who married her cousin, Peter the Great. Who eventually was assassinated by one of Catherine's Lovers who was high in ranks in the Russian army.. Anyway, she promised German immigrants land and no taxes and no military service. They settled along the Rhine and Volga rivers in Russia. When Catherine died, she was succeeded by her son Paul 1. Who immediately tried to undo his mother's legacy. He made the Germans pay very high taxes and forced them to join the Russian military. He sent them to Siberia..so the Germans fled to Ameica. Mine settled in Hays Kansas. They brought the Winter wheat, which has become the largest wheat production in the world. And that my friends is the history of red wheat. Aka, winter wheat, which is planted in the fall. Wikipedia says Meenonite Germans. But it was both Catholic and Mennonite Germans. Mine being the Catholic Volga Germans. And there is your history lesson for the day. 😂
On a separate note, have you heard the latest on future hurricane Heline? Ground zero is Tallahassee. Your FSU headquarters. It's not looking good. She's supposed to be a Cat 4 or even a Cat 5 by landfall around 1pm Thursday. As of now. Sustained winds of 150 to 166 mph. Wind gusts of 174 to 195 mph. If you have friends or family there, give them a heads up. They need to leave. Also, they are predicting it to still be a hurricane all the way when it reaches Tennessee. So you may be getting some bad weather by the weekend. I'm praying the weatherman is wrong and all those hurricane models get it wrong also. A lot can happen in the next 3 days. I just wanted to give you a heads up.
No family or friends In tally anymore, unlike other states Florida knows how to handle their business. Prays for those in the path especially on the coast. It will just be a good storm by the time it gets to Tennessee. Thanks for the heads up though.
Ok we got it out tonight and the nose is mostly fresh cut lumber with a little cotton candy .The taste touch of apple with a cough med cherry with a long warm Missouri hug. Just not worth the 70 bucks I gave for it . 3 out 5 overall .
cotton candy...that's different but hey doesn't make you wrong! Yeah, it's worth about 49. Didn't i give it 4.5. i may have went t little high on this one.
Ben Holladay also has a bottled-in-bond version of soft red wheat. That might hit your palate a bit easier. I like that you guys pulled out something to compare/contrast with. Also, I like the idea of the notes showing on the TV. Two things might help, first with the lighting - if you have more light on the two of you and dim the brightness on the TV, you probably won't get so washed out. And, if you do try again, you can zoom the text size in the browser and I'm sure you could get it so it's readable by most. Keep experimenting ... loving it.
We saw the BIB, just randomly choose the Rickhouse proof. Maybe We need to find a channel that doesn't have a white page. For example breaking bourbon is always brown it might not be so bright. We will have to test it. When we just do the logo it doesn't wash us out. I did adjust the color before and made it look better on the screen. Also the idea of enlarging the text for y'all to see...good idea! Everyday is a lesson.
You're right about Makers being #1 wheated bourbon. But that is based on price and availability. As for flavor, Wellers is #1. There are a few bourbons better than Makers. But the problem is the limited production and such high demand that people will never see them in retail. If Wellers 107 was readily available as Makers, you'd see a different ranking. 107 being #1.
107 is hard to beat, Makers is our proclaimed King of Wheater's because they have committed to Wheat only and have done it consistently for decades. Do we think MM is the best wheated bourbon HELL NO it's a good bourbon at best. We love 107 but all things being equal 107 is far from the best wheated bourbon. To me it is the best Moderately available to available wheated bourbon. Old Fitzgerald is by far the best wheated i've had
A fan of BH Soft Red Wheat. Discovered it a couple of Months ago and went back to get a second bottle when the first is gone. (Which will be gone by the weekend)
sorry about the lighting the TV with the White screen really screwed up the lighting. We wont be doing that again.

Ben Holladay produces some amazing products! I haven’t had a bad bottle yet. Cheers 🥃
nore have we, but we've only had two.
Also I don’t even own a computer so the link to join the membership is a must
We didn't have a computer until we started this channel. I don't think computers are as normal as they use to be with the emergence of smartphones.
@@decknightontherocksbourbon that’s correct, RUclips is a lot different on a computer vs. phone or tablet.

You've made me want to get my bottle out and give it a pour again tonight sense it's been a while.
Sounds like a great idea! If you do lets us know what you think

Thanks for the history lesson Professor Windholz, something our country needs a lot more of as of late.

Nope, I (Homer) am a proud Alumni 2004. Lived in Tally 2000-2004. We are now in Knoxville, TN. I Grew up in Pensacola.
@@decknightontherocksbourbon awesome. Go Noles! Hopefully we turned a corner last weekend.
they kept walking right past that corner.
I don’t always drink wheaters but when I do ,I drink Weller ! Stay thirsty my friends !!
Weller is real good but maybe you should give Ben a shot.
