I have an old Universal machine (World Series) and need to replace a battery. This machine shows codes next to winnings, for example 12 which means I need to replace the battery. I don't have a service key. Will this be an issue?
OH MY GOD! Not good, all i can tell you is the coins most likely shorted something out. Start by making sure the power if off and get all the coins out. Especially look around the motherboard, or any exposed connections. Once you know all the quarters are out, replace the 3 fuses (i think there are 3) on the bottom right hand side. They should push in and turn left or some screw out. After you have replaced those fuses, plug the machine back into the wall, then turn it on and pray that it just blew a fuse. If it works after replacing the fuses, there is a good chance nothing was destroyed. Good Luck. If it still doesn't work, you will need someone to chevk out the motherboard or power supply depending on what it is, or isn’t doing.
Man!!!!!! I owe you a big ass drink.I was about to call a computer wiz. I looked up why my quarters fall straight through the slot straight to the trey. I watched so many videos and tried sooooo many things mostly the coin comparator . no one said "FIRST"check the little $1.00 CR 2032 battery.I came across your youtube and did exactly as you suggested. Holy crap batman """ that's all it was simple dead battery. There was no bad battery code to tell me. Thanks ever so much Ps I've got you guys on bookmark file

I appreciate your video and it was very helpful. My name is Joe and I am having a hard time finding a replacement main battery holder for my board on Amazon. Do you have a number so I can look it up easier for my s2thousand
I replaced my battery on a Triple Double Stars and got the Ram Error and now my MEI bill acceptor is not working after the reset. Have you ran into why the bill acceptor is no longer recognized after a battery swap?
Hey buddy, so a couple things you can try: 1. Try removing the MEI and putting it back in. In some cases that will help reset it. 2. If that doesnt work, you will need to do a RAM Clear with the programming chip and reset the machine.
I have that same slot machine . I have two lights that went out cause my wife pinched a wire . I fixed the wire and got two new bulbs and they still don’t work . And weeks later another light went out . What do you think
I just got a S2000, and besides the reels being faded the only issue I have had is what is in this video. Battery holder and new battery on the way! Thanks Cowboy Slots!
I wasn't as lucky. Took the board to a computer place to have the battery tray installed and tried the reset and it didn't work. Now it says critical error. It's an IGT Dem Boys slot machine. Can it be fixed at a reasonable cost? Thanks
Just came across this video as I was looking into a RAM Error that my girlfriend’s mom has had on her Double Diamond Deluxe for years. I ordered a battery holder to replace but I cycled the Attendant key and the held test switch but after closing door it doesn’t seem to detect the being closed as states Close main door on display. Any quick checks for the door sensor while I wait for battery holder?
2nd try I changed. My button battery again because the dollar bill excerpter keeps running over and over every 3 sec.I have never used it.have pulled the unit out and found nothing looks good
Thanks man for this video ...my slot had the battery tray so it was really easy to replace the battery.....on my wild cherry machine the "jack pot" key had to be turned once to turn off the "horn" then 3 more times to get the test button message.pushed it for 3 seconds and boom 💥 ....all good. Thanks again Cowboy 🤠
I enjoyed watching your tutorial 😍 and I have another problem - when I closed the door tightly the machine shorted out and did not turn on 🥺😓😥 I would appreciate your help or a video on this matter
I have a bally slot machine and the pull handle on it sticks when I go to pull it cam you help me with this or put me in right direction to get help. Thanks so much
Hello Cowboy, Thank you for the video, I follow the video and replace the reset battery low exactly what the video said. Except my problem is the bill acceptor doesn't work. Please help.
Replaced the battery, and the machine worked for several days. I turned my slots off for a few days but all others turned on except for the one that I replaced the battery for. Any suggestions on fixing power failure issues?
You dear can removed that battery if you want, I personally have never had one leak in any machine ive owned or sold. However by taking it out, you do run a risk of future error messages. Personally I just replace it.
@@CowboySlots I would have to advise anyone reading to remove it. I’ve seen literally seen hundreds of boards ruined by that battery and no error messages caused by removing it. Quite the opposite actually, I’ve seen numerous error messages caused by leaving it in. That acid really fucks things up and that battery only logs door open messages during a power outage, so literally no need for it at home. Just google “s2000 door open error” and you’ll see all the chaos caused by that damn battery. You don’t even have to use a soldering iron to get it out, you can clip it out with dykes. If you did use a soldering iron, just don’t have the heat up too high.
@Cowboy Slots Oh if you you have the enhanced MPU, the 1270. It is advised to remove the green battery along with chip U16 which is just below the battery. Removing that chip will trick the MPU into not knowing the battery is removed and thus give you no errors. 502 and 504 MPUs don’t require that extra step, just remove that battery and you’re done.
@@CowboySlots oh and the only reason I know these things is because I’ve been repairing boards with the battery damage. I’ve got a stack of them and some of them are too far gone to even fix. These boards are getting harder to find and prices are going up. Future boards with battery damage is just going to exacerbate the problem. Just trying to raise awareness while boards can still be saved. Give it another 10 to 20 years and many more will be trash.
@@CowboySlots Also, do you have any boards that aren’t working? I know you said you have no battery damaged boards, but do you have any with a door open error, coin jam, or netplex down? I’d be interested in taking them off your hands for repairs.
I have an IGT S2000 rd top Double Diamond enhanced MPU can not get NETPLEX display link down error to stop. I have swapped power supplies, checked batteries. any help? My VFD (7512040) looks different than the one in this video. The rainbow cable does not attach to it. only two smaller connections.
@@CowboySlots what is odd, I bought from someone they showed me a video of it working (I would hope the video was taken a few days before I picked it up, ugg). I pick up the machine bring it home, the machine had netplex error. Hope fully the battery is all that is wrong.
Ainsworth machines have the same problem, but it's not an instant fix, you can let it cycle until it says battery ok which I prefer so I don't have to ram clear
S2000s do not require a ram clear to change the battery. As long as the machine has no credits in it, you can change the batter without needing to clear it
Sooo I had this issue. Low battery. I changed the battery. Followed your instructions and had the game up and running. Then we had a solenoid sound when the reels stopped. We never had that sound before. It was driving me crazy. I was looking at videos and found one that looked easy enough. Let's just say my machine now has a "no disp" scrolling across the screen. Yeah I know I should have listened to my husband when he said the machine is running don't mess with it but you know I am a woman..lol So now I need help fixing my mistake. I promise I will listen to him next time. Can you help me? Thank you!
No display messages are typically caused by something simple like a loose wire or something disconnected. My first troubleshoot would be to unplug the display and plug it back in and then follow all the cords to make sure they are secure. If you disabled the solenoid, sometimes by disableing or changing hardware, you might have to do a ram clear on it and go through the set up process again so it realizes that it’s not there. If you do not want to hear the solenoid you can always disable it in the settings without unplugging it. Hope that helps!
@@CowboySlots I checked all wires and plugged in a loose wire. I didn't get the solenoid disabled. I can't get it to respond. Same message scrolling. Any other ideas? Thank you!
@@tammyclark176 Do you have the RAM clear and key chips? I would do a full clear and reset on it. Usually that helps clear up just about anything with the machine.
If you dont have the chip set you can buy them on eBay, just look up RAM Key and and clear for the S2000 slot. Should be a Key 17 if I recall, but there are a few universal ones out there.
