This video is amazing! Thank you so much for your work! I might be sending you a slot machine for repair. It's crazy that our educational system has devolved to where we can't say 20th-century instead of 1900s.

I have no idea how you still all have all ten of your fingers. Currently restoring my grandfather's OD Jennings Co. 5 Cent Bronze Chief, all wood console, ca.1940. He and my dad found it in an abandoned car dealership in the early 60's and it hasn't been touched since. Still has all the nickels from the 40's. A true treasure. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge-- it gives me the confidence to go in deep!

Just moved my Mills machine from San Francisco, CA to Prescott, AZ. Slot did not work when it arrived at the new house. AFter watching this video, I was able to move the mechanicsm for the arm with the screwdriver as you showed in the early part of the video. The mechnism re-set itself and now the machine works well. It took all my nickles already, so it's working perfectly... Thank you so much for posting. :)

Thank you! So useful. For me, the ingenuity of the engineering that goes into one is just stunning - and all to get people to dip into their pockets. Presently servicing a Sega Windsor. Mostly its just light rust from it being stood unused in a barn for a year - bit of cleaning and oiling but it works pretty good even as it is.

Thank you so much for putting this information online I just stumbled on this video. I inherited a Mills 5cent Castle Front from my Grandfather over 30 years ago that was painted with silver furnace paint to disguise it as it was used in the back room of one of his businesses. I remember playing it when I was very little and was sitting on his workbench in his basement. I stripped the paint and did my best to restore it cosmetically but it has never run quite right in all the years Ive had it. It sits in a prominent place on the bar in my Rec room and I would love to get it back to 100 percent for my Grand kids.

Here in the UK. The mechanism works beautifully however the coin escalator doesn’t seem to communicate to the mechanism that it’s got a coin and ready to play and the lever will not pull.
I’ve cleaned the coin escalator with methylated spirit but it doesn’t see the coin
Could you advise how I can fix it? I’m quite good at mechanical work just need a pointer in the right direction. Your help would be much appreciated thank you Scott.

After 10-15 spins, itll almost not event move. If i let it sit for a while, itll go back to spinning all 3 nicely. Any insight as to why it slows after a few plays in a row?

Exactly my machine - c. 1946 Mills - and I'll now try to get the reels going @ home; right now the symbols line up poorly if at all; cylinders are only spinning about a quarter turn if that before stopping; and all 3 are stopping at the same time instead of 1-2-3 sequence. If no joy, I'll drive it down to your shop in Orange.

I have one question: I accidentally slid out one of the money levers in the front (those slides with the hole in the middle connected with a spring on the back) It was stuck so and wont get back in place. So I slid out the lever above and "hooked" in the underlaying lever. No all is back in place and the amounts of pay off are all right as well. Could I have damaged something or is this construction "idiot-proof" and I do not need to worry. Would really appreciate a short answer. Regards from Germany.

I love the show. I usually work on em pinballs etc. Just picked up an em Bally 952 -D slot. It's got to be out of the silver city casino out there because it's got the front panel on it. Anyway, I can't find any info about this model and the first reel only spins occasionally. I'm hoping it's just gummed up. What's the best place to start and where can I find info on this? I'm guessing it's early 70s. 25 cent 3 coin. Thanks.

It most likely has to do with a Vertical fingers tapping a Horizontal pay finger. The fix is : play the mechanism , see which Vertical Pay Finger is tapping the Horizontal, if so bend it away until it clears. Good luck . Jeff

Greetings! I have a mills that is shorting me one dime on all the payouts except 3 dime cherry payout. This is an improvement as the 10 never payed before. I removed and cleaned all the payout sleds and found a dime jammed between two of the brass (bronze?) sleds. Thrilled to see oranges pay for the first time I’ve ever seen. But payed 9 instead of 10. Plums 13 not 14. Any ideas? Amazing content I feel like a dummy here 😂

Great video guys! I traded a gentleman an implant and a crown for a (1937) Mills dime slot machine. Looking at pics on the internet, it looks to be the Futurity. Worked great for about 4 months then on intermittent pulls the wheels would spin freely and slow to a stop, never engaging with the reel stops. Noticed the clock would not spin unless manually assisted. I've given it a good once-over with WD40, hitting all the moving parts but I only get about 2 spins out of it before the problem repeats. Same guts as you're working on in this video. Any insight? Thanks a bunch! - Scott

Everything else seems to pay out correctly. Do you have a video showing, or suggestions as to what to look for, adjust or clean, lube? The machine had been cleaned and serviced before I bought it but it's not practical to ship it back and forth every time some little something get out of adjustment.
