- Yian Garuga got revealed for Iceborne so it's only appropriate to revisit this chicken in GU. Got a faster run off camera but fuck this area and fuck the Konchus, this one is still sub 4 so I'll take it.

@@Sunaki1000 I do agree with the warning that this monster lacks in pre-world games.
It would be nice to see a small windup for the charge attack and other small QOL changes to it in general. As for the hit box thing, look at 00:51. There is no way that should've hit Canta. As for my previous comment, I never really had an issue with Garuga. Now Yian Kut-ku on the other hand, now that tHiNg deserves the name of hitbox chicken.

@@AVideoingShark If you give windups and tells to Garuga, then it turns into yet another easy-to-script fight that takes no skill like fighting the Raths is, it will literally ruin the monster and the fun fight! Garuga has no tells for the most part, but it always does a specific action depending on where you stand near/around it, so just from experience you can predict exactly what it will do. Only move that deserves the huge windup it has is the wind roar backflip, which only an idiot can get hit by...
As for hitboxes, the hitboxes are actually great, don't forget that when it slams the beak down it causes the ground to swell a little, THAT's the hitbox, not just the beak, but even though it's big, it's very easy to tell and avoid, plus it teaches you to not overcommit, which is always nice.
Tho tho I see you’re a man of culture as well. I agree with you on the windups. It would make Garuga too easy, but with World’s animations being really expressive, Garuga can be another case of Jho, with it being knocked out of rage from being overcommitted and getting punished for it. It would be nice to KO a Garuga with it’s beak still in the ground in World. You never know what Capcom will do.
As for hitboxes... yeah I agree with you completely with what you said. I remember being clipped by many literal groundbreaking attacks and getting squashed for not moving out in time. With World, maybe Garuga will be given a second wind for a great, poison infested, fight!

An ice Yian Garuga would actually be badass. It could make his body more covered in hair like the hair that is on his mane. And make his tail do a different ailment such as paralysis.
Chaos Yian Garuga. Instead of just poison his tail inflicts every status effect.^^

Flygon2626 i agree on the Paralysis tail, but i've yet to find a decent attack pattern for him. Because i personally would just change the aliment on the tail and nothing else. I've yet to come Up with anything for the moment. And sorry, but i just can't see an ice element subspecies... Wait. Yian Garuga usually uses his tail unwittingly (he's only aware of his poisonous tail if he flips, if you ask me), so the subspecies should actively try and stab you and paralyze you. As for the rest, let me see... He'd use his beak to batter you and not just peck and actually try to swipe you with his claws. He can still breathe fire, but will do this occasionally. My Yian Garuga subspecies is only a prototype, but what do you think?
New Hunters will either have to go beyond their limits or perish as snacks for the Demon Chicken Overlord.

I know this is a bit of an older video so I'm not sure if you'll look at the replies but why do you always skip the roundhouse slash at the end of the combo? Isn't it pretty damaging? Or am I mistaken?
It is but it also has a very long recovery animation so it's usually better to just cancel your combo before the roundslash to start a new one

Admittedly, I'm still a bit traumatized by fighting him in lvl 140 GQ...that was the most terrible thing I ever fought.

Huray. The Thing is Plage of Gripes and AkantorX talked a lot about Fights in Darksouls 2/Archtemperet Nergigante. There Point was, Attacks sould be avoidable and predictable as long as you watch out, and know that your doing. Attacks what are hart to avoid, sould be weak, and getting hit sould be allways your own fault. Garuga and Rathalos completly ignore this whit Instant Runs, Instant pecks and Instant fly into Fireball (Not Rage, He had another, similar attack)
Old Rathalos was terrible, and Garuga isnt better eighter.
Funnily enough, hyper and deadeye improved on this and actually had tells.

Does this monster come out random when you are doing hunts I'm new to these monsters I've never played the other monster hunter games
show timefu we will have to wait and see usually you had a pretty good idea of what to expect in the older games, but there is a larger element of randomness to the kinds of monsters that can invade a hunt in mhw
It didn't, but that may change for World. Garuga in its debut game (MHG) was an "Invasion Quest", a monster that can be repelled if you don't damage it enough, and only Elder Dragons had those kind of quests aside from it. In subsequent games, it was downgraded to somewhere between Rathian and Rathalos threat level, and the concept of an invader monster that was of similar danger to EDs would be revisited with Rajang, then Deviljho, then Bazel, and every time it would be refined until we get the current form of the archetype.
With Garuga uppercutting Jho in its intro cutscene though, it looks like it may be getting bumped up again into that category, and we'll see it as one of the possible invaders alongside the others in Master Rank if so.

