Is this worth 110$ and is the sib worth 129$ a local store of mine had them and it's the only store I've seen carry EH Taylor near me in WA. These are out the door prices. I feel like over a hundred is a bit much for small batch but was curious in your opinion.

In regards to MGP, I think you hit on something. I suspect they have been hit harder by the decline than some of the other distillers, in part, because the MGP brand doesn't not have exports that the other distilleries with names like Jack and Jim. Exports can help in a time of domestic down turns

I can still get a bottle of Eagle Rare around here around $39 through a large grocery chain.......the problem IS NOT with the producers (there are NDPs who are very proud of their 3 year old distillate, though) There are SO many steps in the chain and it ends with the retailer and their pricing practices. Some states are worse than others too, the level of taxation is excessive in my state where the state actually buys and resells bottls at 65% markup then adds another 15% of taxes on top of it even before you pay sales tax at the register........you can see what the price is to the retailer on the state website so you can see first hand how much of a bendover your local store is giving to you. When you see that bottles are going for 4x - 7x Minimum shelf price you know who the reasonable stores are and the ones that just want to soak you for money. Around me, most of the local stores are *ahem*.......owned by people whos first language is not english.......they are the ones still selling ER for $89 and still have them sitting around. Recently though, I have seen that there are more hard to find bottles in some of my local places...prices are still stupid....but the hard correction is happening. Cheers!

It seems clear to me that way too many companies (legacy and craft) have lost sight of the fundamentals of bourbon/whiskey. Offer a good product at a fair price. This is what 'it' used to be. I'm shocked by the number of bourbons I've bought and tried that failed to meet the simplest standard of caramel, vanilla and oak. Instead we see tons of young whiskeys, finished in whatever barrels and all at premium pricing. Even the legacy distilleries are starting to trip up, look at the number of low end products out there where the age statements have been dropped or the proof but not the price to follow suit? Wild Turkey 101? The 8 year age stated has been exported for a long time but we are only just getting it back here stateside? Or Old Grand-Dad 86 proof being changed to 80 proof? Really? Beam doesn't have the barrels to keep it at 86 proof? They just didn't want to put in the effort, but they kept the same price and we lost 6 proof points. These are just a couple examples, many more in fact too many to note here in a short comment. And don't get me started on the approvals for more bottle sizes. This was a clear sign that distilleries fully intended to maintain export volume (screwing us here, stateside) and also force us here stateside with smaller bottle sizes, (750ml to 700ml, an extra bottle every 15 (50ml x 14 = 700ml)), but keeping them at 750ml prices or raising it! It will take time for the bourbon market to mend and heal. There are some elements that may never fully recover to pre-pandemic, but hopefully we will see most of it return. For the low and mid-tier allocations, I think availability will improve over this year and the next few years. The high end allocations will hold up in the secondary, I think the cat is out of the bag for them. It will never get back to finding Pappy or BTAC on the shelf collecting dust for MSRP. Although it's reasonable to say they eventually might not move as quickly at some point, but they'll still sell and move. Thanks a lot flippers and scummy retailers and distributors! Human nature defaulted to greed and avarice, how many times have we seen it play out? Now things are slowly rebalancing, but the damage has been done.

The good times are coming!! Now barrels will get older and cheaper as the taters stop tatering and bottles stop selling for wayy over price. This is the end of the gouge.

It was craft beer 1st, now it's bourbon. I still find plenty of both. I raised a Marine who can actually pick out whiskey notes of both bourbon, and Scotch, and American single malts, and blended whiskeys. The only thing that's going to happen is we will be left with the best. It's survival of the fittest. You're going to lose a few small batch guys that tried to grow too fast, and that sucks, but that's capitalism.

Forgot to say the lady is right. From the store owners that I’ve talked to by me that are pretty hard up. what they tell me is that the vendors will give them an allocated bottle but they have to take on a ton of crap tequila, vodka, and other spirits. That stuff doesn’t sell so they have to mark up the allocated bottle to try to make up the difference. They have rent and other bills to cover too. I remember one store had 12 cases of tequila that didn’t move for months in order for him to get 2 bottles of rare EH Taylor Single Barrels.

Also for me, another indicator that the bourbon bust is happening is that I’m seeing Russell’s reserve store picks that are being sold for $84 just sitting on the shelves. Henry McKenna 10 year bottled and bond at $62 sitting on shelves. OF SB BP bourbon store picks have been sitting on the shelves too.

The liquor bust by me started in late 2023. Two stores that opened right after the pandemic hoping to cash in on liquor sales close down. They were telling me people weren’t buying as much and their rent was too much.

Just found this video as I’m sipping on some Bulleit 12 Year Rye. I don’t know why I don’t look for more Ryes. They’re so dang good. Sagamore Double Oak may be my favorite so far. Cheers!

Could be a bourbon great depression! Nothing sounds worse than less whiskey with the demand thats on whiskey right now. Also take into account only the oddballs like Smoke Wagon and smaller companies that aren't NDCs that source blend and up charge that are really going to struggle unless they drop their prices. All the legacy distilleries see the writing on the wall, aged whiskey from any legacy distillery is flying off the shelve slile hotcakes. BT could triple their production of regular Buffalo trace and it would still sell, @ $27 it's unbeatable imo. #BUCKEYESNATIONALCHAMPS Side note, most stores have to sell trash from distributors to get fancy bottles. So sell 2,000 bottles of Fireball and the distributor will get you a bottle of GTS. So no matter what the stores get their money, but they don't make huge profits off anything, unless they mark up the GTS. My issue is your customers are the ones who came in and bought all the Jack #7 to get you the opportunity to get the HH 20yr, and they're not passing the HH 20yr to their customers, they're gouging their customers who are the reason the even got the bottle 🙄........ Yet another reason I Love #OHIO 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I’ve seen no sign of Bourbon slowing down and don’t think it will Still to this day even the relationships I’ve created it’s still hard to get allocated liquor I can get Blantons ER EH Taylor and Weller SR but that’s the really it on the allocated side

I like my drink but the smoke tastes better to me you can spend just as much on grass as you can booze it comes down to personal preference and what you like, or value at the end of the day there draw backs to both but if your legal and able to make the best choice for you and live your best life.