Affinity oil
Impact oil
and Exaust oi
Affinity oil boosts your affinity obviously
Impact Oil gives your attacks K.O damage
and Exaust makes monsters tired faster
theres also the Hunter Art Chaos Oil wich is all 3 oils at the same time and the buff stacks with the other oils so you coukd have both Affinity and Chaos oil active for a massive boost in Affinity same with the other 2 oils
all 3 normal oils are bought in the store amd only work on Sword and Sheilds and make Sword and Sheild even more of a swiss army knife weapon it already was

@@alloy5526 Yian Garuga is my favorite Bird Wyvern. Only that insta-charge is annoying (isn't as annoying as AT Nergigante's papega slam though), and because of that, Deadeye Yian Garuga is even better, due to no insta-charge.

I wonder what his Turf Wars in Iceborne will be like. So far Bird Wyvern are pretty much non existend when it comes to Turf Wars aside from Tzi Tzi Yaku getting owned by Odogaron.
Agreed, bird wyverns gotta get more love. I'd wager it's probably like Odogaron, bullying weaker monsters and picking fights with even the tougher monsters.
I imagine it'll share alot of its Turfwars with Rathian/Pink and Gold with differences in results. Eg glavenus dodgeing the back flip and slaming his his tail down on normal and pink rathian.

@@alloy5526 Of course, Garuga seems to be a rank 4 monster so it'd probably destroy glavenus and all other apexes but tie with jho, bagel, Ebony, etc.
I mean this fucker was seen smacking Deviljho in its “reveal” and according to the wiki, although he is able to be killed by apex monsters such as Rathalos, Tigrex, Rajang and the like, it is more than capable of taking them on likewise, with some individuals seen to have left Deviljhos limping away so if that’s anything then this boy is going to mess up many monsters in Turf Wars.

Ive always felt the Hitboxes in MHW were a bit... off...
you'd know what i mean if you've played the classic games against most monsters. There were definitely outliers but monsters like Glavenus, Gore, Astalos, etc all had hitboxes that were basically to the pixel to the frame, worlds seems a bit Chunkier in that regard... Deviljho being a great example of the differences between the games hitboxes.
In MHGU, 9-star village quests, there is PRECISELY a hunt featuring both Garuga and Plesioth on the same map.
I hate this bird. It's charging attack is my bane, not mentioning the instant peck. I really don't looking forward it's come back in ib

@@spacetaco048 yeah, it was in the beta. The colorblind options had a standard shapnesss bar for the colors and purple was apart of it. That n some leaked images if weapons n such had it.

In the options fir the Beta, theres a Colorblind mode. And for the settings of it it displayed a sharpness bar, like for the weapons at the smithy, and it had all of the colors of sharpness. Purple being apart of said bar.
Theres also other weapons theyve shown in previews and livestreams of weapons having purple sharpness.
We need a MH game where we go the monsters vs Canta, get wrecked noobs.

@@kingdomheartsfan3002 what SnS isnt Trash in MHW, what are you smoking? As someone who has been playing since 4u i can say without a doubt that SnS is still great, just requires you to play differently and utilize all of its strings to thier fullest.
Contrary to what people will tell you Falling bash isnt the only combo. Its your DPS String for when monsters are tripped, KOd or otherwise CCd, on the flipside you still have a (slight modified) Legacy Combo in , standing ▲ ▲, ●, ●, ● using Turnslash or Backhop to reset.
The Slash Combo
●, ●, ●, Backhop or Turnslash, Thrust To reset which has better Raw damage but is worse for elemental damage because its slower.
Or the Blade Waltz Combo
▲, ▲, Turnslash, ▲ Loop.
Which has lower raw damage but gets more hits out faster,
Legacy is a blend of the two that also keeps you in place for the most part so its good to punish larger openings when you have good positioning or dont want to move.
Just use the weapon well and it will be a monster.
